I want to share one of the neatest tools I have ever owned with everyone. It's called a 'Rotary Tool' and I found it at Harbor Freight Tools for just $9.99. I expected it to break quickly but it wasn't that expensive and I thought I'd give it a try. Its like a Dremmel Tool. But its small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The Rotary Tool comes with some drill bits, a few sanding wheels and a few different sized 'colets' for changing if you're using regular drill bits. I don't know what half of the things are for but I DO know a drill bit and sanding wheel. They also sell a set of 'Precision Drill Bits' that drill really tiny holes. A set of about 16 cost me an extra $12 I think. They're so tiny that they can break and over the past 3 months that I've owned the Rotary Tool I think I've broken about 3 of the bits. But I've still got lots to use before I need to buy another set. I even went back last week and bought an extra Rotary Tool because I figure for my $9.99 investment it has been more than worth that price. If it breaks it was still a great deal. You can find it online at Harbor Freight Tools (we have one just down the street though). It is light as a feather too. I absolutely LOVE this thing and I wish I'd known about it back when I was building my first dollhouse last year!

Hello everyone! I’m new here. My Greenleaf Beacon Hill kit finally came in today! I’m a bit nervous as this is my first dollhouse build. Can anyone share some tips on what helped you? I heard the instructions are kind of difficult and hard to understand. I’ve been watching the YouTube videos and I can’t find one that is like a step by step. I already know some of the changes I’m going to make or other builders suggestions that I’m going to use. I’ve got most of the starter supplies: the glues, the clamps, painters tape, the ultimate cutter from hobby lobby, stains and some mini screwdrivers and a mini jewelry mallet/hammer. Any help throughout this would be so much appreciated! As A paramedic I work odd shifts so I plan to work on this on days off. I’d also like to possibly make my own kitchen counters. I’m in love with the farmhouse sink and I would like to incorporate that. I also do plan to run electricity. Thank you all!

Hello from Oregon! I'm a new member and have no idea what I'm doing. This looks like a great place to share and laugh! I own the newest Dollhouse and Miniature shop in the Northwest. I would love to talk to artisians who would possibly consign in my shop. I'm not looking to get rich, I'll be happy to pay the rent. I want to share and have fun! What a wonderful passion we share! I am in this adorable little town, 26 antique shops and almost all are walking distance from each other. Quant little places to grab a snack or even sample wine. I am in the Historic District. Right on Main street in a huge old 2 story house with original hardwood floors throughout. Come and play, visit, meet other miniaturist and have FUN! This is a dream I have had that goes back about 25 years, my grandma and I would sit and plan for hours of what we wanted and what we would do. Some how it's happened. Grandma is here in my heart, guiding me all the way. I moved in here using every penny I could scrounge up, even selling tons of miniatures and collectibles online. Please plan a stop by and share in my dream come true and best of all...I get to live in my "Dollhouse"! mini hugs to all! From the album: Miniatures "Things" I've made
This is a handmade shelf that one of my husbands relatives made like 100 years ago. I really like it and decided to try and replicate it. It took me 3 trys til I finally got it done without it breaking on me. I made the ducks using some homemade cold porcelain, I found a good recipe on Youtube. The stuff works great!- 3 comments

Here we go! The NAME National Convention ends with a show this week and soon we are looking at several miniature shows throughout the US. Below is a list of shows that I will be attending as a vendor. This is very different from what I have done in the past, but things are different now. If you are going to any of these, please stop and say hello. August 15-16 Dayton, OH 3 Blind Mice Show August 22-24 Aztec Wholesale Show in Aurora, OH August 28-29 Chicago Fall Show from Tom Bishop September 5-7 Orlando Miniaturia September 11-12 Nashville, TN presented by Harville Productions September 18-19 Indianapolis presented by the Museum of Miniature Houses October 24 Louisville, KY November 5-8 Philadelphia Miniaturia Wholesale and Retail Shows November Chicago Wee "c" Miniature Show (tentative) I know there are other shows, but these are the ones I am attending. More details on each as we get closer. The Bishop show will have more vendors than in the past. Orlando is a new show and it is a holiday weekend, so it is hard telling about attendance. It is on Disney grounds, so that may help.

Nashville, TN Miniature Show September 11-12
Gonzo posted a topic in Current Miniature News & Events
Hi all! There is a miniature show in Nashville, TN this weekend if you can make it. Miniature Collector had published that a miniature show in Nashville was cancelled. That is NOT this show. It should be a great time with lots of awesome vendors. http://harvilleproductions.com/index.php/miniature-show-nashville-dollhouse/
