  1. Bathroom Tile

From the album My First Dolls house

Bathroom tiles and flooring completed. I had to spend a lot of time making the existing door opening smaller to fit the odd sized handmade door I purchased at Miniatura. Just skirting and coving to go and this room is fully decorated ready for when I find the right fixtures.

  3. Banister balcony view

From the album My First Dolls house

I planned on leaving the landing open to the downstairs but realism won out and I had to make it look usable aka safe. I made the banister to match the dining room divider.
  4. Brinca Dada

If you had an opportunity to buy a Brinca Dada Edward house in Fair to good condition.. What would you pay for it? I'm umming and ahhing as to value and need some advice.
  5. Basement Bathroom - light on.JPG

From the album First Dollhouse DC San Franciscan SF557

Trying out this light in the room... Not sure if I'll use it. I was just going to use a nondescript ceiling mounted fixture in this room. But the demanding little minx wants something more.  The room is still in dry fit so the left hand corner of the show will be grouted once the walls are glued together. As will the floor to wall junction.  Excuse the droopy shower rose, it's just propped in there like everything else in this room.
  6. One more option.JPG

From the album Mini Furniture Rehabs & Builds

I need your assistance in picking a trim for my Chandelier shade upcycle.   After Carrie's comment on the last pic about contrast, I thought I'd try one more option. I think we might have a winner?...

  8. Bead Cage Light

From the album Mini Furniture Rehabs & Builds

My bead cages finally turned up from China, so I made a quick light out of one of them. I have three.. they would make good ball pendants over an island or over bedside tables.... I just punched a hole in the top for the bulb wiring added a necklace chain and done.. The cage opens so you can change the bulb.

So I'm still on a lighting kick... I bought these cheap plastic lights from China a while ago... They were boring as is, but had good lines. I tried painting them silver with metallic acrylic and a brush... NOT successful!.. So I bought some aluminium spray paint and gave them a good coat. Unfortunately the bumpyness left from the original paint job still shows on this tester lamp. The rest will only be getting spray paint for a smoother finish. I also added some copper tape and some nail art rectangles to the edges before painting, to add a bit of detail to the plain shade and make them seem a bit more chunky and industrial. I added jewelry wire to the inside of the shade to form a simple bulb cage.  Sorry for the poor quality image of the makeover.. I resized this picture down quite a bit to match the size of the light in original form and it became very pixellated..
  10. Modern Gustavian Lamp - Painted

From the album Mini Furniture Rehabs & Builds

With the base painted.. might need to lighten this up a little with some white wash.. we shall see... it looks darker in the photo.. it's more gray in person.
  11. From the album Mini Furniture Rehabs & Builds

So my new thing is modern Gustavian inspired minis.. so I made myself a lamp... The turning beside it is a tester paint job I did to see if I could get a good aged grey wood colour that you see so much of in this style. I like it.. might need a little bit of white stippled on for highlighting. I drilled a hole in a houseworks turning for the base & The structure to hold the lamp up is a nylon washer and two clear plastic fastener backs. The shade is printed linen over cardstock. The print is much softer in real life.. not sure why so dark here... I think I need to adjust the fabric too.. because I see that my laurel wreath is wonky.. lol

And the Lamp lit. Pretty happy with it... now it just needs a paint job to really have that aged Swedish grey look. The shade is printed linen fabric over cardstock.. the image is much softer in real life... not sure why it is showing up so black in photos..

  20. Side view

I replaced the stone paper I originally put on with this brick "mat" I found in a craft store. It is supposed to be used with the little Christmas villages they sell.
