Hello everyone! You can call me Kay if you would like. I am a college student but I have been into this hobby since middle school. My mom just recently decided to also join the hobby so I made an account to hopefully learn some tips so me and my mom can build a house together. I've never done a house completely from scratch so it should be interesting. Anywho, just wanted to say hi, have a nice day!

Hi, I work in 1/12th scale and love to scratch build. My first dollhouse was the Tennyson, but unfortunately, it lived in the front of our home, where I do my projects and the Tennyson was taken out by a drunk driver, who drove into our home in 2010, in the middle of the day. His Insurance did pay to replace the miniature house, but I still haven't rebuilt it. I love to create miniatures, and I have tried just about everything, except porcelain & silver. I enjoy costuming porcelain dolls, making soft goods, upholstering and scratch building furniture, petitpoint, wicker and making my own chandeliers. I finally 'bonded' with a lathe, after I took classes using a lathe with Bill Robertson in 2014 and 2015 IGMA Guild School and spend as much time as possible now turning during the summer; I have yet to master the art of turning, but it is a most enjoyable (sub) hobby of the larger miniature hobby category. I have been fortunate to participate in Name Houseparties, State Days, Conventions, classes at the Chicago International and a couple of Guild Study Programs and Guild School events. I have a RGT Newport in process, but I am not happy with the stairs so it isn't finished. Living in North Central Indiana, allows me to consider the Chicago International as my home show - so I am so fortunate to be able to drive to the show. I began participating in Yahoo MSAT forums in 2005, and have been a NAME member and NAME Club member for 2+ decades. I think I joined IGMA a decade ago, and have attended Guild School periodically when I began to look for a venue to improve my skills. I enjoy complex projects... and I have a lot of posts on the IGMA Fine Miniatures Forum, as "Weekend Miniaturist". I am fortunate to have an incredible husband who has been a wonderful enabler of my pursuit of beautiful miniatures. He is a professional cabinetmaker all of our adult lives (we are HS sweethearts) so if I want to talk about joints for furniture making; I have wonderful access to a pro for anything that I want to make out of wood. I can ask him anything about furniture and wood, but he doesn't do construction; so I'm hoping to tap into the collective knowledge of this group for my first scratch build structure.

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I am new to this hobby, having just recently found a rather large dollhouse at a local thrift shop. When I saw the dollhouse at the thrift store I deliberated for a few minutes, but in the end could not pass it up. So I've joined to hopefully learn and gain some knowledge from those of you who have been at this for a while. Anyway, the dollhouse is 3 stories, I don't know much about architecture but it looks to me to be a georgian colonial house with 4 columns in the front. It is white with blue shutters and a bay window on one side and two round window on either side of the top floor. There is some damage, missing trim, a missing staircase and the circa 1985 wallpaper need to be replaced, but all in all I would say it was a steal at $9.99. It completely filled the trunk of my Jetta wagon on it's back. Anyway, the first order of business I think will be a general cleaning, removing the wallpaper, and assessing the condition of the shingles. Then onto planning the new colours and wallpaper and decided on wiring or not. Jaime

I somehow managed to post this twice - If a moderator could delete this one, I would appreciate it! Hi Everyone, Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Hello, Nice to "meet" all of you! I'm already overwhelmed by this forum and the wealth of knowledge that everyone is so happy to share! I'm sort of New/Old to miniatures/dollhouses. My husband & I married in 1980 and for our first Christmas I hinted for a Dollhouse and that's exactly what he got me: The Harrison Tudor. We spent our first New Years Eve building it together. I started getting a few pieces of furniture & accessories here & there always with the intention of getting it finished. But, in 1982 our son was born and my doll house interior was never finished. Instead, I found myself building Legos with my son, getting involved with his sports, school, interests, etc. My dollhouse was carefully covered in plastice, furniture & accessories carefully stored away, has survived three houses, two moves, job changes, my growing son's basement-hockey-playing-puck near-misses, 3 nosy cats and 2 dogs, care-giving elderly parents, & more recently babysitting. Life Happens & Time Gets Away. Fast forward 35 years later my two Granddaughters, now 8 & 10, are finally old enough to understand & appreciate the fragility of this beautiful dollhouse. (Now I finally have someone to play with my dollhouse with!) LOL So, the protective coverings came off and my girls sat fascinated oohing & awwing over all of grandmas's teeny-tiny-little things. With my dear husbands blessings--(actually his excuse to enjoy golf, hockey, tennis, soccer, baseball, basketball, football, or anything ending in ball, etc. on TV without interruption), my dollhouse is finally moving upstairs where I can work on it. I'm going to need all the help I can get! Warm Regards ~~ kat

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Bambi and I live in Wisconsin. I'm relatively new to miniatures, but I'm hooked. You all are so talented and inspiring! I love looking at all of your creations!
