  1. Hello there, I'm in Chicagoland and am looking to find a new forever owner for my Greenleaf Pierce. My parents are downsizing and I need to move her out, can't take her with me to England where I now live. She was my first dollhouse, which my dad and I never quite got around to finishing. Though she is fully assembled and in functioning order, she's in need of a makeover. Please contact me if interested!
  2. I am building the Pierce, and can't figure out which piece goes where in the dining room entry. Does the slanted piece go nearest to the front door, or on the kitchen side? I don't want to glue it down and have it be wrong. Thanks !

This is the other side of the stairs. The wasted space under them bothers me too - so I think I might try to make use of it by making a built in shelf or some sort of secret cubby hole.
  4. Hi, I've been reading this forum's content as an unregistered researcher since February when I first experienced a personal surge of interest in miniatures. This came about as a result of an online auction purchase of an (unseen) Greenleaf Westville Cottage Kit. Still boxed, and I guess vintage (circa 1990) I won the bidding, got it home and peeked inside at the shocking sight of an unassembled dollhouse kit. Yikes. I knew enough not to remove it from the box until I learned what I was supposed to do with it. Quite a lot, it seems. It's mid-April and the kit is not built yet because I can't do the sanding it requires indoors, and of course, being Ontario it's still too cold to work outside. So I started learning how to furnish it, paint it, etc. while I'm waiting. I've been making tiny wooden shelves and boxes from scratch (oh and a fireplace) (learning about tools like miter boxes and saws, pin drills, blades and knives, clamps, and glues) and turned out a surprisingly realistic and fun-to-make array of polymer clay food, bowls, pots, and plates. I also began to purchase new and inexpensive accessories including a tape electric light system and tiny lights - guess I don't need to say tiny anymore - and collect stuff from thrift shops, etc, to repurpose. I bought a gazillion cedar roof tiles and some siding from The Little Dollhouse Company, here in Toronto, and a few other impractical but adorable little things. I'm semi-retired and other than my husband, my motorcycle, and my big standard poodle, I have few demands on my life. Part-time work is copywriting and editing. But it hasn't taken me long to realize that this miniature obsession is way more fun than copywriting. So here I am. Because now I have TWO Greenleaf Dollhouses. Yesterday I came home with an old, pre-loved, fully constructed Pierce dollhouse that needs some TLC. Our dining room table is its new home and we have to eat dinner at the coffee table now. (image below) It's wired and has lots of lights (chandeliers, sconces, lamps, and spares) and only cost $75 Canadian. I forgot to mention, I also acquired a Serendipity Shed kit because, well every woman needs her own shed right? I can make it into a mini motorcycle workshop. I'm going to need lots of practical help, more money, and maybe some therapy! Very best, Rosemary

Looks so cool with the snow around it.

The fairy house is holding up well to our winter weather, it’s snuggled under the roses. Everyone keeps saying I should add white lights. I’ll try when we add the Christmas yard decor.

  8. Hi all, I just got my Pierce, and want to make a boarding house. I think I may need to bash a Primrose on the side to get enough rooms. So.... here's what I would LIKE to do. If anyone has bashed a Pierce before and can just tell me if these things are structurally stupid ideas. 1. Bash the Primrose on to the right side (looking at it from the open back) and create an opening between them. The primrose will be the kitchen/dining area, not sure about the upper floor yet. Probably a boarder's room. 2. Add a wall where the dining room is now for another bedroom. The kitchen also becomes a bedroom. 3. Relocate the staircase against the front wall. Which would get rid of that weird little wall at the top of the stairs? 4. At the top of the stairs will be a small area with a bookcase, wall telephone and desk. Put in removable wall between stairs and right bedroom. In far left bedroom, turn bay into balcony. 5. Attic-Do something with that awkward V angle in the far left attic (Will this cause the roof to sag? Can I reinforce it?) Is the attic portion under the big roof tall enough to realistically make into rooms. And is the tower area big enough to put a child's bed and ladder to the roof in it? Thanks!

  14. Greetings from Washington! Just bought a Pierce dollhouse at a yard sale in my neighborhood. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm having fun learning as I go. So glad I found this forum! It is an amazing place for help and ideas!

Pierce potential bath layout. Looks pretty blah so far. I'm not set on the mirror, it might be too fancy. It might look better painted white. It might be too small. I'm open to suggestions on filling this space.
  16. From the album: Greenleaf Pierce

WIPs. This is a Michael's hutch. The top half will become kitchen cabinets. I am painting the interior white and will do the outside in "golden oak" to match the rest of the kitchen. The bottom half is an experiment in making a custom cabinet surround for a 'vintage' pedestal sink. It needs a little more shaping and sanding and will be painted white.
  17. From the album: The Pierce Garage Sale Find and Kit Instructions

These instructions are old and basically falling apart. The instructions come on one sheet of paper that is 20"x18" and printed on both sides, so in order to be able to scan it I had to divide the sheet into 4 seperate parts. After scanning I used Microsoft Paint to put the pages back together again. In order to reduce the size of the file I had to resize the picture to 15"x10". What I mean to say is that you need to download both pictures onto your computer in order to view them correctly, cuz in here they look to small to be readable.

  19. Hi all! I have spent quite a bit of time tidying stuff up and now I've begun to furnish the rooms! Because the kids attic bedroom is so small - despite my adding on to it, I wanted to build 'built in' beds. Well I am absolutely thrilled with how well they have turned out! I have started to work on the rest of the attic also. It's going to be Val's space for crafting and for apothecary stuff. Beginning to really enjoy this process!
  20. I'm looking to purchase my first house but I don't know how much to offer the seller (they said the price was negociable). The house is found here . When I called them they told me that all the window inserts were missing and that the fireplace inside the house was missing some bricks. From the photo it seems structurally sound though the roof is missing quite a few shingles. I would really appreciate the help.
  21. Times have been tough and my space limited, so I've become rather choosy in picking up any new dollhouses. Last month I passed up an original Victotorian because the windows seemed to be in the wrong locations to feel authentic and I doubted I would ever plug up the holes and put in others in the 3/8" particleboard. Last week it was a kit I've never seen before by an unfamiliar company (I think it was 1979 and definitely had Prairie in the name, two stories and a big front porch) but peering in the box, I was dubious whether the kit would be a straightforward build or how the quality would be. Today I spotted a Pierce with --- on the price spot, so phoned. While on the phone, I spotted the best offer part and my heart sunk, because I had $3 to my name and maybe access to another $20 if I was lucky. But in talking to the gal, she was more interested in finding it a home, so I volunteered to take it on, giving it new life. It was a 55 mile drive, not counting the distance from the freeway, and the community followed no grid system, so they even came and guided me the last few miles. We packed up the small bits and pieces, I don't know yet how much will be usable, but it will be fun to see what I can do to it. The house was given to her for free and suffered some damage when the original owner ripped out some electrical stuff. Further damage was done by the 2 year old nephew of it's recent owner. She kept saying that it was really damaged, but I had to laugh, because I have purchased far worse. It's currently in the back of my car, I wanted to enlist some help in getting it out the hatchback to minimize further damage. Once I get it inside, I will set it up where I can contemplate and see what it tells me about itself.
  22. Well, I have spent a month or more getting ready to start my Greenleaf Pierce! By the time it got to 27th Dec - my 'D' day, I was starting to procrastinate because I became terrified of starting! After creating my workspace yesterday - hubby having bought me a 10 drawer metal file cabinet and he cut a good heavy board on which to build the house - today really was the day! After feeding various people's cats (it's summer holidays here) and putting away all the Christmas decorations I finally opened the box and started my Pierce. Okay - so I didn't get very far. I have the base gluing and have cut out, sanded and primed most of the foundation pieces. Unfortunately I have Fibromyalgia which is a pain condition. After the busy-ness of Christmas and Boxing days, my hands, wrists all the way up to my shoulders were more painful than ever. So while it was good that I waited till today, the pain now after cutting just those few pieces is quite severe. Never mind, I'm picking that as I go on things will take longer to decorate or put together and the time between cutting will become longer. The other thing to note is that I have started a new Facebook page called 'Melody of Miniatures'. Feel free to pop by and say hello! It is essentially a page that I will blog and keep a track of websites I've bought from, techniques I've tried and bits and bobs used etc. My daughter is also going to contribute and it is our intention to share knowledge we have gained through this forum and our own tried and tested ways of doing things.
  23. From the album: Tig's Pierce Progress

I got this bedroom set from my husband about 10 years ago. It was about 1/5 of the regular price because the bed was broken. I fixed the bed tonight and decided to see how everything fit in what I consider the master bedroom of the house. I don't know how people could live with such tiny spaces!!! I had to shove my armoire into the bay window and everything is so squished together. I was not happy with this arrangement (or any others I could come up with). When I was younger I dreamed of moving to a big city, buying a big scary old house and living there all by my eccentric self, scaring the neighbor kids for fun. In my imagination this dollhouse is the house I would have lived in if I would have actually choosen that other life. Since it will just be imaginary mini me living in this house I got to thinking... Really how hard would it be to remodel it into something I like better? Let the demolition begin!!!!!!
