From the album: Country House - Renovated
Grandma and Grandpa have a new spring welcome mat. I can't think of a more appropriate one to reflect this family. -

There is nothing like the feeling of rolling out the welcome mat to your new home. I see Mo left the porch light on for us. -

I rearranged the new porch furniture and decided I like it best this way - for now. -

Grandma got her Christmas present early this year, as she wanted new porch furniture and was waiting for something she really liked. This set has the wicker effect, but it is actually resin that I got a good price from Wee Dollhouse Shoppe at Karen Aird's Fall Miniature Show. I loved the color, as I think it matches the house well. -

Within Copper Hollow is a little neighborhood known as Shaker Village. Here in Shaker Village are a fiddler and banjo player on a front porch. -

The chair on the side porch was orginally in Heather and Amy's bedroom. Eventually, I would like to get more wicker furniture for the porch. -

Painted the porch floors grey today (thanks for the ideas havanaholly) and put a third coat of black paint on the shutters. I realize things don't appear to be straight but everything is just resting temporarily, windows doors and shutters are not permanently affixed yet.- 4 comments

Ironically, I am posting this on the first day of fall, which came early for my miniature family. The fall is my favorite season, and this year, I am not looking forward to Christmas because I will have to put my leaves away for another year. - Holly and Carrie may be up past their bedtime because it looks like there is a light up in their room. Either that or it is a reflection of the moon. -

The girls' great-grandparents come to visit often. They love to sit out on the porch and watch the people go by. On Halloween, they dress up like scarecrows and scare the kids when they come for candy, because they themselves are just kids at heart. They better be going inside soon, as it is getting dark.-

On the outside, the pumpkins are all along the wrap-around porch. On the inside, Grandpa is making tea. -

When I brought the house to the Dollhouse Factory, the porch was really a mess. Here it is all glued and painted. -

The roof tiles are from Minaco and I really like them, great to work with as they will cut easily without shattering. The ridge tiles are also from them but I needed one more and as they are not cheap I didn't want to buy another pack so I made one out of polymer clay. It worked so well that I ought to have made all the ridge tiles myself - note to self for next time. I aged them with acrylic paints and added lead strips down the gulleys with some leading left over from the Garfield.© Jo Medvenics 2012

I was just talk'n with someone here about George the Mini Guy - that he hadn't been blogging lately - & all of a sudden he's back again! Check out his Porch Project, its Craftsman style. There are 3 sections about the project on that page in reverse order: Getting Closer! Roughing It New Club Project - a Front Porch Be sure to click on the photo for a closer look. I think its a great idea - as it will hang on the wall & will be decorated for different seasons / holidays. Also - lots of great tips & ideas on George's blog.

Probably the most tedious paint job I have ever done. I think I hate painting the most.- 6 comments

I frammed the front outside with channel so I could slide a piece of plexy glass or clear plastic in and out. I want to keep the dirt and dust away and curious fingers too. lol The rest of the pictures show each room decorated and furnished....there are still a few things left to do with the decorating...but I suppose that part of a dollhouse never really gets done. Thanks for taking the time to look at my pics.
