  1. Hi All !! I have exciting news. I have reached a partnership agreement with JBM Miniature Furniture. I am now the JBM distributor for all of North America. All JBM orders, wholesale and retail, will now be shipped from Indiana. Invoicing will be improved, delivery time will be improved and available inventory will be improved. The inventory is in transit and it will be all setup and ready to go Memorial Day weekend. I have spent the past several weeks working on system improvements, advertising and online store setup. I have also committed to several shows, so you will now be able to purchase JBM Miniature Furniture (and my other items) in person at some of your favorite shows. These include: Dayton -- August 15-16 Aztec Wholesale Show -- August 22-24 Orlando Miniaturia (new show) -- September 4-6 Indianapolis -- September 18-19 (pending) Louisville -- October 24 Philadelphia Miniaturia -- November 6-8 Chicago Wee 'c' -- November 13-14 Chicago in 2016 others TBA Those of you that know me know that this is a huge change from my normal three shows per year plan. I am still working on my All About Miniatures website, but have had to put it on the back burner (again) as I am opening an Amazon store first. The Amazon store opening will be June 1. More news to follow as dates draw closer. I may be buying another miniature business next weekend as I dive deeper into this. Thank you to those who supported me as I mulled over this decision.
  2. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

When the goodies are arranged this seductively, what tiny visitor will be able to resist? Photo 3 of 4 used in the Creatin' Contest entry.
  3. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Birdseye view of the shop, stuffed-to-the-gills as any good shop should be. Maple tree "wall hangings" for sale on the back wall; handcrafted maple (wood) candlesticks and other tchotchkes in the corner by the sliding barn doors, maple-themed wall sconces on the other side of the sliding doors... ... you can never have too many finishing touches, of course!
  4. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Thorny Rock, Maine seems to be blanketed ;) in one last spring snow today, but brown leaves are still blowing about. Ice melt sits in the back of the shop, waiting to be dragged out at the first sign of slippery walkways. View from the back of the shop, sans roof.
  5. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

On the day of the "final" photo shoot (gathering pix for submitting to the Creatin' Contest, and good pix generally), I transformed a section of bedroom into a very messy winter wonderland, like Maine in late spring, added every last detail to every last surface, lit that room with everything I could move in, until finally I remembered how hot it can be under the lights on a stage—and then began taking shots from every angle imaginable. It's fun to take shots as you go along, but seeing the whole scene staged is kind of magical. Well, it's magical afterwards, when I'm not sweating under the lights and trying to find a good place to set the tripod and worrying that nothing will come out well and hurrying so I can can make use of the waning afternoon light coming in through the windows as well... A shot of the sugar shack, the HBS kit that started this project, looking in from the back corner of the building.
  6. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Reads: Sugar Shop: 100% Pure Maple—Maple syrup • Maple fudge • Maple candies • fresh Maple-taffy pulling in the snow Intended to have a slightly-hurried feel to it. Why would our tiny friends the Aucoins be too slick, when simple will do?
  7. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

What the customers see, before they decide to come in from the cold!
  8. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Every day that I worked on this shop I was hungry. Heck, I'm hungry just editing the photos now. Can't imagine why...
  9. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Yum! In addition to candies, syrup, and tuques, it looks like there's even one of Thérese's famous maple cakes for sale today!
  10. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Detail shot of fudge, platter of cookies, paper plates in a basket, a box of popsicle sticks, and jugs of backstocked maple syrup below.
  11. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

A painting of Thorny Rock's famous(ly tiny) lighthouse watches over the scene. The shutters are open to take orders from outside, and let out some of that wonderful-smelling steam from the next room. Fresh fudge is being cut, paper plates and popsicle sticks are ready for candy-orders and taffy-pulling, a plate of cookies sits on a low barrel for the kiddies while mom and dad shop... ... I hope Bonnie doesn't spot the cookies!
  12. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

There's Thérese's sweater-jacket, hanging on a coat rack, and Bonnie, the Aucoins' golden retriever, waiting at the door... does she hear something outside? Eager children, playing in the snow?
  13. Hello, this is my very first post here as I've only just joined this community forum, so be kind!! My name's Niccy, and I'm 1 third of Magpies-Miniatures.net... Magpies-Miniatures is a family run business, from Near Ulverston, in Cumbria, UK. We are based on the edge of the stunning Lake District, and have a good deal of country air running through our lungs, and we consider ourselves to be extremely lucky to bring our services to you from such a beautiful corner of the world. There are three faces here behind the scenes - Mandy is the business owner, founder, and holds great knowledge in all things miniature. She has been behind the scenes from the very beginning, and with the help of her husband, Jon - is the one responsible for the website!. Jon has been the quietest member of the team, but his talents in computer programming, databases and the fact he's extremely artistic and fantastic at any craft he sets his mind to- he's incredible valuable in our eyes, and those of our business too. The newest member of the team is myself, Niccy. I am the daughter of Mandy and Jon, and hold college qualifications in Art and Design, which is where my passion lies. I have taken on the role of keeping the website updated and looking fresh, with improved stock photography, and dealing with social media. All of us have something different to give to the business, which is why we work so well together as a team, in keeping our business running smoothly, and bringing you the service you'd expect as a customer, which has so many of you returning. We stock dolls' house miniatures from a host of suppliers- including heirloom-quality Jia Yi Miniatures, Bespaq, wallpapers from Jackson's, and furniture and accessories from Streets Ahead, Warwick Miniatures, plus fabulously impressive self-build (DIY) kits from McQueenies, and Phoenix Models. If you are looking for something specific and are struggling to find it, again please get in touch and we can have a scout around our suppliers to find what you are looking for. We will always go the extra mile for each and every one of our customers. We hope you enjoy looking around our webstore, find us at www.magpies-miniatures.net I will be popping on to the forums again soon to participate elsewhere, but for tonight my bed's calling!! Goodnight folks, hope to wake to some replies and friendly waves! - Niccy
