From the album: Room Boxes, Etc.
I spent some time making some little additions to my Christmas Gift Box: I added LED lights to the fireplace and changed the tree lights from battery pack to a button cell. It will make turning on the lights SO much easier! I also found that 3 candle piece in my stash, so I added that and a few more bits of greenery and gold baubles behind the Nativity set. If I decided to put the tea cart inside the box I will eliminate the stool to make room....but for now I just put it outside. Oh- just FYI, I do have an acrylic panel to keep the little treasures inside safe. Maybe I need to take a pic of that in place. -

I've been working on some new details for my Christmas Gift Box vignette....added lights to the tree, added a faux window, some photos on the walls (yes, that's my fam from last Christmas!) and an adorable little Nativity set! -
Been pressed for time lately and decided to try my hand at my first room box for a quick victory and something new. Just wondering if there is anything special I should know, common mistakes to avoid? It seems pretty straight forward, but those are usually the projects I screw up on the most. Thanks in advance!

Hey friends, I'm new here, and wanted to show off the first dollhouse room i ever made! All the furniture was made by me using walnut, and the floors and windows are with basswood. The walls are actually foam board covered in plaster. I was able to emboss the brickwork right into the foam board, and then use a polishing powder to fill in the grout. The door was also made of basswood, and the stone is polymer clay. The food you see in the photos was also made by me. ;3 Link leads to images. http://imgur.com/a/cM1j2

This is a 1:12 room box we made a year ago to try out open ideas. I used 1/4 channel for the plexiglass to go in. -

I have begun a roombox - first one. It will be a craft room/scrap room. I wanted to upholster my own furniture since I didn't like anything I found. However I chose paint color first and am having trouble matching the pinks so I think I may have to go with greens.....the scale is great though! -

Drawer pull feet with button bases, plaid fabric covered sides. Not too shabby for my first try, I think!- 1 comment

The mugs on the etegere have her family members' names on them, the table and chair are from the furniture she gave me with the dollhouse when I bought it. She loves digital photography and her late husband was a contractor. He was also in the military. Both of my parents are in the Air National Guard, so it touched her that I was the one taking ownership of the precious dollhouse her husband bought her. I included a handmade memorial flag display case (my Dad helped me make it-- hoping he will get bit by the miniature bug too!) And of course, I put in a dollhouse because that is what it all centered around.- 3 comments

Little English Ivy is helping me figure out my room box layout! The room box is a gift for the lady who sold me my Duracraft Farmhouse. I felt that the little mugs with all of her family members' names on them should be returned to her. But I figured she was being practical when she included them with the dollhouse. So I figured I would give her a way to display and keep them safe (they are on the etegere behind Ivy). I'll post pictures when I get it all done. -
I'm in awe of this room box. It's Harry Dresden's lab based on The Dresden Files television series (scroll past the first couple of pictures): http://www.therpf.com/f9/dresden-files-bob-skull-update-24997/#post1210285 I love what can be found through google image searches Now my imagination is whirling with ideas for building something based on the books......

From the album: My Grandparents' Houses
Empty room boxes; I remember arranging and dusting the interiors of these, as they were used for display in my grandparents' store. Unsure of where their new homes will be.
