From the album: Shabby Chantilly
Yay!! The stairs are in. The install gave me serious anger issues but I finally got them in. -
From the album: Shabby Chantilly
Taking a break from the exterior and working on the inside. I tend to jump around and I never go in order. I used wall patch first instead of joint compound. The texture it thicker making it easier to work with. I love using cosmetic sponges to apply the paint.(they are super cheap at the dollar store)...I used vintage white, antique ivory and beach sand. I aged it using the beach sand color followed by my favorite ink pad (course brush dipped onto the ink pad). The ceiling is made from cardstock. Then I used a hot glue gun to make designs to resemble old ceiling tiles. It is coming along. -

Im working on my Tudor Cottage again and realized that Im at the point in the journey (its been several years due to real life) that I can start daydreaming about interior decorating. Started the master "LIST"...love lists....anyway, thought it might be fun to brainstorm together, not just for my benefit but just for fun and maybe would help others too. This is a rustic cottage using the Dura Craft Tudor, no one has moved in yet but the vibe I was going for is kind of storybook/wind in the willows/cozy English cottage/hearth witch. I stated "shopping" list but many items are handmade or from kits This is what I have so far: -Mis-matched kitchen table chairs, style and paint, either Crysnbon kits or Houseworks or HOM -teapot- several, both porcelain (one "special occasion" teapot and several for cupboard in unfinished metal (painted white or black or silver and black) -books (handmade) -paintings -table top flowers in a glass vase (flowers from hanky panky or sdk kits) faux water in vase? -cupboard or hutch - crysnbon or houseworks kit filled with jams/canned and bottled goods/flour,sugar and knick knacks - domed cake stand (glass) -open shelving -indoor potted plant/flower, planted in crockery -handmade broom/dust pan/feather duster -a few "special occasion" porcelain or faux porcelain plates to hang on wall - lit fireplace -hand made rugs/rag rugs, door mat, maybe one nice "fancier" rug upstairs -shabby arm chair (that looks like it is past its heyday, was once fancy -rocking chair -possibly grandfather clock -white everyday dishes/tea cups - chrysnbon -a few pieces of painted furniture Bavarian style -chest or trunk for bedroom -handmade quilt -old clock Any other thoughts? ~loose firewood Oh and I have brought this up here before, scenting your dollhouse.. I found this essential oil that is comparable to the popular essential oil Four Thieves, the one I have is called Medieval. Its based on the legend of the Four Thieves who lived during the black plague and kept themselves from catching the plague by utilizing Clove, Rosemary and Eucalyptus,Lemon and Cinnamon (just a legend Im sure) anyway....I sprinkle essential oil on bedding, other soft surfaces, etc., this scent will be perfect for this house

From the album: Smokey's Place, Spring Fling 2013
Another experiment. Playing with "woodsies" as siding for a rustic look. I need an easy cutter if I'm going to do a lot of this because the cutter I used hurts my hands to squeeze it this many times. I wasn't going to show you the whole front, but then I thought, "why not?"- 4 comments

From the album: Scenes & Other Minis
2 mini Faux-metal bowls 3 mini Plain brown paper bag bowls 2 mini Faux-Tin can vases I made many of these, but this is the set available on eBay; http://www.ebay.com/...=item417d5c6fa3 Real materials/process; They are made from up-cycled paper/cardboard, that has been rolled into tight coils, formed into various shapes, and held together with plenty of glue. After drying, the "Faux metal" bowls/vases are painted with gesso, sanded, and then carefully painted with metallic/other acrylic paint, in a style that creates a faux- tarnished metal effect. The "Paper Bag" bowls are left their natural paper color. They have all been sealed with clear polycrylic for stability and additional shine. They resemble glazed pottery, but if you accidentally drop one, no worries, paper doesn't crack or shatter.© Kyle Lefort 2013

From the album: My Witch's Cottage
So I had never put working lights in any of my dollhouses until this one. Oh my gosh, I was so excited!! It's far from being finished, but I couldn't resist setting things up. There is another floor upstairs that is going to be the bedroom. I'm still waiting for its light.
