  1. I have made working miniature power tools like Power drill, angle grinder, circular saw, air blower...and more with the name of "SAZOH miniature power tools"Here are the video links of my working power drill model (Please subscribe my youtube channel for more videos)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQumYgobBhY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCyQfGLsajI
  2. Hi I am new here and i love making scale models of different things, specially tools. https://scalemodelplanet.blogspot.com/2019/10/miniature-scale-model-power-drill.html
  3. Hello there, I am new to the mini community but have been an admirer for years. I am giving my daughter a house full of furniture for Christmas this year and in the last two days have learned a lot of things about scale that I had no idea existed. My problem is that I fell in love with some 1:16 scale furniture and ordered it not knowing that the home kits are specific sizes. I LOVE the 1:12 scale homes more than the 1:16 scale home and am wondering if the 1:16 scale furniture will look terrible in a 1:12 scale home? I plan on using all 1:16 scale furniture and dolls. Do any of you have both a 1:12 scale home and 1:16 scale furniture that you could show me a picture of the size difference. I've searched everywhere online and have only been able to find pictures of the furniture compared to each other but not a 1:12 scale home with all 1:16 scale furniture inside. Thank you so much! I'm sure as I get building, I will have a million more questions as well.
  4. Hi everyone I am excited to be here. I just found this new hobby and passion yesterday. To be honest, I can't wait to begin building! But there are so many things to consider before jumping into it. I have tried to find out which scale I want to build. A lot uses 1:12 inch scale. And I am sorry, but I don't get the inch scale. I have tried to google it in centimeters, which is what I use. If you take this door for example: http://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Dollhouses-Miniatures/Building-Electrical-Components/Miniature-Carolina-Door/p/21689 Then in centimeters it should be 19.69 high and 8.57 wide and 1.27 thick. Is this a 'normal' scale to use? I think it sounds a bit large for a dollhouse/miniature house. Thank you
  5. Hi everyone! We are working on our Colonial dollhouse at 1/12 scale and wanted to build a town around it...we want to have a steam locomotive going around the town and was wondering if anyone knows which type/scale train set we should look for??
  6. I made a built-in cupboard for the Pierce dollhouse but I may have to rethink it. I really like the way it has turned out but it now seems to overwhelm the space. I still need to add a stove and sink and the remaining room is now very diminished. I am thinking I may remove the top, center drawer and replace it with a farm sink. I'm going to build a sink and stove and then see how everything fits into the remaining space.
  7. Does anyone know what scale of furniture for Marquam Hill Mansion?
  8. I've been saving up some interesting packaging from food items and I'm trying to reduce them in scale for my dollhouse kitchen. My copier can only reduce to 25%. So once I've reduced the item to 25%, I had to reduce it (by making a second copy) down with 33% to get an approximation of 1/12th of the size. All this maths is hurting my head! Am I close enough with my calculations or do you have another method that is simpler/easier?
  9. I have a question about using Popsicle sticks for siding on a 1/12 scale house. I have thin stir sticks, medium Popsicle sticks and thick tongue depressors. I know the stir sticks would be too small, but which of the larger two would be more in scale for wood siding? (I prefer to use these rather than the thin veneer because it seems less likely to warp.) Thank you.

Last fall I decided to try sculpting miniature candles out of polymer clay for a 1:12 Thanksgiving scene. Real candles are cool too, but I noticed that over time they sort of melt and deform on their own, which isn't good if you really want them to look exactly how you made them. With a mix of opaque and translucent white polymer clay, twisted into spirals, I manged to make these look very detailed, given their sizes. I only needed 3 or 4 for my project, but once I figured out the technique, I kept making more. Each one of these is an original sculpture, candles at varying stages of use. No two are exactly same. I have been debting over what to do with them, but I eventually decided to post them as a OOAK set in my Etsy shop; https://www.etsy.com/listing/129816201/15-miniature-hand-sculpted-polymer-clay?ref=shop_home_active

Now that the Hansom Cab has arrived I need to plan out a half scale Sherlock Holmes build.
  14. I found some model kits on eBay that are half scale. There is a Horseless Carriage and a Surrey. I put the links to my gallery images below. I have plans for these and have also purchased a Hansom Cab that hasn't arrived yet. All were fairly cheap, too. Search on eBay in model kits for MOD-AC Horseless Carriage -- http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&image=86610 http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&image=86611 Picture of the real George Selden and his invention -- http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&image=86612 Surrey -- http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/index.php?app=gallery&image=86613

Finished the frames, shutters, door and exterior trim.
  16. My 20 year old daughter wants the two of us to create a "Beauty and the Beast" castle in half or quarter scale. (see picture one and picture two) Do any of you small scale experts know of a castle kit that can be bashed? Maybe there is another kit that can be bashed with some pvc or other products to build a castle? I have looked at Bruce Hirst's molds (here) and think that building from scratch sounds like fun, but I am unsure of the initial investment for what I would want to do. Although having the molds for future builds would be good, too. We are going to bash a Storybook and a Buttercup kits to create Belle's Cottage like this and this. Any thoughts, ideas or product locations are appreciated.

I like this paper. Same story as with the LR and kitchen...bargain basement. I think I might make a hole and a ladder for access.

I haven't decided what to do on the ceilings yet. I have molding, but not sure what t do about texture. This is RL wallpaper I bought at "Asset Recycling." It is like a Habitat for Humanity Resale Store. They used to have hundreds of rolls of designer wallpaper for $1/roll. Not too long ago they dropped the price to 25 cents. Now they don't carry wallpaper anymore. The way they were talking, I think I was the only one that bought any.

I found a nice dark green mis-tint at Home Depot. I like how it came out. I am already thinking about using this color on another project.

Okay, so this is how it is supposed to look when completed...more or less.
  24. From the album: My Travel Finds

This was a special find. In this gallery I mention a Farmhouse kit that I bought in Oklahoma. I found this bag of furniture in the tote with the FH pieces a few weeks after I got home. It is from Debbie Young at "Young at Heart." I couldn't find this set when I searched her site, so I sent a quick email. This was a special kit that was part of the 2005 national convention. There were only 300 made. She didn't specify, but I think it was part of a workshop. At the time it was valued at about $85. Not a bad find as part of a $40 DC Farmhouse kit! I dug deeper to see if the cottage was in the tote, but I am not THAT lucky.
  25. I was digging through one of my travel finds over the weekend (this one) and I came across a furniture pack. It is 1/4" scale Cottage Furniture from Debbie Young. It is enough for an entire cottage. I like it and it will go perfectly with one of the room boxes my wife is going to build (see this). Based on the picture, this package is no longer available on her site. That is no big deal, but I did see some packages there that looked pretty nice. I figure at one time this must have cost someone around $60-$70 (I got the whole DC Farmhouse kit for $40). Has anyone purchased from her in the past? Is there a less expensive place to find 1/4 scale furniture? I haven't done a lot of searching, although I can tell you there is nothing on craigslist and very little on eBay. I am just looking for some feedback.
