If you follow me on Facebook, DeviantArt, or Tumblr (it's also been in my shop announcements since last night), then you've probably seen this a couple of times already, but I'm guessing many of you would like to know that for a short time, everything in my Etsy shop, miniatures included, is 10% off with the coupon code: 10FLASHSALE My shop, btw; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleLefort For anyone intersted, this is the promo notice I've been posting on my sites; "Here in an instant, gone in a flash! What does it mean? What does IT MEAN?" --- That's a Jack Skellington quote, btw. It pops into my head whenever I read the phrase, "Flash Sale", which this basically is, so it's pretty appropriate right now. Artisan Crafts & Eclectic Creations by Kyle Lefort; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleLefort ---+-+--- Take 10% off your purchase, at checkout, only at my Etsy shop. Enter code: 10FLASHSALE ---+-+--- This sale runs until I decide to remove the Special Offer notice from my Shop Announcements on Etsy. Could be a week, could be a month. Who knows? (To be fair, I sort of do) Happy Shopping! ^_^ Artisan Crafts & Eclectic Creations by Kyle Lefort; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleLefort

I received my copy of Dolls' House Shops, Cafe's & Restaurants (Jean Nisbett) an hour ago and am totally giddy from all the exciting ideas. My yarn balls from Casey's blog have turned into wanting a sewing shop, which in turn, is triggering a WANT for a range of shops and restaurants! I would love to build a whole mall (living in Dubai, that would be typical hahahahahaha), so I'm wondering what all of you have used and what you prefer (and why). Would boxes as shopfronts be easier to stack and display side-by-side (with pretty ornamented "facades" of course) or did you make a street full of shops? If I stack boxes and put some connecting staircases to the different levels - would that look stupid or can you imagine that it would work? I like the Brimbles Mercantile a LOT - would it be trashy to make a couple of them (with some minor bashing to give unique features to each one) for a street? Or can you recommend some smaller DH that would fit in with a street-full-of-shops theme?

From the album: Little Shop of Horrors
I "bricked" the sides as there was nothing I could do with the plywood. I am going to add some black wash running down the sides to age it a bit. The "bricks" are actually a floor tile that I picked up at Home Depot. I still had to glue a lot of individual bricks, but these worked out nice and saved me a ton of time. Unfortunately they weigh a ton and I need to be careful moving this thing around. The tile was a grey color. I ended up covering it with Rust-Oleum American Accents Colonial Red I bought from a store that was going out of business. It took three coats and I burned through about six small chip brushes (the cheap disposable ones).© 2013 All About Miniatures, LLC

I found these lights at one of my distributors. I just got lucky that they are already green. I am going to add two to the front and one over the back door.© 2013 All About Miniatures, LLC

Here is an updated shot of the storefront. I still need to do a little cleanup, add the window decals, lights and sidewalk. For comparison, the link to the original storefront is HERE. It is finally coming together.© 2013 All About Miniatures, LLC.

I can't wait! I just made arrangements with the artist on a custom size. It will be larger than the Audrey II in the picture. She has done some beautiful work. Here is the listing in her Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/listing/81004194/made-to-order-audrey-little-shop-of -

The top has a glass window and this is a shot through the glass. Ignore the paint flecks, So I am back up and slightly mobile. This allowed me to start a mock up of my LSH build. I wanted to see what I needed to put on my list. The "monster" will go in the back right corner where the tub sits. I commissioned an "Audrey II" to be built by an artist. I will cut a hole for the door as there was a basement in the movie. The shelf, counter and walls will be painted in dull colors and will be peeling.I also have tin ceiling tiles. The lovely flowers were part of the original box that was built 40 years ago. They are in various states of disrepair, so they are perfect for this. This is the inside of the front panel. It will have a dull, peeling effect like the rest of the interior. This panel swings open so you can see inside the shop. I need to build a couple of shelves to raise the plants up. I will also screen print the windows. I may put a small version of the "Audrey II" in the window like in the movie and poster. -

From the album: My Travel Finds
Okay, not really a travel find. This pic is from the barn sale where I found my "Little Shop of Horrors" house. What you don't see in the pic is the other table of mini furniture and the box of miniature and doll books under the table. Everything to the left of the fireplace was in the shop when it was on display. She had built it as a fabric and dress shop. The lady was kicking herself as she had thrown a lot of mini items away earlier in the week because they had broken legs or other issues (not realizing someone might be able to fix and use them). There is some "Ideal" brand items in here and a lot of other vintage pieces. I have a couple of ideas for them. -

The door is a little funky. I like the stained glass. I don't think I like the door and frame all opening together. -

I love how the front was built It leaves a lot of possibilities. -

She did a great job, but time, moths and barn storage paid its toll. I have already ripped up the floor paper. -
From the album: Little Shop of Horrors
I like the brick paper, but it is faded and moth eaten. I will strip it and figure out what I want to do from there. You can also see the glass top, which will help give the inside some nice lighting. -

Front view of the shop. I just need to gut the inside and repaint and it will be good to go. -
I went to a yard sale last Friday because they had advertised having a "few" minis. I got there to find the building below, all of the contents for it and another table COVERED in mini furniture pieces. Most of them were 1/2 scale and from the 1970's. Some of them are IDEAL brand. I will post pics after I clean them up. The pictures below are of the completed kit that the lady had built as a Millinery/Fabric Shop. It was built in the 1970's or 1980's and I am just curious if anyone knows the make and model. It is front opening and has a framed glass top. I will spend some time cleaning it up and restocking it. I might even change the type of store. Thanks!
