  1. Hi everyone, I am happy to join this community of all things miniature. A little about myself: I have a very creative mind. Ever since I was a kid, I collected toys and simulated battles or adventure stories. I think that miniatures helped me escape from reality and I was able to create my own world. However, growing up, I lost touch of this passion of mine. I hope to rediscover this passion by exploring other people's creative worlds. First 2 questions: Where do you usually buy your miniatures and what do you look for ?

    From the album: Halloween Shop

This was a Halloween Shop I made using a small kit from miniatures.com that is no longer made. I made the bricks out of paperclay. Some of the items are scrapbook pieces, vintage charms, and printables I made from vintage images I found online. The green skull head is hand painted by me. The chair is from Michaels and is distressed using a rust paint.
  3. Hi fellow miniaturists! It's been so long since I have posted, I'm embarrassed. Having an actual retail shop sure keeps me busy, especially being the only storefront in Oregon! The shop is filled to the brim (not literally always have room for more). This historic house located in the Historic District of Aurora Colony Orego is fun, fantastic and I'm so happy I could burst!! If you live in the area or are coming to visit, please stop by! I am always looking for more...incredible OOAK pieces from the finest artisans to less expensive mass produced items and everything in between. Built houses, kits, building supplies, decor and on and on. If I'm cash poor at the time and can't buy outright, consignment is a great option and you earn more in the long run. I have very low fees also. Artisans send me their lovlies from all over the world to sell here in the shop. If you would like to chat about consignment or even the weather I'm always here, so please PM me anytime! Your mini friend, Wendy
  4. Hello from Oregon! I'm a new member and have no idea what I'm doing. This looks like a great place to share and laugh! I own the newest Dollhouse and Miniature shop in the Northwest. I would love to talk to artisians who would possibly consign in my shop. I'm not looking to get rich, I'll be happy to pay the rent. I want to share and have fun! What a wonderful passion we share! I am in this adorable little town, 26 antique shops and almost all are walking distance from each other. Quant little places to grab a snack or even sample wine. I am in the Historic District. Right on Main street in a huge old 2 story house with original hardwood floors throughout. Come and play, visit, meet other miniaturist and have FUN! This is a dream I have had that goes back about 25 years, my grandma and I would sit and plan for hours of what we wanted and what we would do. Some how it's happened. Grandma is here in my heart, guiding me all the way. I moved in here using every penny I could scrounge up, even selling tons of miniatures and collectibles online. Please plan a stop by and share in my dream come true and best of all...I get to live in my "Dollhouse"! mini hugs to all! Wendy Heirlooms...Dollhouse Miniatures & More Aurora Oregon 425-209-9196 exactly 1/2 way between Portland and Salem.
  5. I'd been taking a break from Dollhouse's for a while (partially due to time constraints and lack of inspiration) but when the idea struck me to make a tiny See's shop I just couldn't resist! For those of you who haven't been to See's shop (almost all are in CA) they sell really delicious chocolates and the shops are vintage looking and are all black and white (the shops and uniforms are almost exactly the same as they were when See's opened in 1921) I'm using the Storybook cottage kit, and I got a nice sheet of black and white tiles for the flooring (it's the first time I'm actually buying pre-made floors for a DH) I started on the fimo clay chocolates and bonbons last night (I'll post pictures if I can figure out how to post the pictures from my phone) the chocolate paper cups are going to be made out of tissue paper and I'm going to make the boxes soon (just need to get some good pictures of the 1lb and 1/2lb boxes first) also does anyone know how to make some tiny glass dishes like these?
  6. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

When the goodies are arranged this seductively, what tiny visitor will be able to resist? Photo 3 of 4 used in the Creatin' Contest entry.
  7. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Birdseye view of the shop, stuffed-to-the-gills as any good shop should be. Maple tree "wall hangings" for sale on the back wall; handcrafted maple (wood) candlesticks and other tchotchkes in the corner by the sliding barn doors, maple-themed wall sconces on the other side of the sliding doors... ... you can never have too many finishing touches, of course!
  8. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Several pans of fresh fudge await packaging. Maple swirl! Vanilla maple! Maple walnut, and even double-maple! Maple syrup is condensing into candy in a huge electric boiler, for use out in the taffy-pulling trough. And that plate of cookies on the short barrel looks so good I can almost smell them from here. This must be maple Heaven!!
  9. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

On looking toward the shack, we see trash cans beside the ice melt—one knocked over, which seems to have tools and some replacement tubes waiting to go out into the woods on repair day.
  10. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Thorny Rock, Maine seems to be blanketed ;) in one last spring snow today, but brown leaves are still blowing about. Ice melt sits in the back of the shop, waiting to be dragged out at the first sign of slippery walkways. View from the back of the shop, sans roof.
  11. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Reads: Sugar Shop: 100% Pure Maple—Maple syrup • Maple fudge • Maple candies • fresh Maple-taffy pulling in the snow Intended to have a slightly-hurried feel to it. Why would our tiny friends the Aucoins be too slick, when simple will do?
  12. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

What the customers see, before they decide to come in from the cold!
  13. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Every day that I worked on this shop I was hungry. Heck, I'm hungry just editing the photos now. Can't imagine why...
  14. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Yum! In addition to candies, syrup, and tuques, it looks like there's even one of Thérese's famous maple cakes for sale today!
  15. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Detail shot of fudge, platter of cookies, paper plates in a basket, a box of popsicle sticks, and jugs of backstocked maple syrup below.
  16. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

Looks like someone's just put down the phone to tell someone they're wanted on a call...
  17. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

A painting of Thorny Rock's famous(ly tiny) lighthouse watches over the scene. The shutters are open to take orders from outside, and let out some of that wonderful-smelling steam from the next room. Fresh fudge is being cut, paper plates and popsicle sticks are ready for candy-orders and taffy-pulling, a plate of cookies sits on a low barrel for the kiddies while mom and dad shop... ... I hope Bonnie doesn't spot the cookies!
  18. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

There's Thérese's sweater-jacket, hanging on a coat rack, and Bonnie, the Aucoins' golden retriever, waiting at the door... does she hear something outside? Eager children, playing in the snow?
  19. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

The back wall of the shop features-half-height walls, which I finished off with cafe-style curtains.
  20. From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop

The front counter of the shop is covered in "brushed stainless steel" (actually, a think sheet of aluminum which I then brushed with a wire brush to get the look of stainless), with shelving underneath for backstock and a bump-out on one end for the cashwrap. The stainless is practical as well as visually interesting—it's where warm fudge can be cut and other goodies can be wrapped up for sale. At the far left in this picture you see a large electric-powered cauldron, something like a big crock pot, for heating maple syrup to the "soft ball" candy stage. This hot syrup is used in maple taffy pulling, which takes place outdoors in the snow. Those of you who read the Little House series of books by Laura Ingalls Wilder may actually remember a scene early on in her life where the family does this. It's hugely popular in Québec to this day, and the Aucoins have brought the tradition to their tiny maple sugaring operation in Thorny Rock. (The saws don't belong on the floor... or in the shop! They must have taken a break there without my knowledge on the day I snapped this photo. )

  22. Just added some new miniatures to my Etsy shop-The place is filling up with red hearts. Might be adding more, not sure yet. I'm kind of on a 1/12th scale sewing kick right now, so I'm waiting to see what else I come up with. You can visit my shop here; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KyleLefort Thank you.

    Jewelry Display

    From the album: Various Miniatures

I saw this amazing setup at a little jewelry kiosk in the center aisle of the Mirdiff City Center Mall. I love how they set it up to display all kinds of miniature silver charms (teapots, shoes, handbags etc).
  24. I have taken my website down for maintenance. I am changing shopping cart software and am preparing for a big announcement. In the meantime, I have listed a bunch of items in my eBay Store. Some items are "Buy it Now" and some are auctions. I also have some items marked down for an end of month clearance. Stop by and take a look. I will be loading quite a few more pieces this weekend while I rebuild my website. http://stores.ebay.com/All-About-Miniatures
