Slowly but surely the siding is coming together. -
Hi, I haven't been on here in a while; lots of stuff going on in my life (good stuff)! I have re-started my rehab project of the already-built Newberg; My husband and I are working on it, and we have drawn up blueprints and have cut all the new floors and walls and are ready to glue/or nail them in (my husband is in charge of that part). We ripped out all the existing walls and floors and we are re-designing the interior and part of the exterior. We are going to make fewer rooms, and the living room is going to have a vaulted ceiling! We are inserting a straight-up staircase that will be visible from the front door going straight up to the second level. It will be a pretty steep staircase. We are also eliminating the front stairs and lowering the foundation. I will be posting pictures when I can. Question: What should I use for siding for the exterior? I just want it to look like a modern house with regular siding (I don't know the technical name for siding). Any good suggestions???

Using the centimeter pine slats to do new siding. The color will ultimately be the same mossy green. -

The siding has been giving me fits. I almost gave up and went to clapboard. Almost. But then I decided to slow down and cut out all the window (and door) openings so that I would get the effect I want. It's tedious, but turning out much better. In the top image you can see the piecing, and even though I've lined up the board "planks" the seams will show. Filling with spackle won't hide this, so I had to stop and stare at the house for awhile. I didn't want to cut all the openings; but the oval ones are the most difficult, and while slow going, it's turning out right (see bottom image).- 4 comments

I am attempting to remove siding put on a dollhouse with rubber cement (about 20 years ago) and having a great deal of trouble. Any ideas? Thanks!

From the album: Westville
This is the first bay window I completed with egg cartons for stone. Not a very good job. I did much better with the front bay.
