"Érabière Aucoin," literally, means "the Aucoins' maple-sugaring business." And of course the more common term, among small businesses especially, is "sugar shack," so the Aucoins combined both their native and adopted languages into their business name and logo. The sign was made by photoshopping an image of a maple syrup jug into broad shades of grey and overlaying it with their logo in orange, then adding a frame; once the whole thing was printed out, I gave the letters and the frame several coats of clear nail polish to make them pop off the surface like embossed, lacquered metal.
I wish I had more time to carve a cash register from scratch, but this printie stood in nicely until I make time for a better one. The "cowboys" sign gets tiny hooks and becomes a keyholder at the door of the shack, and for folks who go out into the woods to check their taps, a "No Hunting" sign on the property is surely a must!
