From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop
"Érabière Aucoin," literally, means "the Aucoins' maple-sugaring business." And of course the more common term, among small businesses especially, is "sugar shack," so the Aucoins combined both their native and adopted languages into their business name and logo. The sign was made by photoshopping an image of a maple syrup jug into broad shades of grey and overlaying it with their logo in orange, then adding a frame; once the whole thing was printed out, I gave the letters and the frame several coats of clear nail polish to make them pop off the surface like embossed, lacquered metal.-

From the album: 2014 HBS Creatin' Contest--Erabliere Aucoin, Sugar Shack and Shop
Reads: Sugar Shop: 100% Pure Maple—Maple syrup • Maple fudge • Maple candies • fresh Maple-taffy pulling in the snow Intended to have a slightly-hurried feel to it. Why would our tiny friends the Aucoins be too slick, when simple will do? -

I wish I had more time to carve a cash register from scratch, but this printie stood in nicely until I make time for a better one. The "cowboys" sign gets tiny hooks and becomes a keyholder at the door of the shack, and for folks who go out into the woods to check their taps, a "No Hunting" sign on the property is surely a must!-

I printed out a sign and cut it to the rough shape of the wooden piece I have, but not sure what to do next--have never done a sign before. Should I seal it with white glue or some kind of spray before gluing it to the wood?
