1. From the album: Steampunk

This went through a few different versions, but settled on this one. I had used the faucets and drain on other projects so had to come up with my own. No gears or chains on this one, but the tub will make up for it! LOL!

  2. The Steampunk Summerhouse now has a proper bathroom sink. Kudos to the Chrysnbon Bathroom kit! Other pieces are on the way.....
  3. Finished this up today. This was way too much fun to be legal! LOL!
  4. From the album: Steampunk

Steam line and gauge, also exit point for steam overflow.
  5. From the album: Steampunk

Had to gear down the wringer or it would have shot out the clothes at high speed--have to admit I would really like to see that...

Here's the local chapter having tea.....

  8. From the album: Steampunk

Got the steam gauge installed--just in time too! This cavorting is getting out of hand! Was also thinking about adding a steam whistle too but thought better of it. That's all I need is to hear that going off in the middle of the night....

  9. Had some ideas pop into my head today, so here is the result. He started life as an unfinished Christmoose ornament......
  10. From the album: Steampunk

Saw this little laser cut moose in Michael's at Christmas time and thought it could be steampunked. Got inspired today and decked him out. The googly eyes make me laugh!

  11. Thought you'd like to see my new butler for the Steampunk summerhouse! He started life as a simple wooden mannequin and now rocks a new paint job!
  12. Well, maybe not for all steampunk fans. It's from Hammacher Schlemmer and carries a price tag one would expect of that pricey institution, but it is a lovely piece of work and worthy of reverence. Surely someone here can take off on the technology and creates a steampunk item that moves. Operating details on the website http://www.hammacher.com/Product/86409
  13. From the album: Steampunk

This little guy will be the butler in the Steampunk Summerhouse. One of his favorites are the Borg, so he wanted a little more on his face....

  14. From the album: Steampunk

Actually, he's a clockwork to reduce bulk.....

  15. From the album: Canterbury

Was wracking my brain trying to come up with a cowl vent. After wandering around in the plumbing department in Lowes with my husband, and after walking around with a handful of various parts, the grey one was the winner. Part of the transformation included a drill press, a clamp and a blow dryer! LOL! Now have to do some ageing on the brick paper.....

  16. From the album: Canterbury

The added paint stick foundation! The large bay window will be going on this side.

  17. Since the topic of steampunk has come up in several threads, I thought I'd start one specifically for the subject so we don't miss anything. Several of us are already into steampunk and I suspect there are others who haven't mentioned their steampunk minis or have yet to discover this most delightful and highly addictive sub-genre to our mini world. Casey and Stacey and I have been talking about the steampunk minis we do and how much fun it is. Casey has Zar, her six inch tall steampunk guru, have been creating all kinds of cool minis on her blog and my imaginary friend is a mini mad scientist named Dr. Thaddeus Robertson so you get an idea of how easy it is to get totally immersed in steampunk creations. Stacey is starting to concoct all kinds of cool things and I think that Lene is also into steampunk. Perhaps we have more? Or perhaps we have some we can convert if we show you how fun and easy it is??? It takes too long to type a description of what steampunk is so we'll let Wikipedia do that for us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk Basically it's retro-futuristic and/or a combination of Victorian/art nouveau/sci-fi/age of industrialization. It's all very over the top and opulent and luxurious in a way that can make even steam engines look elegant with lots of brass and copper and jewels. There are so many million ways to do steampunk that the only limitation is how far your imagination can go and that's also what makes every steampunk creation so incredibly individual. It translates into miniature so well that it's as if the two were made for each other. It doesn't even require much of a financial investment because the chances are you already have most of the supplies in your dollhouse stash already. (and old clocks, watches, and other gear driven things are cheaply available at second hand stores plus a whole treasure trove of nuts, bolts, and other doo dads at any hardware store for pennies) My steampunk mini gallery is here along with the back story about Dr. Thaddeus. http://www.debsminis.com/steampunk_miniatures.htm <striking a dramatic pose and raising on hand in the air> I swear that I have only begun to steampunk my minis!! Eventually I'll build a steampunk Vineyard Cottage for Dr. Thaddeus and have Julie Campbell create the doll for me (who will probably be based on a photo of my not-so-mad scientist father). I'll let Casey and Stacey show you their steampunk creations and tell about their love of the genre in mini. Hopefully others will join in with their work or ideas or thoughts about exploring a new addiction. As with any other type of mini, we get a lot of inspiration from real life steampunkers.........and just like any other item, if it can be made in real life, we can do it in miniature! So I'm gonna start off the inspiration pics with this one of a steampunk tricycle. Of all the people on the face of the earth, can you imagine anyone else who could rock this ride any better than our own Holly? Hey Holly!!! Can we come to your house and trick out your trike? Deb

Glued this together this morning. Some pieces are just sitting there to keep things square. Some bits to "see how it will look". Will be good now and wait 24 hours--already got eager and popped one wall off and had to re-glue. Next will be adding to the foundation to make the whole thing taller.

<p>&lt;p&gt;Made this just for fun last night---what do you think?&lt;/p&gt;</p>

  20. From the album: Canterbury

Watched a Youtube video about making steampunk jewelry and got inspired to make the gear part of the steam powered shutters. Used some of the clock parts that Vicki sent as well as purchased gears.

  21. Couldn't sleep last night after watching "Non-Stop" so stayed up until 3 am making this. Will have to install final piping after it is in place outside the house. Betcha can't guess what it started out as......
  22. From the album: Steampunk

<p>Found this on Ebay and with a little tweaking became a port hole for the Steampunk Summerhouse.....</p>

  23. From the album: Steampunk

The newest addition to the steampunk endeavors! ;Started with a Chrysnbon grandfather clock kit and just went from there!

  24. From the album: Steampunk

Just plug the rubber hose into the nearest gaslight fixture, light the flame, pour water into the top resevoir and you have hot water for tea!

Thinking out loud here--working toward steam-powered shutters.
