  1. Well thanks to Craig's list I have another hobby to try, steampunk. There was a listing for misc. craft supplies for $5 and the pictures showed a bag of embroidery floss and some beads. Well the lady dropped it off to Chad at his work because it was close, and what a deal! There were 140 full skeins of floss, two quart bags of all sorts of beads, a bunch of scrapbooking stamps, and a large bag of watches, so many gears and springs and cool looking pieces! I've been looking at images online and have decided to try and make a steam punk spider, just what I need, another craft project Or maybe even a steam punk style dollhouse ?
  2. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the exterior Stonework/tarnished metal Medallion that sits above the front door. I made it using egg cartons, gesso, Paperclay, and acrylic paint. And yes, I sketched this out first. XD More info on the blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/

  3. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the Kitchen. The walls are scrapbooking paper, except for the door which is painted bass wood. The floor was made by cutting baked Polymer clay sheets into tile pieces that I glued to graph paper and sealed with polyurethane. With the exception of the tea kettle, everything in this photo was hand made out of some of the following; Egg cartons Popsicle sticks Bass/balsa wood Various papers/cardboard Polymer clay Plastic bottle tops Pipe cleaners Craft foam Aluminum wire Rocks/sticks from outside Beads Fabric Glass mosaic pieces Acrylic paint Polycrylic Read about the whole project and see more photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbanite-entry-steampunk.html

  4. From the album: The Steampunk House

The Steampunk House, the end result of a lengthy blog challenge/contest. It was a quirky cabinet, but now it's a Steampunk themed dollhouse. How cool is that? This is a close-up of the attic Observatory. Materials; Paper bags Popsicle sticks Bass/balsa wood Various papers/cardboard Beads Fabric Acetate Acrylic paint Polycrylic Other props Read about the whole project and see more photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbanite-entry-steampunk.html

This is a close-up of the floor, found in the attic Observatory. It's made out of Popsicle sticks, that got a light wash coat of metallic gold/silver paint, sealed in Polyurethane. The Steampunk House, the end result of a lengthy blog challenge/contest. It was a quirky cabinet, but now it's a Steampunk themed dollhouse. How cool is that? This is the Bedroom. The walls are a painted brown paper bag, except for the door which is painted bass wood and some findings. The floor is remanent upholstery fabric. The small accessories were either, bought, found, or gifted to me, BUT the steampunk bunkbed is 100% handmade out of the following; Bass/balsa wood Polymer clay Aluminum wire Fabric stretched out cotton balls paper Acrylic paint Polycrylic More info on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbanite-entry-steampunk.html

  15. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the top monitor fridge, Open, in the Kitchen. Even Steampunks need a place to store their food, but a modern day fridge just didn't cut it. After a few suggestions from my blog followers, I decided to go with an old school top monitor fridge (they run on propane instead of electricity-and you can buy refurbished ones from some antique dealers). This miniature was made out of bass wood, polymer/paperclay, cardboard, muslin, aluminum wire, acrylic paint, and Polycrylic. 17. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of a counter unit and industrial spring stools, found in the Kitchen. The mosaic portion of the counter top swivels away from the wall to create extra bar/table space for guests. And with the industrial spring bar stools, everyone gets a place t sit...and bounce. The main counter is a mix of balsa wood Popsicle sticks, string, paper, craft foam, acrylic paint, aluminum wire, and rocks (weight to anchor the mosaic section). The portion that swivels is made from real glass mosaic pieces, grouted with a mix of craft foam, Polycrylic, and black paint. The industrial springs are really pipe-cleaners, sealed, painted, and then sealed/painted 2-3 more times after that (They really are springy). The seat portions are plastic bottle tops, stretched out cotton balls, and cotton fabric. Read about the whole project and see more photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbanite-entry-steampunk.html

  20. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the eclectic tile floor, found in the Kitchen. It was only supposed to cover half of the room, but at the last minute I expanded to design to fit the entire space. Thin strips of polymer clay, hand cut into tiles, and glued onto graph paper. Some of the corrugated scrapbooking paper, from he fireplace's back-splash and some gold wrapping paper were also mixed in to help tie the whole room together. Everything was then sealed with Polyurethane. Read about the whole project and see more photos on my blog; http://kyle-lefort.blogspot.com/2013/05/undersized-urbanite-entry-steampunk.html

  21. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of a counter unit, found in the Kitchen. The mosaic portion of the counter top swivels away from the wall to create extra bar/table space for guests, and then slides back up against the wall to allow more walking room in a very cramped space. Yeah, I put a little too much thought into this dollhouse. XD The main counter is a mix of balsa wood Popsicle sticks, string, paper, craft foam, acrylic paint, aluminum wire, and rocks (weight to anchor the mosaic section). The portion that swivels is made from real glass mosaic pieces, grouted with a mix of craft foam, Polycrylic, and black paint. 22. From the album: The Steampunk House

This is a close-up of the fireplace, found in the Kitchen. It's loosely based on a small houseboat fireplace I saw during a trip to 1000 Islands, NY. Made to look like riveted brass, it's made out of balsa wood, egg carton, paper, polymer clay, and metallic gold/matte black acrylic paint. The back splash is corrugated scrapbooking paper on cardboard. It's the same corrugated paper used for the shingles on this house, but I cut it to look more like tiles. Both the fireplace and back splash have been sealed with Polycrylic, which also adds to the shine. The logs are sticks from outside, given a light wash of white gesso to give them a nice color contrast from the fireplace.
