  1. From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Po: "And this can be used for the sheets." Me: "Are you sure? It's just so brown..." Po: "What's wrong with brown? It's my favorite color."
  2. Sister Kyoya

    Denied

From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Me: "Po, now that your bed is painted how about your blanket is made out of thi-" Po: "No. It's too bright."
  3. From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Bjørn: "Here," *grunts* "you need some of this. Just squirt it in the gaps..." Po: "But they haven't been glued yet. It's just taped." Leaf: *whispers* "He can hardly hold it. Do you think he could actually squeeze it?"
  4. From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Surprised to see that a good portion of the furniture that came with Storybook Cottage properly fits the 11cm bunch. Dry fitting pieces together as I decide how I want to proceed. My OCD is finding it intolerable not to use wood putty to make the house as flawless as I can after it has been assembled, then paint everything. This is most definitely the harder way to do it.
  5. From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Ringo: "Hey Tama, we can start on this! A house has to have furniture. Here, help me open this." Po: "Oh no! The shingles!" Tama: "But Po gets to choose how he wants everything decorated..."
  6. From the album: Po's House [ Storybook Cottage ]

Tama: "Did you read ALL the directions first?" Me: "I read the part about the shingles, and that's what we are working on." Tama: "..." Me: "Okay, I read part of what it said about the shingles. But I don't want to use tape to keep them all together. I want it to look handmade, so I just ignored that part..." Tama: "..." Me: "Don't worry. Po is supervising and it is his house!"
  7. The little occupant I started building the Storybook Cottage for loves it but has consistently expressed that he needs more space for his things. After much searching I think the Coventry Cottage would be the perfect 'addition' if built on the reverse. The only thing is being so new to actually building dollhouses I don't know if they would fit together even after modification. (I'm totally not afraid of altering the kits if it gets me what I hope for.) Both houses are stated to be the same height so I don't know if that right there would cause issues or how to work around them once they arise. I'm simply looking for advice if this would work, or if by chance someone might have both of those houses to give me an idea if this might work. Ideally I'd like to attach the Coventry to the side of the Storybook without the bay window, so the bay window of the Coventry is on the 'front' of the house with the little porch in the middle. (I hope this makes sense.) I know I could just add an Adam's kit to the side of the Storybook to get the basic kitchen that is needed, but I'd really love the personality that the other two could create. The solution could just be as simple as just raising up the Storybook on a platform to make it high enough that I wouldn't have to worry about mismatched roof edges. I also wonder if anyone has altered/removed the interior wall on the main floor of the Coventry to open up that really small room. I'd be happy to add a column support back in if it is really needed. That space just seems really quite small. Thank you in advance.
  8. Good morning! I have an old Storybook cottage house that my Grandma half built for me as a kid. It is in need of some repairs and I would like to make it usable for my two girls. I've found that the upstairs is an awkward height - it's to high so there isn't enough room under the roof pitch for furniture but there is a ton of room downstairs so I would like to lower the second floor. Also I wish there were more rooms so I am thinking of combining an Arthur house with the Storybook cottage house. We'll see how it goes! I've already started pulling pieces of the storybook apart so I can move the second floor but what I need to know to make sure my plan will work is: 1. How high is the Arthur second floor above the first floor? (so that my second story is level across) 2. How deep is the Arthur not including the porch? Thanks for the help!!! I've tried finding the answer online but can only find overall measurements not specific ones. I've already had to return a different dollhouse addition I'd purchased, it needed so many alterations I might as well have started from scratch so I'm trying to be more thorough in my research before I order this time!
  9. I started building dollhouses in 1990 for my daughters. I have been a permanent resident of Mexico for ten years, which can make it hard to find supplies. Ordering things into Mexico is out of the question because it is too expensive. So I try to bring things back in my suitcase whenever I visit America. I live in an industrial city, at 6,000 ft elevation, and about 45 minutes south of beautiful San Miguel de Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I'm beginning a new house, the Storybook Cottage, haven't gotten very far yet other than sanding a few window frames but I'm excited about the new project. Hopefully I can soon post some photos of my first cottage where I "lived alone" as my personal escape from the craziness of rearing my 4 super neat kids who are now all grown up and all in their 30s. I'm excited to be a member of this forum.
  10. I am missing sheet #7 from kit 8021 Storybook Cottage. What do I do next??
  11. In between making bricks for the Orchid I pulled out the Storybook cottage, I had originally planned on making this a bakery, but the house has decided it wants to be something else. So now it will be Goldilocks & the three bears future home , which I think will work with a few changes. The first will be lowering the second floor , making the upstairs use able, adding room dividers and a set of stairs. I think if I cut the window sills off I can lower the floor and use trim to hold it in place, I think I can make it work. . I found the cutest little blonde haired porcelain doll, she was one of my doll's doll , for Goldilocks ,and I will make the bear family. Sometimes these houses have the best ideas!!
  12. Hi, My sister gave me the Storybook Cottage kit last summer and I have been itching to get started. Fast forward ready to chuck the whole thing in the trash. I am so confused. Does the punch out sides go towards the outside or inside. Completely lost about putting the front porch piece together. Any help? My sister lives in another state so can't corral her to help. I had such high hopes. Thanks.
