  5. Westville005Dec.jpg

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Making slow progress on the Westville.  Widened the attic floor, raised the back/side roof line to add more headroom in the upstairs hallway.  Didn't want the person living in this house to bump head when coming up the stairs into the hallway and doorways.  Created a small bath by taking some space from one of the bedrooms.  More work yet to be done on the upstairs and attic before finishing the roof and finish work.
  6. Greenleaf The Westville 1:12

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Bought an older Greenleaf Westville dollhouse kit used. It looked as though the original owner opened the box and then taped it right back up. All paperwork, even advertising, still in the box. Must have been stored in perfect location as the wood is in great condition: No warped wood, no dry rot nor bug damage.
  7. WestvilleKitchenAngledDoor

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

After moving the stairs to the kitchen, angled the living room door so it would open more into the stairway and living room. Did not want it to open directly into the kitchen.
  8. WestvilleKitchen

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Built the sink cabinet into the bay window. Built the stove, dishwasher, microwave and cabinetry on the wall where the front window originally would have been.
  9. WestvilleKitchenStairs

Moved the stairs from the living room into the kitchen.

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Moved the stairs to the other side of the wall to make room for a music box piano.
  11. Added Support to Westville

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Glued strips of wood that are the same height as foundation pieces to bottom of the Westville for added support and stability.
  12. Angled Front Door

From the album Greenleaf Westville 1:12

Angled the front door to have it open more into the living room.
  13. My first build

From the album My first house - Westville construction

This is my first attempt at building a dollhouse. I'm certainly learning as I go.
  14. Hello, All

Hello, fellow enthusiasts! My name is Jane, and I have been mostly lurking in the shadows since I joined the community in January. I am new as a member, but not as an enthusiast of miniatures. Loved them as a kid, and I still do. My first experience in building a dollhouse was 20 years ago, while in grad school. I constructed the Westville with my former significant other, an architect; it was marvelously relaxing and a great stress buster when deadlines loomed. Now I am about to embark on my first solo effort, the Aster, as a prelude to building the Glencroft. I read the community's posts with great interest and am so impressed. It's terrific to know there's such a varied community, with such a variety of aptitudes. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and learning from you. All the best from the Green Mountains of Vermont! Jane
