Minis On The Edge
I have nothing to read!!! I am waiting for my new books to get here. One of them is Stephenie Meyer's "The Host". It comes out May 6th. The other one is a new release too but I can not remember the name of it. I have been listening to some audio books as I work, the one right now in the CD player is: "Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette" by Sena Naslund I'm on disc three but still am not really "into it". amandabee154
I'm actually doing Weight Watchers, and to keep myself from mindlessly eating I have gotten a few books to read in my quiet time- Right now I am re-reading one of the best books ever- Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice... but this time to make it a little more interesting I bought the annotated version which gives little side notes about the housing, furniture, clothing, manners, way of speaking, etc., etc, of the time. It is very interesting and has helped me somewhat in doing my dolhouses. I have been inspired to try and recreate some of the furniture from that time. Jokelly
Right now I am re-reading one of the best books ever- Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice... I'm reading it, too, right now. I was inspired to pick Austen back up after the PBS Austen-fest of Masterpiece Theatre on PBS this winter. I'm at the end where Lydia has come home to lord her marriage over the others. I really want to read Persuasion next.
havanaholly
After getting thoroughly disgusted with Michael Crichton's State of Fear I'm reading his Travels and even in his autobiography he writes fiction! Since I can't read just one book at a time I'm also reading Anthony & Cleopatra (McCuller's sequel to her Caesar series) that DS#3 loaned me, and A Fine & Pleasant Misery by Patrick McManus (described in the Introduction as "the outdoors world's Bob Benchley"!). texasbuilder
I am a multi-tasker for sure. Now reading: If democrats had any brains, they'd be republicians. Ann Coulter Saints and sinners, a history of the popes. Eamon Duffy Misquoting Jesus. Bart D. Ehrman Purity of Blood. Arturo Perez-Reverte I always have several books going at once to vary the reading effort. .........while... rehabing the Franklin .........and..... building the Winston Cottage and the Bayberry Cottage .........and.... just stained my deck .........but.... taking today off as the humidity outside is oppressive and I don't feel like doing anything at all except two crosswords in the morning paper. twilight1000
Currently, I'm reading 'Fortune's Daughter' by Alice Hoffman. I really like her style of writing and am almost to the last of her books in our local library. And I'm reading 'The Fabric of the Cosmos' by Brian Greene. It's kind of like physics for dummies. I got interested in physics while watching the series 'LOST'.
sommerstern7
I am reading a book written about the crooked dealings of my hometown written by Martin Yant(Columbus Dispatch) and starring my murdered godmother, my estranged godfather, and half the people I know in my community. It is titled Rotten to the Core. The guy that wrote it was a family friend who worked as a reporter for the newspaper called the "Ohio Observer". When he tried to expose the very corrupt ongoings of the police department in the 60's-70's as well as the underground dealings in various forms of pornography, prostitution, and murder connected to the Highway Safety Foundation, a bomb was thrown through the large front window of his house. Fortunately no one was hurt. As a result, he moved himself, his wife, his daughter (a friend whom I often played with as little girls) and the rest of his family to Columbus, Ohio from where he has written two top sellers-- the aforementioned book, and another entitled Rotten to the Core 2. It is truly a Horror story, and I hope that someday it is made into a movie. It would serve all involved right!
whippet-gal
I've just read 'Case Histories' by Kate Atkinson & am almost through 'One Good Turn' - her latest book. I really like her style of writing & will be sorry when I've read all of her 5 or 6 books. Jackie
Minis On The Edge
The book I had been waiting on by Stephenie Meyer titled "The Host" has come and I am reading it slowly (Too much work and then just taking care of the kids). So far though I really like it. It's Sci-fi which is different for me but I like it so far

ChildhoodRevisited
I am reading "The Lost - a search for six of six million" by Daniel Mendelsohn. It is a memoir of the author's search to find out what happened to his Grandfather's brother, wife, and 4 daughters during WWII. He does know they were killed (Jews) but does not know the history of what happened. It is very interesting. Even though I was brought up Catholic, I have no tolerance for religions or goverments that have no tolerance for others than their own. I try to live the philosophy that each to their own beliefs as long as it does not hurt others. I brought my daughters up that way too and they are both very accepting of others religions, races, sexual preference, etc. Sorry, will get off my soap box now.
