Beverly, I feel your pain. We took The Beautiful Melody over to our friends' to board for us whilst we're away, and she lookks like we starve her, the way she's wasting away. I asked them to please feed her twice a day to see if it helps at all. Her fur is still soft and she still has that sweet puppy smell when I cuddle her, but her head is nearly all-white and now those protruding bones! I realize she's very, very old, but she still likes to ride in the back of the truck and bark at the squirrels.

We took The Beautiful Melody to our friends' place to board for us whilst we're on the road again, and in the past couple of days she looks STARVED; her little bones stick out like there's no meat on them! I asked our friends please to feed her twice a day to see if it helps. She is covered in benign (the vet says) tumors, so I suspect that's where a lot of the nutrients are going. She still likes to go "walkies" with Daddy and mark her territory, although she no longer does more than a half-mile, and for a short-hair dog her fur is soft. She still has a sweet-puppy smell when I cuddle her head, and she loves to bark back at the squirrels and chase the 'possums out of her wallowing holes, but she looks bad...

Eyecandy here isn't the same as spending time with one's honey...

Oh no, certainly not! What I meant was the eye candy somewhat compensates for not being able to mini! Nothing makes up for honey withdrawal!

After breakfast the last items go into the camper and we are off for two weeks that will include the Paddler's Renezvous this coming weekend and visits to DH's momma & a cousin I haven't seen in over 40 years (and possibly his brother, whom I haven't seen in almost 50 years!)

After breakfast we finish packing out our Little House on the Highway and take off for another two weeks of paddling, pedalling and hiking, with a couple of family visits thrown in for good measure. Internet access is always tenuous at best, so if you don't see me posting for the next couple of weeks, I'll be thinking of & missing all of you and going into withdrawal.

Well today was expensive!! We decided to go to a shopping mall about 20 miles away. 1. so I could go to Hobbycraft and get some more wood to make my kitchen cabinets and 2. so Chris could get a game of 40K (Warhammer tabletop game).

So after wondering around the mall for 3 hours while he gamed, and spending only a little money on some christmas presents, we had lunch and were on our way to the car... But then a shop display of the Friends boxset at 1/4 price caught our eye. We've already got it, but then saw another boxset beside it that looked interesting...and another and another, all heavily discounted. Did get presents for three family memebers and each other, but spent a lot! Then we went on to Hobbycraft. Didn't spend too much there, but then on to groceries, and again it was quite a lot, but enough food for 2 weeks. Never mind, we got plenty of presents and lots of food!

It was a long day however, so no time to use my wood now! It'll have to wait for tomorrow evening after work.

Wow, Muriel, your shopping gene was in high gear!

Lloyd and I went shopping today, too. Got several Christmas presents and a few little things for the real house. Big Lots had some tiny nativity scene ornaments. I'm going to make a display in the front yard of the Orchid with them. I hate to shop, so am glad to have a lot of present buying out of the way. The store discounts made it all worthwhile.

Time is passing too fast for me! This week I am trying to finish up my haunted house, and get some paintings started for Christmas.

The kids are getting paintings this year for Christmas. I told them I want this to be a homemade Christmas. Money is tight for everyone this year. I'm thinking about making soft toys for the grandkids. :thumb:

I'm back from art camp in the NC mtns. The leaves were turning more gorgeous each day! I got three drawings (out of many duds) done that I'm very happy with. My ancient inner batteries feel soooo recharged! I did give the guys a two hour warning call that momma was headin' down the mountain toward home. To give them credit, no pet died from neglect, dishes had got to the dishwasher, laundry was in the washing machine. No one admitted sleeping through any school/band/work/orthodontic appts, so what happens in our household while mom is away, apparently stays in our household....

I just wish I could continue to hear a bell toll that calls me toward a nicely prepared meal. I took minis to work on, books to read, knitting to knit, but hardly touched them. We were in the studio working till well after midnight each day. The days just went by too fast!

I did get some painting done on the 1/4 scale Kummerow house before I left.

Sounds like you had a terrific time Gayle! Hope you will share pics of your paintings as well :p

We did indeed get over to Denmark today and had a wonderful outing, nice lunch out and a stroll through the small town but alas the mini shopped was closed >sigh< so no new minis... And when I peaked through the windows it looked a little "emptied" out in the roomboxes she uses as a display area, I am getting a little worried that she is phasing out....

Will mail the store to see...

We have had our first snow and the dogs are going nuts. They say it will all be gone for Halloween. Getting ready for the Philly show and got my shopping list ready. Laid in groceries so hubby can survive and showed him how to insure our female boxer gets her meds while we are gone. My arthitus is really acting up and the usual stuff is not working. Sigh!!!

I"M FREE! Just for a few hours I'm all alone!!!!! Yeah! Doug has gone with the game warden to sign up for the handicap elk hunt. I'm celebrating with hard core chocolate mug cake slathered in cherry jam, frothy with whipped cream hot fudge sauce and a cherry! And spiced mocha coffee....what a treat! The dog and I are enjoying our time. Sometimes we are so joined at the hip I can't get a thing done! Nothing! He refuses to go anywhere without me, and I can't get away by myself. Sigh.....................

Have to call my sister in San Jose this morning. Three weeks ago she fell and broke her hip - and her 4 years younger than I am!!!!! Well Yesterday she fell and broke the other hip and when they got her to the hospital they were examining her and gave her an EKG and discovered she was having a heart attack....and while they were putting the stints in her heart - all four valves - they pierced an artery and she almost died. At 1:00 this morning she was stable and I'll be able to call her in a few hours.

What a day!

Yikes! Snow!

It is going to be 48 deg tomorrow (31 deg at night) and Halloween will be 57 deg F (42 deg at night)...in fact it is going to be on the warm side most of next week too..Some days will be in the upper 60s!

WooHoo! I havent had to turn the heat on yet...5 more days until tank gets filled. YeeeeHaa! LOL

I carved a pumpkin, cleaned the back patio, Fred and his friend moved the scooter up there, and I have tons of leaves to pick up.

Today I am making chili for dinner. Cookies are getting started now. Fred and I will do a MEGA cleaning tomorrow and Friday. The girls do not even have all their Halloween stuff together...I do not know what they are waiting for.

What a day Wolfie!! I hope they're looking after your sister better now, and she's on the way to getting better.

Pity about the mini shop Anna, hopefully she's not downsizing!

I had a long day at work. Had delicious Tacos for supper though, which made up for it. And this evening I cut the doors for my built in kitchen. I'm really proud of the job I'm doing! Next is the shelving and drawers in the cabinets, then a bit more design on the doors i think, though not sure the best way to do it yet. I have some thin dowel I can cut out, though might just keep an eye out for some thicker textured stickers/decoupage to put on. Then also have to decide what colour to do it all! But that can wait for now.

It is rather cold here, and just where we sit on the sofa there seems to be a draft, but don't know where it is coming from. But that won't do for the winter, so will have to do more investigating over the weekend I think (It's not the window or door, but there is an extractor fan/air circulator thing that may be letting in the cold air.)

Muriel

 Real life has stepped in and started taking most of my free time. I need to get to Lowe's and pick of some more of that cool pink spackle so I can finish the livingroom floor in the Glencroft. I have made a lot of progress on the kitchen re-do. Just need the finishing touches. I also have the small room on the second floor. I am still trying to decide on the decor for it. Probabley something in yellow. I haven't done a yellow room yet. The Glencroft came to be my nature house. I don't really know how that came about, but it is working. I am hoping to get some quality mini time this Saturday.

Wolfie, I hope your sister is doing better. It sounds like she could use some prayers and hugs. I will include her in mine. How nice for you that you were able to have some "Wolfie" time.

Hmmm ... hunting handicapped elk????I'd think PETA would be picketing! Talk about sitting ducks!

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister and hope the fact that she's stable means she's had the right repairs on all of her broken bits and is on the mend. If I were her, I'm not sure I'd get out of bed for a very long time!

One more day until all heck breaks loose. We brought my miniature totes down to the basement (fred`s idea) so now the diningroom is completely clean. No pumpkin seeds this year. I left them in the cold oven to dry overnight...somebody turned on the oven to cook something and did not take the seeds out..all burned.

I have errands to do today and I do not want to... I think I will type up a nice list of what I have to get and ponder when I am going to do it...LOL

One more cup of coffee should help.

I know what you mean Heidi about not wanting to leave the house!!!! I had to get some groceries for dinner tonight so I have allready been out and about and I am so not going to go outside the door anymore today! Other than that I have been fiddling with Mr LE Arthur, put up some wallpaper in the living room, will add some trim that I painted before I went out for running the errands so they are nice and dry now so I am giong to have fun using my easy cutter in a little while

It is cooooold today! The temp is just around freezing and in the "shady" areas there is still frost on the ground... DH might be true in the prediction of snow tomorrow...

Undecided about how to spend the day. I could do some end of season yard work. or detail/wash my truck...or clean....or reorganize stuff, or chose between a number of dollhouses to work on. Or be lazy and have a movie day. or work on cross stitch...It's too overwhelming to decide what to do.

Think i'll have another cup of tea before i decide....

I'm also good at putting off deciding where to start with all the things I could/should do on a day off. Today was a an ok day at work actually, not tooo busy. And tomorrow I've got the day off :p Yay! (It's going to be extra busy to make up for not so busy today I'm sure!)

Went out for a nice curry with some of my work colleagues. Was nice to socialise outside of work for bit. Now I'm home again, but it's quite late and I've done a lot of yawning, so don't think I'll do any more mini work tonight. Last night I cut out all the doors, so next is deciding which cupboards will have drawers above them, and cutting out the drawer fronts and putting in shelves. It is great fun building something from scratch like that! It is a very satisfying and proud feeling :)

Yawn!

Sleep well people, 'talk' to you again tomorrow
