Awww, poor little furbaby, I hated when things like that happened our Trixie, one feels so helpless! Good thing that you were able to get it to stop though!

Give her some extra cuddles from me OK?!? :D

As for me, I am being veeeery lazy as this blasted cold/soar throat isn't over and done with just yet, still sounds like I have been chewing on those chalk borad chalks... That is, when I am able to form any sound at all... Sheesh!

And I need the voice tomorrow as I have these presentations on the course I am going on Monday/Tuesday. Arrrgh! OK, venting done, feel better, perhaps I should start going through the presentations just one more time.

Anna, sorry to hear about your throat. Lloyd's Creole grandmother's cure-all for sore throats is lemon juice, honey, and olive oil in about equal parts. A teaspoonful sipped every hour or so until improvement. It doesn't taste all that wonderful, but I can attest to its effectiveness.

Anna, you are LUCKY you do not live in our house. Anyone with a sore throat gets forced by Fred to gargle warm water and salt. Blech! I guess since his granny made him do it...we all have to do it..LOL

I have a pic of MF in the gallery that will make you chuckle Anna. I had to move the foot stool because we were decorating the tree. It was put in front of the portable heater.

MonsterFace is not stupid one bit!

Today is laundry day.

Gonna dig thru boxes in the basement to find a cable for my tv and a few other things. I may put up the christmas tree :D

if i have time i need to start scanning photos onto my computer. my brother had this excellant idea that i make a photo dvd to give everyone for christmas. Most of the photos are from my dads house...we haven't seen most of them before. it's pretty exciting. I was going to make a photo cd for everyone to take and have developed so that they could have copies of the photos. i may still do that, but a photo slideshow dvd is such a cool idea....i think that will be my primary project for today, then work on setting up the xmas tree on tuesday.

Made Sunday breakfast and cleaned out the fishtank.

Today I am going to put the gravel in the tank, fill with water, and start the filter. I bought a new filter yesterday so I am all set. I was checking out the fish at the store yesterday.

Because of the shape of the tank, it is advisable to get small fish. They will be able to move around better in the tank. I also want an algae eater.

Then I am going to take the beaded tree apart and try something different. Nat has to type and print her report today also. It snowed a bit this morning. First one of the season. Not much on the ground and now it is between sleeting and raining. Glad I am not going anywhere today.

Perla is fine today. I checked her toe and it is looking good. I will keep an eye on it. I fried her a runny egg as a treat. She loves the yolk!

That is my day...Do not know what is for dinner at all. Some sort of chicken maybe.

Today I have spent most of the afternoon watching chitty chitty bang bang. It is on tv (with pause available) and I keep watching bits in between doing other things in other rooms. Every so often Chris comes in and says 'are you still watching chitty chitty bang bang??!?!?' The children are escaping now, so not too much longer.

IN between I have been masking off and spray painting the kitchen cabinets. I looked through a bunch of kitchen pictures, and quite liked the idea of light blue walls with white trim and cabinets and a dark worktop, but as the room above it is already light blue walls with white trim, thought it wouldn't look quite right... So decided on white walls with blue cabinets instead :p I do have yellow spray paint too, so tried out some to see if I want to do the doors yellow , or if white is better. Still deciding :p

I cooked our main meals yesterday and today, so waiting to see if Chris just might do something for supper (well really I know he won't until I'm absolutly starving and tell him to do something. Then he won't know what to make, and I'll have to tell him that too... and how to make it... I'm hoping practice is making perfect with him in terms of cooking, but might take a lot of practising still!!)

Anna, I'm sure your presentation will go well. If you're still a little croaky, well they'll just have to listen a bit more carefully ;)

Glad Perla seems her usual spirit today, without limping!

I love the dvd idea Marg. I'm sure everyone receiving it will really appreciate it!

Muriel :p

Well, nope not gonna' gargle with salt water LOL, that is what you dip your feet in if you have a nasty non healing wound or stuff like that.... :p that is my story and I am sticking with the olive and honey mix, weird really but I am hoping that it will do wonders!

Have been "cleaining" up the threads on the back of the Christmas carpet and am about to scoot over to the TV sofa and watch a Poirot film/episode...

Actually, Anna, the warm salt water gargle also is helpful. That was the treatment of choice in my house when I was a kid. Think about it ... if salts can help a foot infection, why wouldn't they help a throat infection? We're talking table salt or sea salt here, not epsom salts. :p

Yeah, I approve of salt gargle too - as in it is effective, but yucky. Otherwise (providing you are medically able to take it) gargling with soluble aspirin helps (and though this may sound gross, you gargle with it, then swallow it, thus getting the benefit of gargling with it, and the systemic anti-inflammatory effects)

Weleda mouth wash/gargle is great for gargling too, but quite specialised product and not widely available!

Anna, feel better soon! Skip all the 'tween steps and just gargle with bourbon! Grab a pillow and blankie, Sweetie, and get some rest! Our best cure is homemade chicken soup with real homemade noodles and a just a bit of sherry in the broth. I wish I could get some over to you!

We had a dark, gray, rainy and cold weekend, so today we stayed in and did chores and read. The weather makes it very cozy inside. Christopher baked oatmeal cookies for us and to share with the workers at the garden center he's employed at, and he took them over while they were still hot from the oven. Yum! I'm about to bake a Mexican casserole for supper and then put another load of laundry in to swish. Old Bill, the basement feline, has asked to be in/then out/then in/then out all day. I've dried him some many times that I'm going to make him wash his towels soon :p The upstairs cats have been 'love sponges' all day, so I can't sit to knit without several demanding a warm lap.

I worked at the Art Guild holiday shop yesterday, but the cold rain seemed to keep customers away. Still, there were four of us there, so we just got out painting/drawing supplies and worked while we chatted.

I started a HOM kit of a colonial corner cabinet this afternoon and am working on ideas for a 1700's American room box with some of the nice furniture I found on our trip to TN.

Spent a couple of delightful hours with HavanaHolly and her DH. They were on their way home from Charleston and stopped by to say hello. They are such wonderful people and I was sad we had to leave but my furbaby needed to be let out. Maybe next time, we can visit longer.

I know you've already left Anna, but good luck! Hope that throat is holding up.

Back to work for me after a few days off. The government decided to lower the tax from 17.5% to 15%. What does that really mean to us? Changing millions of price tickets on the shelves! Here of course all our price tickets include tax, so we gotta change them all. So will be going in to work in about 20 minutes, and suspect I'll be changing some prices ;) (At least at the moment I work quite a bit in the dispensary, so will have stuff to do there too)

Hope you all have a good week :p

Now I have a nice blood stain on the top of the couch! Out Out damn spot!
Fred can tell you that hydrogen peroxide will remove the bloodstain.

As Gayle mentioned, we had a delightful visit last evening. On our way to the motel we passed a cluster of shopping centers at one of the interchanges, so after breakfast we're headed to Academy Sports and, if I can talk DH into it, maybe the Hobby Lobby that's there, too, before we head for home. We'r thinking of stopping in Macon, if we make better time. I26 from Charleston wasn't too bad until we passed Columbia, and then we passed four wrecks on the highway and one with a car on its side at an on-ramp on the other side of the road from us. We stopped for sunch in Clinton, SC, and it turned off COLD!!! whilst we were there; but no let up in the rain. Hopefully the interstate traffic will be a bit less ghastly today!

*Priming throat to sing to Anna*

RiiiiColllllaaaaa

Tank is clean as a whistle. I have to purchase an air pump..maybe. I only need a small one for a bubbler. It is not like the huge tank we had where we really needed the extra air pumped in. Then I saw a Buddha I want to put in the tank. After that I will put some fish in.

It is PMS alley in our house today (not me). I am walking on tippy toe egg shells until the storm passes. Yucky day today too. Warm but coldy and rainy. I have to take Chels to get her fingerprints re-done at the PD today. The FBI said too much ink was used the first time.

Do not know what I am going to do today. Maybe wrap some presents since Nat is at school. She is sneaky and I have to get them done so she will not snoop them out.

Holly promised to show me how to tat before the Atlanta show but we didn't get the chance. Now I have a general knowledge of how it's done so I need to practice, practice, practice.

We did have a lovely visit and maybe next time we'll get to talk more. We didn't scratch the surface of all the topics. Secretly I'm hoping Holly will reveal some of her building expertise to me.

Gayle in Irmo, we were visiting DS#1 & new grandson in Charleston for Thanksgiving until yesterday. The weather was TERRIBLE! I did get DH to take a LONG route home, via Spartanburg, so we could spend time with Gayle there to work on the tatting issue. I don't know about building "expertise", I haven't built a RL case clock! We'll have to go back for Miss Grayson's birthday, so who knows... (and if I have any say in the matter it'll be in the camper'!)

I just finished loading up Fred`s iPod with music and he is off on his walk.

I am helping Nat with a science project. She is making a model of a cell. Using a styrofoam ball. I am going to put another coat of paint on it for her so she can start marking it tonite.

Dishes are done. It says it is in the 50s out but I am cold..Brrrr!

I have the day off but not sure what to do with it. I have a large number of projects I could turn my attention to. I painted my family room the other day but not sure i like the color. I has lightened up and has like a slightly orange/peachy cast to it. I have given myself a couple of days to decide if i was just seeing that on one occassion or on more than one occassion. I just don't think i can live with that color thruout my whole house (i was going to have to buy more paint anyway)...I do think i need to rethink my color. i guess i'll have to call my brother and asked him the name of the color again...what a dummy i can be. I love my brothers paint color that he did in his house recently but now i can't remember the name of it and he said it's not in the paint samples, you would have to tell them what you wanted. Darn, I don't want to have to repaint but at the same time i will be completely displeased with the color. okay i've made up my mind, it will have to be done! guess that is what i'm working on today.
