What are you up to today? This week?

Last night had a momentary scare as my eye started causing me a lot of pain and I was about to put in an emergency call to my dr. Then I realized it was my sinuses going into overdrive due to the weather. Mega doses of meds cleared them out and now back on regular regiment. Sigh. it will be another two to three months before the final surgery can take place. On the positive side, I can now see shapes and blobs of color more clearly. I hope that means that eventually I will recover most of the vision in that eye.

You have sent me out lots of thoughts during my surgery and recovery and I have been sending them out to you. How are you doing otherwise? It must be hard keeping your head down all the time..do you still have to do that?

You deserve a great big super duper mini after you are done!

Muriel,

The sausages were good. I had it for lunch. Tonight Natalie, her buddy Raymond, and I are having chicken quesadillas. We have them every Monday. He is her best bud and he comes by often but he is always here for Monday night! LOL

I have 2 chicken breasts roasting as we speak in the oven.

It is really warm out there today. Like in the 50s! I sure wish the sun was out for it..gives the furnace a break today.

Your quesadillas sound wonderful, Heidi. I often order cheese ones when I go out to the restauraunt if I don't know what to eat. Everyone is pretty much on their own here tonight. DS#2 went to a friend's for dinner while I was out with DD, DH is away because of work, and DS#1 is not home yet from his exam, so he must have stopped at a friend's house on the way home. Not like him to still be out at this hour. I hope that he gets home soon.

I would like to thank all the people on this forum who have been keeping me in their thoughts and prayers.

I went down to the Social Security Administration today and filled out forms for disability and what not. Welfare has me working M-F at the local Humane Society. A local care group picks me up and brings me back home. I love taking care of the cats that are up for adoption.

As for everything else, I just got the medical cards today, still waiting on everything else to show up/kick in. I will have to find someone to drive me to a store so I can buy a cheap phone. Or I may skip that and just go for internet so I can keep up with all my internet stuff (Like here) :) I may not have the time to respond, but I do get to read what's posted in this thread. I miss working on my minis but once things get straightened out, I hope to be able to work on them some more.

The twins are coming, the twins are coming! :p One if by natural, two if by C section!

Not me :) , the neighbors, for whom I babysit. I watched Robbie during today's prenatal appointment, and they want to keep her, because her blood pressure is up, so tomorrow they will deliver my nephewlets, William and Alexander. So babysitting this evening and tomorrow, while they are both at the hospital.

Just like I suspected, he stopped at a friend's on the way home and they lost track of time playing soccer on the PS3. At least he came home safe and sound. :)

Glad he's home safe and sound Liza!

Very exciting Lynette, hope everything goes well. I'm sure you'll keep us updated!

Off to work today. Little shop, but it is quite busy. There's hardly any space to work, which makes things seem even busier. Hope it is a good day! Worked there Saturday and there weren't any issues, so hope that continues into today

Then home to finish and wrap the home cinema scene, and do some tidying for people coming round tomorrow to play dungeons and dragons with Chris.

Heidi

Thanks for your kind thoughts . Yes I am doing much better now and I no longer have to keep my head down. That darn retina just would not stay put after the doctor did his thing and it took three actual surgeries to stitch down. He put in what is called a buckle during the second surgery and during the third he all but glued, stapled and nail the retina down!! They put in a heavy synthetic oil in the eyeball to place more pressure on the retina and hold it in place. (The fluids are suppose to help in that and the regular stuff was not doing it.) The problem was that pressure started to build up so emergency surgery removed most of the oil and the remainder is what causes the vaseline effect when I look out. I can see colors, blobs and shapes but no clear small detail. As a result my depth perception is pretty whonky right now although it should get better with time. In another couple of months they will take the remainder of the oil out and hopefully I will have nearly as good vision as before.

Still no twins yet, but they should be puting in the epidural soon. The child seat is in my car to take the older-brother-in-waiting to the hospital to visit. When I talked to Aileene a couple of hours ago, labor pains were about 3 minutes apart. I have no idea how that translates into how soon it may arrive.

Tick, tick, tick....

It's like waiting for glue to dry!

I agree, way more exciting!

Thanks, Muriel.

Life is finally starting to settle down for us after two weeks of rush visits to dr's and ER's for me and my daughter. I'm getting better and she saw a specialist yesterday and should be on a slow road to recovery as her body gets pushed back to normal. However, if you didn't know she had problems, you would not be able to tell as she still goes to school and all that stuff.

Babysitting Robbie tonight while Robert goes to the hospital to visit Aileene and the twins. Things were going goodd; he was hepking me put trash and recycling in the bins, but in the last half hour he's been getting tired. And singing him to sleep isn't working.

Yes, I always snuggle and rock him while singing. He finally dropped off after one hour of our sleepytime routine  . I think that sometimes little ones get so tired and cranky that they won't let themselves relax and go to sleep. I know I have a hard time getting my mind to disengage at bedtime and have to listen to audio books which distract me, but ones not so interesting that you are riveted.

I plan to take him sometimes for so he can have undivided attention, which I believe will help him adjust. I'm trying to give him lots of praise when he does something good; I've heard that generic praise isn't good in the long run for their well being when they get to be older, but specific behavior being recognized gives them a foundation for their developing self esteem.

It's nasty here this morning. Rain and wind, and collllld. Supposed to snow tonite. I only sub until lunch, so hopefully I can get in and finish grouting my foundation this afternoon. I have to pack grandson 2's birthday presents and get them in the mail, also. I kind of hope it is bad tomorrow and they don't have school. I don't want to get out in the bad weather!

Just back from a long day at the VA ... Lloyd had a chest CAT scan that confirms a touch of emphysema, got his pacemaker checked by the manufacturer's rep, and met with the coumadin clinic fellow. I got to meet Patrick, the wonderful pharmacist who helped us through Lloyd's .... ummmm ... adventure last month. He and I got to know one another very well over the phone.

In between appointments, we made it to the Honda dealer to have a burned out headlight replaced and to Hobby Lobby, where I stocked up on stripwood, both balsa and beechwood, in various thicknesses. Also found some lace to decorate the oak shelves in the quilt shop doorknobs and a door knocker for it. Also bought a kitchen set. The quilt shop needs a kitchen to make refreshments for workshops and the quilt show, plus the lady proprietor needs a kitchen for her own use. I really don't want to have to include a hot plate and mini fridge in her living quarters.

Found some very nice (read tiny) brushes and a nice stipling brush on the clearance wall and some scrapbooking items on sale for my goddaughter.

Her mother claims she is interested in scrapbooking. She is 12 and has the attention span of a gnat. Mom is buying up scrapbooking stuff for when Mollie "ready to begin". Mom is crafty. I have a feeling it is Mom who is interested and that young Mollie probably won't be terribly involved, but that's okay.

Despite the various sale and clearance, I left them the greater part of $100 and the ka-ching of the cash register ringing in my ears!

Since we have had an installer replacing our kitchen/eating room vinyl flooring for the past two days, I have had our budgie upstairs in our bedroom so that she is away from the dust and smells. The floor is now done  so I will bring her back down in the morning.

Day off today to visit the diabetic consultant. Please keep your fingers crossed that he'll say yes to a pump. He's been very resistant, but I do fit the criteria i think. In many other places in the world a pump is a common way to help control diabetes, but in the UK they have been resisting it. It is getting more common now, but apparently I'm in a resistant area still :( Where my mum lives they've basically said everyone should have it if they meet criteria and want to try it. My sugar levels have not been controlled with multiple injections, and I'm not saying the pump is going to be a miracle cure, but I want to be given the oportunity to try it!! Grrrrr. Feeling stressed and apprehensive about the appointment.

Gave my friends the Home cinema scene. Pics in my gallery  Had to just quickly drop it off before work, but they opened it when they got home. Think the lady had had a bad day at various appointments, so it was a good day to give it and hopefully cheer her up and distract her a little.

Muriel, I hope you get your chance to try the pump. If I was in your situation I would want to try it.

Glad to hear that your gift was able to cheer up your friend.

I need to exchange a pair of gloves for my husband today, and will run into Michael's to see if there's anything there that I just can't live without...as long as it's cheap and I can use a coupon....lol
