What are you up to today? This week?

Pain in my mouth not as bad today overall, though I have lots of tender spots, and now a swollen lymph node. I've been remaining pretty quiet today, last night I found that helped a lot. I also ran out of ibuprofin this morning and took the last one with a naproxen tablet (Aleve). I remembered after taking it that Jake's orthodontist recommended it for pain from readjusted braces. A study showed that naproxin worked better on dental pain that ibuprofin. I got some more ibuprofin just to be on the safe side.

DH suggested I have Jake drive me to the store today. You know how teenagers can bellyache, he complained a few times about my rotten car (after he missed letting out the parking brake and parked too far from the curb, etc.) I happen to have a very nice car, btw. Anyhow, after he brought the groceries into the house, he realized he had left his wallet in the car and went out to get it. He came in 2 minutes later and announced the handle on the car door came off in his hand when he went to open the door. His father went out with him to look at it, and sure enough, the handle was hanging there off the side of the car.

My son said if I wanted to use the car I'd have to get in on the passenger side and slide over. I'm too old and too big to heave myself comfortably over the console and into the driver's seat, thank you very much. If the dentist can see me Monday morning I shall have to drive the truck. I've never driven the Silverado. I drove dh's old truck a few times, but it's been at least 6-7 years ago.

I did google about the door handle. Turns out Buick knows their Lucerne driver's door handles have been falling off. The car is still under warranty for another month.

Today my hand is worse than yesterday - whcih means it'll probably be better tomorrow. I hope. If anyone else here has had gout, then you know thepain is horrendous. Been soaking it and elevating it - just picture me hailing a cab or whatever,,bur frankly I feel like just bawling at this point. Even clicking my mouse is almost more than I can bear - Enough is enough!!!!

You sound like my husband. He bought a Texas Edition Silverado and loves it. I think they're a pain in the butt to park, we have the long one. But it's great for travel, I love the satellite radio and Onstar.

Personally, I drive an ancient Taurus. 160,000 miles and it still runs, stops when I want it to, paid for, and I fill it up once a month. Can't beat that!

Today I did plenty and now I am done..LOL

Fred went to his friend`s house to watch footyball so before hand we made ribs. Pork and beef. He marinated them the night before with a rub. He cooked the bronto beef in the oven. When they were close to done, I put the pork on the grill, then later put the beef on the grill to finish them off. BBQ sauce.

I had some left over turkey in the fridge so I made turkey tetrizzini. I just ate the turkey part and did not eat the spaghetti. I have ribs waiting for Natalie and I for dinner. I am going to make a nice tomato, cuke, onion salad to go with.

Then I cut down a row of hostas and the row of catmint that hangs over the patio wall. I gave the cats a few sprigs to go nuts with..LOL

I wanted to plant my tulips but too tired now. I have to split the pork ribs and make the salad. After that I am going to take over the tv set..LOL

Still hurting some, still swollen some.

I had forgotten the console flips up to extend the seat. I never need to flip it, so I forgot. I hope the dentist can see me in the morning so I can get it over with. He'll have to yank out the temporary bridge, which will be no fun at all. His assistant had to yank hard just to get it out while she was working on it even before the adhesive stuff was on it.

I just got spam in my GL messages. Its clearly the Nigerians trying to scam me (the broken English is a dead giveaway) into cashing a check, but I'm disturbed by the fact that they got the message in here without a single posting. I'm not sure how to alert the Admin, but everyone be on the lookout for anything from "cynthia00".

Jeremy, I just alerted an Admin., who I'm sure will drop this new member like a hot potato.

Meanwhile, you can go to Cynthia00's profile and under "Options" on the left side of the frame, you can choose both to ignore any posts and also add her to your PM block list.

Got checked out by the dentist, he says everything is healing ok, but slowly, gave me some prescription rinse to help with the inflammation.

I was almost late to the dentist. I left the house earlier than usual, because the last time I was almost late. I got to within 2-3 minutes of the office, when I saw a sign informing the road ahead was closed. I had to turn around and go back and take the long way, having to wait for a traffic light and go through 2 blocks of road construction on Main St, which is called Main St for about 3 blocks. At one end it's name then changes to York St., and at the other end it changes to Portland Rd.

The main street that goes through Kennebunkport is called Maine St. :cheer:

Most towns in Maine seem to have a Mechanics St., and a Storer St., and many have a Marginal Way. We have a Cat Mousam Rd., but no one knows why.

DH took the car to the Buick garage, mentioned my having seen something about the door handles falling off being a common thing. He said the guy nodded, and that as a matter of fact another car was there getting a new handle put on, the last one they had in stock. They're getting more handles in tomorrow, and my car will be repaired.

:yay:

I am making the last of the cookies today for Fred to bring to work. I am cooking the Spicy Oatmeal Raisin right now. Smells like Fall in the house. Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and cloves. Mmmm!

Also going to plant those bulbs that I did not get to plant over the weekend. Going to get that done after last batch of cookies.

Been painting the kitchen cabinets for the Montclair. So far 4 thin coats and think it will take another two to finish up before the sealer goes on. Still have to complete the bash on the large oven cabinet so that it will match the rest.

Also got out the bread machine and baked a whole wheat loaf. Also laid in a large supply of chicken hamburger and roasts into the freezer. Will be watching for vegetables and fruits to lay in as well. Been buying extra dog food when it is on sale. Sometimes a little hard to get out for grocery runs during really bad weather.

Worried about DH. He is not well, Terrible head aches and so tired all the time. He has been doing acupuncture weekly and says it helps, also started a special cleansing period where he is supposed to drink a quart of water with ginger, cucumber, mint and lemon seeped in it. Any one ever hear of this?

I finally reconstructed a computer desk I had been putting off for 2 years. It was deconstructed while I was asleep before my move, so I had no idea how it went together. I studied it for a couple of days, then attacked it. It went together really well. Now it will be the base for my home recording studio. Got the 16 track on it already, getting the old Gateway ready to connect to the Edirol interface. New studio monitors in the house ready to be hooked up, headphones on the way, even ordered a drum machine to diddle around with. The Fostex 16 tracker gonna be the main weapon, but for file sharing and doing stuff with other people the computer's the way to go. Should be a blast.

I think I must have done something to offend the gods, and sleep deprivation is my punishment. Sunday evening I made the mistake of drinking a diet Coke, and the caffeine kept me awake until around 3 am. I barely got caught up on sleep yesterday, so tonight I was in bed before 10. At 11, the thunder started. JoJo the Wonder Chihuahua is afraid of the thunder, so someone has to sit in the room with his bed to reassure him that Thor is not coming after him. It is now after 5 am. The radar image shows yet another storm cell headed this way, ETA one hour. I have read the GL forum. I have play endless games of solitaire. I am too sleepy to do anything useful, like balancing the check books or work on genealogy or trust myself around the minis. I have read The New York Times and the New Orleans Times-Picayune on line. I have checked the Yahoo News page several times. (It's a slow news night.) I have checked the radar a bazillion times (but the storm cells keep on coming!)

I am sooooooooooooooooo tired.

And yes, I know I'm risking an electrical malfunction, but I have the computer on a universal battery saver thingy (not the multi-plug extension dealie), which will shut down the system automatically should we have a power failure. So far, the lights haven't even flickered. Lots of noise from this storm, not much lightning.

I just refreshed the radar. Next heavy rain cell due here in 52 minutes. But the thunder rolls on between the downpours. *sigh* *yawn*

Awwww, Kathie, been there/done that! I had a cat years ago who was terrified to the point of insanity of thunder. Mercifully I lived in Seattle all during her long, long life and real blasting thunder storms are not very common there - but even if it rained REALLY hard (like it does just before the thunder starts), this poor little cat would completely freak out. I'd have to hold and pet her poor little shaking self, letting her hide her head under my arm and sometime hide her entire little self inside my shirt or bathrobe, every time it bucketed rain....Here's hoping Thor goes back to bed SOON there in Missouri!

Thank goodness, my gouty hand is starting to quiet down. My thumb is merely swollen now instead of truly grotesque, and the other fingers on that hand are almost normal again, and best of all - I CAN TYPE!! It just hurt too much the last couple of days - I'm hoping maybe I can try some mini crochet later today. It's driven me crazy to have to just sit and do absolutely nothing that involves using my hands, which is pretty much everything LOL.

Believe me, I'll be watching what I eat - and WON'T eat - VERY carefully from here on out. One attack like this every couple of years is just one too, too many!

Thanks for the commiseration, Mary. I finally got to sleep just past 9 am. Usually I have been up for a couple of hours by then! I slept until 2:30, when Mother Nature woke me up with a different call. I think I'll hit the shower and stay up. If I sleep much longer this afternoon, it will be difficult to go to sleep tonight.

More isolated storms in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Miserable sinus congestion today. We are having some cool fronts come through, but at least it won't be so hot! I'm going to dismantle the farmhouse today and pack up the furnishings. It's going to my grandaughter and her mom in a couple of weeks. That will give me a little room to move around in my play room! Our new shades for the living room are here and we will hang them also. We are so close to having this house done. Picked out the exterior trim color yesterday and it looks like Curb Appeal in front now-different shades of coffee and sand painted on things so we could pick one out!

Then just the patio extension, pond, and new interior floors and this place will be done! Been a long year, but it's sure worth it, looks like a totally different house. Never again will I do all this!!

Oh sorry you are not feeling well Sherry. Get well soon!

My day started off rotten but it is better now. Someone thieved Fred`s scooter in the middle of the night. They broke the lock that keeps it in place unless you have a key, moved it down the street, broke all the locks, stole the battery (it is dead..LOL), and any parts they could get off or use and then left it. Fred went to get coffee this morning and saw it over there when he was leaving our street! I was livid! OMG! I felt so violated. But Fred`s friend said you are lucky it was not your car. We did not call police. We have a better idea. He and his friend moved it to the back patio for the winter and we will try to replace the parts if we can. Fred knows people in the scooter/reconditioning/mechanics/dealerships. He will put it out there and his buddies will figure out who did it.

This will be mechanic justice. Do right by us or no one around here will help you.

So a few cosmetic parts are missing and we will have to have all the locks repaired.

Ugh!

Otherwise I am in a better mood now. I have been slowly making friends with this person down the street. She was friends would this woman that was not so nice (who sold her house and moved) so I think that is why we never talked. It is slow. She walks her dog and we chitchat.

It is nice and she likes Halloween also!

I have windows to wash and minis to work on.

Have a good Sunday!

I have completed all the priming of the Montclair and will start the electrical as soon as it dries, probably after dinner. Had to stop my cleaning up of piles of stuff that had accumulated in the workroom to cook. Darn family has to eat. Not very cooperative!

One good thing has definitely come out of all this. I finally used my scroll saw and my little Mighty Mite 4' saw from HF again. Only simple cuts but I am cautiously working on it. All my eye trouble has made me reluctant to use any power tool. Poor DH has done all of my cutting that required it but the dust has been causing him respatory problems. I have several Dremels and I have been using the cordless one again with great success. Got the Trio as a gift but have not had an opportunity to use it yet.

I worked on a tut for Deb yesterday and I am disappointed with the results. (grumble).

I think I need to do it over again. I have never done it before and the instructions were very brief. So I had to basically fill in the holes.

It is humid here in CT today. Not hot just sticky. I was going to do some baking for a friend that is not feeling well but I am NOT feeling it. Do you know I still have one more batch of strawberries in the freezer for canning?

I think I better get moving on finishing that up..LOL I went to a church sale last saturday and I bought a jar of wild grape jelly. It was really good. I do not have access to wild grapes though.

I will take my maiden walk since my feet have been healing, clean the house, and try to tweek that mini tut so it looks good. Otherwise I may just scrap the whole idea.

Got the lower floor electrical tape run completed on the Montclair last night. Could not get the tester to show current in the tape, gave up and went to bed. This morning I was going to try several changes but thought I would try one more time this morning and I got current!!!!!!! Got the outdoor lights (4) glued on and will attach them later this afternoon as soon as I get some housework done. Should do laundry too.

I'm trying to work on the Country Cottage kit, but other things keep coming up. Yesterday we found out that my wife has breast cancer. We see the specialist on Fri. morning. I feel that it was found early & things will come out fine. I'll keep you informed as we hear anything.
