I'm posting before and after pics of the yard on my Flickr account. The goal of clearing out the entire back property is getting close to finished. The kids sure do like running around back there in the shade. I'm also excited about Friday. My sister is driving down from Kentucky tomorrow, and will spend most of Friday here visiting. My dad and my twin nieces are also coming. ...... Sounds like it will be a fun time with family. Hope you get to spend as much time as possible. Your new place sounds like just the spot to entertain family and friends. Btw, how do we get to see all those cool pics in your Flickr account? I don't want to join, so I guess I will miss out. Spent the last 2 days with my mother in the hospital. (All day in ER yesterday and all day today getting her discharged because they kept her) I want to shut off all my phones and close all the drapes tomorrow and just hide and clean all day. My house is a total wreck and smells like wet dog. I have been gone so much this summer I haven't had time to do anything. I think I was home more when I worked. LOL. It will be fine, taking care of stuff with other people is what I am here for and I am grateful to be here to do it. Still treading gently about what goes down there..... Don't know if anyone remembers the TV show Northern Exposure, back in the '90's, but it was filmed here in my town. That was long before I was here - I've been here just seven years (anniversary coming up first week in December, and the best move I've ever made). Well, Hollywood came to Roslyn again the first few days of October, this time to film a pilot for a series that, if it gets picked up, will be on Amazon Prime Video. It's based on an SF novel from quite a while ago, "The Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. d***, which is an alternate history story based on the premise that Germany and Japan won WWII. Japan runs the West Coast and Germany runs the other coast, and as you can imagine life ain't good for anyone not Japanese or blue-eyed blond....Our town was standing in for a little town in the Rockies where there was a fairly lively underground developing. Anyway, watching the prop folk convert our downtown (about two blocks square lol) into 1962 Canyon City was absolutely fascinating - they hauled in a lot of old cars/trucks/etc., and the prop folk had their goodie depot spread out over the street and sidewalk just across the street from my apt. building; they hung up perfectly aged propaganda posters, signage, etc. on building walls and so on, rented one little shop (a handmade furniture shop) and converted it into a 1962 café, there was one entire afternoon and evening where our main intersection was blocked off and they filmed various of these ancient vehicles drive up to and through the intersection (no, Roslyn doesn't have even one traffic light, just a blinker there). And of course they hired a bunch of locals as extras....It'll be interesting to see if this thing actually comes to anything, because if it does, they'll be baaaaaack...... ;) P.S.: I'm laughing my brains out right now over an edit this forum made on the author's name - it censored it because it is the short form of Richard and yeah, in some circles and usages, that IS a dirty word - OMG, I think I've hurt myself laughing!!!!!!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Decluttering as much as possible, today I am starting back at the front door and going thru the second round of decluttering. I still see a lot that I want to declutter. I now have a box, hidden ! It is going to be fun to see this one play out. The box will hold everything that belongs to my boys. If I find something around the house they have left, like their boots, it will go in the box. When they realize it's gone and want it back they will have to do a major chore to buy it back ! I have one pair of boots and a pair of tennis shoes in it now. I'm trying hard to declutter the house, it's not dirty, it's just cluttered. We went thru our games the other day and decluttered about 10 games. I'm decluttering stuff we don't use anymore and have no use for. My boys are older now and don't play with toys, so it's time for those to go. I want to make a sitting room for them in the basement, sorta a man cave for them. I have a lot of crafts still to go thru and clothes. I'm going to be much more harder on myself this time around. If I haven't used it, worn it it's gone. Same with the toys! And everything else. Im making a box of stuff for my oldest, when he moves out hell have things he needs. I really don't want him to ever move out, but I know he will and I want him to have the things he will need. I'm working on having a yard sale this weekend I hope. I have a lot to put out. I have been able to search for my gallery without signing in. It wasn't easy to find, as Flickr doesn't recognize my account name, only titles I have given some of my images, but it didn't require that I create an account. Mary, That sounds like fun! I think they filmed "Doc Hollywood" before I moved to Gainesville, but I'm very familiar with Micanopy, where they filmed most of the exterior shots. The "hospital" is actually an old house that has been converted into an antique shop, and they only used the exterior. The interior shots were possibly in a sound stage in L.A. One of the larger, more plantation looking houses doesn't exist at all- they built a 2 dimensional façade that was torn down after filming. nuttiwebgal Posted October 16, 2014 Share Posted October 16, 2014 we are getting ready for Halloween...last week we spun a web around our porch and hung some lights and a few decorations yesterday Dean spent the whole day on the porch...we need 2 more packs of webs....to be finished with decor Halloween we will bring all the props hanging inside out side and put out our Ghoul in the recycle bin....Im hoping to get my Maleficent horns to wear with my robes. going to Good will to see what we come up with...they BOTH want to be papaw' werewolf and he does have 2...but they cant wear it to our school...so costumes for school and Im teaching them how to scare as were wolves for the big night...I think we will have a ball! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The only bad thing about doing that is grating all the darn carrots, but everything else goes together so quickly. I need to clean house too, not feeling it. Nothing new there! I stayed up way too late last night reading Game of Thrones. NOT happy about the way it ended, and can't decide if I want to continue the series. Going to visit my daughter next weekend! My dad lives just a few miles away with my twin nieces, but he doesn't come by very often. My sister (the older of the two), lives in south central Kentucky, so I only get to see her every other year or so. We're the only two of the four surviving siblings who aren't addicted to illegal substances and have lived as productive members of society, so we're the only two who keep in contact with one another. It was a beautiful 72 degrees in the shade, so we grilled and ate lunch in the back yard. I also got a housewarming gift- a gas powered chainsaw. I haven't used it yet, but I will be glad to work without the tether of an electrical cord. Their visit was too short, but she had to be in Jacksonville by 6:00. My BIL indicated that he planned to come over tomorrow before the Gator game starts, so I hope to see them again. In other news, I found out I was passed over as a candidate for the job I was hoping to get. As much as I hate their political views, I'm tempted to apply at the local HL. She says there will be 5-6 children ages kindergarten to 11 years old. The kids will cook something and then serve it to their parents for lunch. Don't know what's on the menu, but it should be good fun. And it will get us out of the house for a few hours and away from the pounding, pounding, pounding of the siding crew, who are working overtime today to try to get our house finished. One of her cousins is away in a big Frisbee tournament today and another cousin is away playing in a football game. DH is on another trip. So, Wisteria and the little guy (heretofore known as "Fireboy" - by his request) and I are home finishing up packing in the garden. I have someone coming Monday morning to clean the gutters and fix a spot on my deck so I need to clear a path for them to work. So, we'll be all covered in mud from pulling out the rest of the icky garden litter and hoeing in under and then putting away tools, pots, hoses and such. kellee Posted October 18, 2014 Share Posted October 18, 2014 The local catholic church had their annual craft show this morning, I havent been for about 3 years. The boys and hubby all had plans so I decided to check it out. Got to the 5th table and my phone rang. I ended up sitting in the hospital for 3 hours. My oldest son called and asked me to come straight home, so I ran out of the craft show, headed home. I was less than a mile from home. I pulled in the drive to see my oldest walk out of the house, lock the house and walk calmly to the car..... With his hand wrapped in his t shirt. My heart hit the floor. I drove the speed limit to the hospital... Which is also about a mile from the house. He sliced his finger wide open... He don't know on what or how... Because he just felt his finger tickle and looked at his hand to find his glove covered in blood.! He was out bow hunting about 30 minutes from home. Noticed his finger was cut, told his buddy and his buddys dad, walked to the truck, and drove home. He cut his finger on the broad head. After 2 and a half hours in the hospital, they stitched him up with 6 stitches and a cast! Monday morning I have to call a specialist. He cut some tendons! So that's what we've been up to today. They made sugar & cinnamon coated "cookies" out of tortillas cut with cookie cutters, an egg casserole, brown sugar coated bacon, hash brown potato & cheese "nests", fresh fruit skewers, and pancakes, all in 2-1/2 hours. They arrived at 9 and at 11:30 promptly, they carried their brunch plates in to their guests. The youngest, who talked nonstop, apparently ran out of gas mid way. She pulled three chairs side by side, stretched out across them, and fell asleep for under two minutes. Popped up renewed and rejoined the team. Natasha and I baked this afternoon, made 2/3 of salted caramel millionaires shortbread (they're in the fridge waiting for us to do the chocolate layer tomorrow) and chocolate or chocolate and cherry cupcakes. She even ate the cherry ones, which we served with whipped cream for pudding after supper. Invited to in laws for lunch tomorrow, so we'll take the rest along for then. I was paranoid about going, so I kept my injuries and illnesses to myself when I was growing up. My parents still don't know about the worst ones. hopefully your son will have a quick recovery. I was hoping my sister and BIL would come over today, but their friends wanted to spend the day walking around the UF campus and tailgate until the game started (about 90 minutes ago). Apparently they're online students and this was a rare, if not their first visit to the main campus. I did try out the chainsaw my BIL bought us. It's a bit louder than the electric and the vibration makes my hands numb after only a few minutes, but it cuts trees with ease and I'm not limited by the reach of an electrical cord. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My son hates shots and gets really upset just going to his pediatrician, so I was shocked when he calmly got in the car and told me to drive to the ER. He's in some pain now, he says it's not really pain, it's pressure and feels weird and bothers him. I just hope he gets some sleep tonight. The ER gave him an antibiotic but nothing for pain. I was more worried about humiliating and uncomfortable procedures. Even worse, not having any say in the matter. The day I turned 18, that all changed. I had the right to refuse tests and treatments, and I exercised that right frequently. I still try to keep trips to the doctor and E.R. to a minimum, but I'm more worried about costs, these days.
