What are you up to today? This week?

I started work on the rso FF's chimney, as I'm going to have to dry-fit the roof to work out major bashing to the third floor to access the tower room on that floor.

All telephone conversations distract the driver from paying attention to the road and IMO should be illegal. There is nothing wrong with pulling off the road to receive or make a phone call.

It is illegal to use a cell phone in NY unles it is hands free but they still do it. As for texting, I hope when they are caught doing it, the book gets thrown at them. I have had two close calls this week alone.

L was supposed to take an antibiotic an hour before his oral surgery, which took place at 9 am this morning in Blue Springs, an hour and a quarter's drive from here. He had the prescription since Monday. Did he get it filled? No. He remembered it at 11:30 pm lst night. We do not live in the land of 24-hour anything.

Luckily there is a 24-hour Walgreen's pharmacy near the dentist's office. Of course this meant we had to leave here by 6 am to allow time for the pharmacist to wake up and give him the pill in time.

He told the oral surgeon that he has oxycontin for pain. I didn't think so, but he insisted, so the doctor did not give him a prescription for pain meds. When he checked his med locker here, turns out all he has is oxycodone (Percocet), which he can't take because it makes him really loopy. He just took 2 extra-strength acetominophin, the strongest med he could find. I am debating whether to call the surgeon and ask him to phone a scrip to the local pharmacy. I am soooo tempted not to.

When we were in the VA commissary yesterday afternoon I spotted a book entitled How to have a new husband by Friday. I swear, I'm going to buy it the next time we go there. I don't know if it offers ways to fix the one you have or get a new one; I'm up for either option about now.

Can you send some my way too Kathie?? I went to pick up our dinner last night and in the dark parking lot tripped over a random brick and banged my elbow on the stone wall. It hurts! Can't lift much with that arm today... but hopefully will be much better by tomorrow so I can mini some more. The wrist on my other hand also got hurt a bit, but seems to be getting better already. And of course my dignity was hurt as I nearly landed in a heap on the ground.

Of to work this morning - in fact I better hurry up or I'll be later than I want! Then this afternoon we're speaking to our (hopefully) wedding photographer, see if we can come to some arrangement that suits all

Oooh, Muriel, hope the effects of the fall aren't lasting.

Why am I writing this at 4:45 am? Because we just got back from the emergency room and Walmart. A couple of L's sockets were still bleeding and he was beginning to panic. Nice doctor had him hold ice water in his mouth. Seems to be doing the trick. Stopped at Walmart for a fresh bag of ice, some popsicles and pineapple sherbet, all recommended cures. Also some benedryl cream for some kind of large hive that appeared on one arm. Have no idea what that's all about. I offered to cauterize it with my soldering gun, but he declined.

He's beginning to look at me sideways.

 Hey, it sounded like a rational and logical offer!

Couldn't sleep so I got up to do some bills on this (cold) morning in the Washington DC area. Probably should try to sleep soon since at 9 am, BF and I will need to drive up to Frederick MD. We volunteered as fosters for a small animals rescue organization (specializes in rescuing and adopting hamsters, mice, rats -- small and furry, we deal with it). Fostered three adorable and sweet baby girl rats and after three weeks of caring for them, someone submitted an application to adopt them.

BF and I are happy, but last night we went to bed teary-eyed because we love the girls. But hopefully the new parents will adore the babies as much as we did. Plus, after the fosters are handed over to the new parents, the rescue org has four other baby girls lined up to come home with us to foster. So am happy knowing I'll have company when I work on my dollhouses (love hearing the pet rats play on their wheel, or hearing the crunching noises when they're eating their food or treats, or just chirping happily when they're snuggling in their hammocks).

I'm glad someone likes rats & mice well enough to keep them as pets, I feed ours peanutbutter. Kathie, I have a B&D heatgun that will do a lovely job of cauterizing L's hives. Actually your soldering iron could have taken care of the bleeding sockets, too. Hope he is finally feeling better!

I began bricking the Fairfield's chimney from the attic floor up. I finished the Fo-dog and working on the background around it until I get to the other medallion. This one seems to be going a tad faster than the dragon... Also making a ripple afghan that's going slow. I PM'd Diana M that her afghans are done, but no reply, so if she doesn't want them I'll add them to Monica's batch and then I'll only have one more to work on. (HINT! Diana...)

LOL ..He is giving you the side eye..That gave me a good laugh this morning.

Chelsea cleaned the entire kitchen last night!! I mean everything. Top to bottom. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. I did the little bit of christmas shopping with Fred yesterday morning. We were out for about an hour. I was not walking and standing for the whole hour but I was doing good.

After an early dinner that I hoovered thru..i went to watch the news..I fell asleep and woke up 4 hours later!

I guess the shopping tired me out.

I feel better this morning. Waiting for Fred to bring me a coffee..(ran out of beans here)

Chelsea wants to go grocery shopping today. She needs to get up cause I am not waiting till it gets too late. I HATE food shopping on the weekends. HATE IT!

Maybe I will just tell Fred to take her and he can pay with the debit card. He is more miserly with the grocery money then I am..hehehe

We just made our weekly Walmart run, for Christmas lites. One strand on the reindeer went out. We came home with donuts and new shoes for both grandkids. She wanted hot pink boots. Oh well, for no more than they cost, she can wear them to play in the snow if we get any!

Got beef stew cooking for dinner, the cat's hiding under the sofa, and the washer and dryer are both running. So are both of the grandkids! Typical day, huh?

Trying to finish Amos's cottage. I saved the troublesome bits for the end, hoping they'll work out ok. I bought some hair for Star, now to see if I can get it on her head without it coming out stupid looking. I covered some foam with fabric for her bed, need a pillow. Measured the windows for curtains for the 3rd time, I keep losing the slip of paper. Managed to get spray adhesive all over my hands cause the sprayhead jammed up and wouldn't turn off. I think it's too cold in the studio for the can? BTW, the spray adhesive didn't seem to work too well on the foam & fabric, I may have to add a few stitches. I've also decided the bay window needs a cushion. It was between a potted plant and a cushion, and though the potted plant would be easier, I think the cushion would be better. If, when I'm done, you see a potted plant, it's because I mucked up the cushion.

I always start to get tired of a project when I'm close to the end, besides, the owner of a local bookshop was asking about a roombox depicting the shop. I've got a rough sketch, have to figure out a price. I really hate that part, it can be hard to figure in advance how much work I'll have to put into it.

Yay! We have a photographer for our wedding! We went and spoke to the lady that teaches photography at the school where Chris works and worked out a fabulous arrangement. Saw her pictures and am confident that we'll have lovely pictures after the day. And included in the price is a Studio shot too, so we get to get dressed up for that in April sometime too! What fun! This is the most exciting thing of the wedding so far :p (Though I have picked out my ring too, just waiting for Chris' bonus to come in so we can order it... but can't order it too soon or it'll be so difficult to wait the 5 months until the wedding!)

We got on really well with the lady (have quite a bit in common) and hopefully have made a new friend.

Wrist is all better, elbow still hurts, but not getting any worse. Tomorrow is sitting room tidy and then christmas present making time!

Grazhina, I am the same. I get to about 8 hours work away from the end of a (big) project and then can't be bothered to finish it. I have decided tomorrow after the christmas present making I'll try and finish the inside of the Willow. Then just got the outside to do.

You got a lot done today, Muriel! That's good, the wedding day will be here before you know it.

I got nothing done today. We put new lights on the reindeer and DH put them in the yard and hung the wreath. I've been cooking, doing laundry, and babysitting. I don't know when I'm going to get to start shingling my Storybook!

It is snowing a bit as we speak here in Southeastern CT. Not much but it counts as a first snow for us. Natalie is at her friend`s house for a sleepover, Chelsea is cooking, and Fred is at work.

I have been spending the better part of the day watching a Harry Potter marathon.

My friend received the cutest faux tree this year to decorate. She does not usually do a tree but our mutual friend bought her a Charlie Brown Tree. It is fake but looks like a sad branch that you can decorate.

It is so cute that I think I want one for the diningroom table! LOL

When my son was in second grade they did nuitrition studies and had 2 white rats in the classroom and fed the one rat good food and the other rat got the junk food. The rats had to be taken home over the weekend and Brian was picked to care for it one weekend. Templeton was a friednly little guy. One day after the study was over Brian came home, raced into the house and very breathlessly and excited told me this story and ended it with saying "Can I?? Can I???" I was busy concentrating on some project and it dawned on me about an hour later what I had agreed to. I went to tallk to him about it and he said"You said I could keep Templeton forever and you can't say no now" So we now had a pet rat. He was a good pet until he chewed out of his cage one night and crawled over my face and sent me into hysterics. After that he lived in an auqarium! He lived to an old age of 4 and when he got ill the vet had to weigh him on the postage meter to calculate his medication. but Tepleton didn't live too long after that and was buried under the pine tree in the back yard. Fond memories of a very nice pet (except for that night escapade!).

BF and I are happy, but last night we went to bed teary-eyed because we love the girls. But hopefully the new parents will adore the babies as much as we did. Wish me luck, all, and any kind thoughts sent my way will surely be appreciated. Most likely I'm going to be utterly miserable the next few days, but I've taken heart from folks here who have managed to lick the biggest bugaboo of my life - they've quit smoking. I've especially taken heart from Heidi, who did it under really, really trying circumstances - I've got all my ducks in a row and it's waaaaaay past time I did this.

So, smoking my last roll-my-owns tonight (it's not yet 11 p.m. where I am), have already dumped all my fixin's and my hand roller, the tobacco's gone and the rollin' papers. Didn't shed a single tear when I threw all that crap in the trash bag with some other truly nasty garbage (don't want any temptation to go dig it out LOL - you smokers know exactly what I'm talking about!) and escorted it out to the dumpster, which will be truly foul tomorrow, since pick-up is Monday.

Heidi, you've hung in there, and made me proud, and I'm taking several pages out of your book!! No chewing gum, but I've got a large stockpile of Starbursts and Werther's hard candies, not to mention a lot of baby carrots and celery.

I'm predicting I'll go into an absolute frenzy of housecleaning and laundry washing - it's going to smell SO good in here a few days from now!!

Saying a prayer for all of you who are ill, and sending hugs and healing thoughts your way.

I've been cleaning out my mini stash boxes in the basement, making room for rehabbing the Allison, and to build the Taft, after that. Done some cleaning and tidying in the RL house, 'cause the tree needs to fit somewhere.

Today, plan to find all the book stores and buy some language courses and dictionaries for my son. He has decided he wants to learn a bunch of languages. He's pretty good in French, and German, so far, and wants Russian, Italian, and some others are on his Christmas wish list, forget which ones. I'm not sure why, the sudden interest, but he usually learns what he says he wants to, so I will oblige. No doubt it will come in handy for him at some poit in time. Last year, it was the guitar and violin, that struck his fancy, and he plays both good enough to be lead in his school band.

I've also been helping out our elderly neighbors clean and decorate their home.We sort of adopted each other.

If he has a gift for languages, then more power to him. Whatever else he does in his life, the fact that he is agile in other folks' tongues will help him and open possibilities for him. Music and languages are two of the greatest gifts for communication that anyone can have, and he sounds like he has both!

DS#1 discovered a facility for languages when he was in the USMC that served him well in his various overseas assignments.

The sun finally came out yesterday afternoon, in time to watch Alabama beat my 'Gators for the SEC championship. What an exciting game!

Little Star is no longer bald. I woke up at 4 AM and couldn't fall back asleep. I wonder if I can see well enough to make a pillow next. My eyes are really tired, but my brain keeps darting around.

Mary,

You can do it. You just have to really fight it for 3-4 days. After that it is still hard but manageable. I was the one that could not quit smoking on Chantix..so you know I was a tough nut to crack.

I had to have it the way it was.

Housebound.

No money to my name.

and a Strong willed partner.

Most people would have taken pity on me because I was in pain, still groggy, and crying. Nope..not him. He knew this is what I wanted to do no matter the words coming out of my mouth.

You can do it!!

We only got a dusting here Graz but now it is in the upper 30s. It was so warm last week and now this. It was actually cold when I came downstairs this morning!

Brrrr.
