Guest Nathaniel
This is a Voluntary Survey: What does everyone do for a living??? You dont have to be super specific, but Im just curious... I am a Human Resources Assistant - Temporary, at a huge corporation in Mansfield, MA. Hoping they make me permanent soon or I find something else permanent. Ive been there a year as a temp. Before that I was a Customer Service Manager at Wal-Mart for 7 years. Im curious what everyone does. I wish I could just flip and sell d.houses for a living, but, like an artist, Im sure it would be an unpredictable and meager survival at times. Respond if you want to... Just curious! Are you a house wife or a home maker or an escort or a contract killer, etc, etc? THanks! -Nathaniel

uppitycats
I vote "contract killer". Actually -- I'm a cat with maybe more than 9 lives.... In my first life I was a school teacher. Then I became a store clerk. Then I became a librarian. Then a school secretary. Then a school teacher again. Then an office manager. Then a recruiter for people willing to be involved with people with disabilities. Then I quit working for pay and became a "professional volunteer -- League of Women Voters, Chair of the Board of Ethics in a major city, church president"...with a bit of disabilities consulting on the side. Now -- at 61, disabled, use a wheelchair full time -- I still do some disabilties consulting for free, but mainly I build dollhouses, keep my 4 cats fed and entertained, and occasionally do the same for my husband of 40 years. fantail
We have a family owned/run menswear shop with embroidery/hot press shop in the back. We do alot of shirts, caps for schools, clubs, businesses, etc. Work with my brother and my dad. My brother usually does the embroidery, and I digitize the designs at home on the computor ( I do have to go back and forth alot to help with this or that.) I love what I do, but it sucks being small biz owners. Haven't had a "real" paycheck in some time. We also have dogs and grandkids at the shop, so we are a retail, sweat shop, kennel and day care center!! annie

heidiiiii
Hey...I wanted to say I was the contract killer! No fairs.... I am a SAHM of two teenage girls. I have been on social security disability for about 6 yrs. Before all that mess came about I was a very active person. OMG the jobs I have had. Grown up jobs were a Rural Route fill-in for the postal service. I drove the sardine can on wheels and delivered the mail. Then for five years I was a directory assistance operator for a telephone company (SNET turned into SBC turned into ATT). I have bussed tables, worked the carnival games at the beach, served ice cream, worked in the vault of a bank rolling coins, retail, luggage store, and a host of other jobs that didnt last long enough for me to even remember. New Day
For the past 3 years I've been a full time SAHM/wife. Before that, I was a nanny for 8 years for the same family, then went to part time work. I was a receptionist, worked at a church nursery, and worked retail. Whatever fit our schedule so that one of us could always be home with the kids. First job was long distance telephone operator for General Telephone. That was my favorite job on the old eight cord pair boards. I used to get the coin phones from LA Int. Airport and got lots of interesting calls. I was only 18 then. It was lots of fun.
Deb
I vote "contract killer". <cackle> If you are, we need to talk about my wish list. hehehhehehehehee Hey...I wanted to say I was the contract killer! Oh cool!! That means I can get estimates for the best deal! <cackle, snort> I'm not a contract killer, but around Halloween, I do take special orders on turning princes back into frogs. I'm like Ann and have had several lives. In the first one, I was a kindergarten/preschool teacher. I ran a private school for 18 years and specialized in abused or neglected kids and kids with special needs. With an enrollment of around 125, it was a very busy life. I had to give up the school because, well, when you have a psycho stalking you with a gun, it's just not good to be around kids. In the next life, I became a techy and was the technical training manager for Apple's tech support company, then switched over to management in the same company. I was something of a work-a-holic, so after I got sick and we moved to Denver, I gave up trying to do it all and just did tech support for a broadband ISP. Then I got into minis and quit my job. Now I've got Deb's Minis and do a little part time tech support work from home. (I can dial into the VPN and do that in my jammies) Oh, I almost forgot. When I was paying for my divorce lawyer, I moonlighted as a CNA in a nursing home. It was worth every penny of it too! Not only was the divorce a grand and glorious thing, but my divorce lawyer was *such* a hottie! Deb
