Hallowell
Are there any Sonia Messer collectors here and what are your thoughts on the quality of these pieces? Any information will be helpful. Thanx. :thumb:
Rhonda from the Bluegrass
I don't collect them because I can't afford them, but I think they are GORGEOUS!!! I often bookmark one, hoping I can buy it and then I never can . . . But, one day . . .
rodentraiser
I have a small cedar chest that I got just about 30 years ago and I love it. The quality is very good on this piece, at least.
bookmarm
I have a few pieces that were part of a collection of old furniture I bought from someone selling off her mom's stuff. There's an upholstered bedstep I really love.
Corwin
If I can find a Bombay chest, for less than 150.00 I would get it, it's one of the pieces I really want. . . . .
Hallowell
I got a Sonia Messer grandfather clock on Ebay yesterday for $10.00. I hope that it's a true Sonia Messer. :thumb:
Rosie Rabbit
I'm not exactly a collector but I have a bunch of it from childhood. (I'll post photos one of these days.) I think the quality is very good, esp. the wood. (It's not just stained, it's genuine whatever-kind-of-wood.) It's not as delicate/detailed as Bespaq, though. I also have a catalog from the 70s with Sonia Messer, Chrysnbon, etc and the original (wholesale? retail?) prices.
Rosie Rabbit
I finally posted pix of my Sonia Messer furniture in my gallery, with the corresponding pages of an pld minis catalog from the 70s. The catalog came from a couple who sold minis out of their home and would order the items we wanted.
Hallowell
Thanx Candace, by coincidence I just posted a picture of a Sonia Messer Granfather Clock I received in the mail today in my gallery.

judithfa
I have a small number of Sonia Messer pieces and I love them. I have also found that you want to be careful when you buy them -- the prices can be reasonable or entirely out of hand -- eBay sellers are a good example of this. I have a lovely set in the bedroom at 2004 Oddjob Lane on http://community.webshots.com/user/irismarch and odd pieces here and there in some of my other houses. chesterfieldzoo
There are so many gorgeous furniture collections, I can't keep up. Before I came here, I thought Hobby Lobby was quality stuff.
bookmarm
I added a closer pic or two of my SM items in my Glencroft album. Judith, your houses are lovely!!
Hallowell
Thanx Gayle, and your Glencroft is beautiful. I LOVE the barometer.
bookmarm
Thanks Greg! The barometer is one of my favorites! It came in the box of stuff I bought from a lady selling her late mom's collection. Everything was wonderful quality but poorly taken care of for several decades.

Rosie Rabbit
Gayle, I could live in your Glencroft! It's beautiful. I see you have the same kitchen set I have for my (unbuilt) bungalow, too.
