10 posts in this topic

Hi everyone

I really need help understanding where the eaves are to be install.

The Orchid kit has 5 set of these eaves boards. Four dormer, two rear, two gable, and two front.

But where exactly these little pieces of wood are to be install, I do not understad the function of these pieces.

Can somone help me?

Thanks,

Gina

Hi Gina, I had the same problem-- was stumped for a while over this one!

Finally came up with what I think is the solution:

Hopefully you can see what I did here... The eaves provide a visual backdrop for the bottom rows of shingles (though the shingles are not attached to them)...

Thanks a million!

I'm building this house for my mother who is 83 years old.

She has Alhzaimer's and I would like to finish it quickly so she can enjoy it.

Thanks again,

Gina

They hang down off the edge of the roof. They are great if you ever want to install gutters also.

It's beautiful!

I love the green and light wood table/chairs in the kitchen, they remind me of RL furniture my mom had in her kitchen.

Great job, and congratulations!!

Cassidy, I hope you will post an introduction in the Newcomers' Forum.  I have built the Orchid in both wood and plastic.  Here are pictures showing the "eaves" on the front gable and dormers:

They help to hold the roof in shape.
