I have the sewing machine and the iron (modern), but no way to find the board. I would appreciate your help. Jeffrey
http://imagehost.vendio.com/bin/imageserve...yon/jan4th4.JPG thats from ebay and its Lundby brand so its a bit smaller than 1" scale but just thought it was worth mentioning. it might work if your space is small. or theres this one http://www.dollhouseminiatures.net/product...roducts_id=1183 heres one from miniatures.com http://www.miniatures.com/hbs/global/Index...RODUCTSKU=62526 it would probably be really easy to make one your self just by looking at the pictues above
Debra from Olde Cape Cod
Just got a whole box of fireplace matches for $1 and they are just about the right size to build something like this. Cheap lumber--a little rough, but sands up good.
Roxxie
Funny you brought up the ironing board topic. I have been trying to figure how to make one from a large popsicle stick I have. I have the top covered in muslin but I can't figure out how to make the legs. Any ideas? They should be in an X but no idea how to do it. Later....wood matches! Good Idea! No ideas on how to make the stand part of the ironing board?
havanaholly
A modern ironing board? I'd make the table top from plastic canvas and glue a piece of craft foam to the top side before covering it with fabric, and probably use coathanger wire for the legs. I've seen kits to make the old, wooden versions.
mesp2k
...maybe thin skewers for legs? Pin 2 together - super glue cut off end of pin. Cut tops at 45 degrees & glue to your craft stick. Glue 2 short pieces for bottom cross feet. If yu want a working ironing brd I'll have to think about that one?
Sherry
Mikes idea sounds good. My idea of a modern ironing board is the dry cleaner's and laundry 2 day service.
Shy Spirit
A wooden ironing board is not modern nowadays. (Although I admit that my ironing board is wooden, but it's pretty ancient!) Holly's suggestions are good - or you could paint skewers a grey metallic colour for the legs. Come to think of it, nowadays, people often use the smaller ironing boards that sit on a table-top, no legs or stand of their own. I do have one of these, but rarely use it. It's shaped like the traditional ironing board top, and padded - but definitely smaller. About half the length of an ordinary board, and a little narrower, too. My SIL only uses one of these. She does her ironing with the board on her lap while she watches TV!
havanaholly
You could use sections of paperclips & beads for the feet of a tabletop ironingboard.
