woodland_miniatures
Sometimes I think countries that line people up in front of firing squads have the right idea - say, line up those insurance execs and that so-called doctor who would walk away from a desperately sick patient. What is WRONG with that doctor? He seems to have totally forgotten that little oath he took.... I am so sorry, Roxxie, and will pray twice as hard. havanaholly
Between this situation and what Deb has been through I'm so sick of what corporate greed is doing to the rest of us! Roxy, I'm just sick to hear what Stan is going through! This is when someone gets in touch with the local medical board and raises a big fuss! woodland_miniatures
I'm on Medicare with no supplement (am only 54 and can't afford any worth having), live in a rural area and for 18 months went without a doctor at all - no one would take new patients - and eight of those months I went without my heart/blood pressure meds. Finally, through a desperate act I won't detail here, I got a doctor, in Yakima which is over an hour away for a person with a vehicle. I don't drive (eyesight's too bad), so my option is our local van service, which goes there once a week. Picks me up at 6:45 a.m. and gets me home after 6 p.m. - no choices on pick-up/delivery times. I may make it to my doctor by 9:30 a.m. with luck and after driving all over kingdom come, wait in the waiting room for over an hour, see the doc a grand total of 10 minutes, and then have to figure out something to do the rest of the day before getting the van again and again driving all over kingdom come on the way home....Needless to say, I don't go often and have been researching herbal/alternative means to control blood pressure, etc. What else is a person to do??? The system is so broken I can't see any way for it to be fixed!!!
woodland_miniatures
Truly I did not mean to "kill" this topic! I apologize for dumping my problems in a place where Roxxie and her friend were supposed to be the focus. If a moderator or someone is able to, they have my permission to remove that inappropriate post, as well as this one! My most heart-felt prayers for Roxxie and her friend!! Roxxie
Its ok Mary. This is a topic that is so open and raw for so many people. I don't know what to do for him. He is so sick and seems to be getting worse again instead of better. The system has really failed him and he deserves much better. He worked hard his whole life and because of being disabled he is tossed to the curb because he can't pay the high priced specialists rate. Its so wrong! Thanks everyone for your prayers. I really do appreciate your thoughts and your comments. It helps me to cope knowing that you all care. Hugs from me to you whatever you are going through. Roxxie
Just an update on Stan. It has been two months now and the drugs they have him on are making him very very sick. I feel helpless for him as there has been little to no progress. Thanks for listening. A note to all who posted in here who are ill or have loved ones who are sick, my thoughts and prayers go out to each of you everyday even when I don't post. patricia b
Just seen this posting...I'm so dismayed by your situation I hardly know what to think. It's all about money and power these days, isn't it? Please know I am sending you and Stan strength, courage, and above all, healing in these dreadful times. I wish I could do more.
Roxxie
Thanks everyone. Yes its all about money and when you have very little I guess you aren't worth the trouble. Sorry but I am feeling very discouraged by the medical community at the moment. Your support is welcome.
