I need some thoughts sent out.

We went to the ER at 330pm because he was sick. Chest pains, dry heaves, etc etc. His gastro dr told him over the phone to go to ER to get checked out. They said he did not have a heart attack. But he has elevated muscle enzymes (???). Morphine, nitro glycerine did not make the chest pain go away. EKG was fine. They want to do a stress test tomorrow so he is over night tonite. I will probably not sleep one wink.

They want to keep him also because what if he had a heart attack and it is the holiday weekend....they want to nip it in the bud. They are going to check his heart, gut, liver, and pancreas.

So send him some positive energy, thoughts, prayers, what have you.

He is my best friend in the whole world, my confidant, and the person I will be with for the rest of our lives. I want it to last alot longer then the 24 years so far.

Thanks ahead of time!

Sending prayers and hugs to you and Fred. Hopefully all will be explained after the tests are done or before he has to go through alot of them. Try to get some rest. Tomorrow will be stressful enough. Hugs and prayers, Teresa

Heidi, prayers for Fred and for you winging your way. He's in the best place he can be under the circumstances and with friends and co-workers who will be doing everything that needs to be done.

Try not to be anxious. Trust me, calm faith in a positive outcome is the best support you can give him. I know you're thinking, "easy for her to say," but I've walked the walk, have spent days in hospitals with dear ones with heart problems.

Hugs, dear heart ... you'll both come through this.

Thank you.

This morning he called to say that he was in line waiting to have a nuclear stress test done. Then he has to have the regular stress test done. I did a bit of reading about elevated muscle enzymes..he has never taken Lipitor or any cholesterol meds so that is not the cause. I do not like the other alternatives. Where he is rubbing his *chest* is actually where his liver is located.

They are going to test him up the wazoo though. He and I feel the same way about this...whatever the outcome or result..he needs an answer. We both know how it feels (from when I was sick) to have a Dr tell you. "I am sorry but we do not know what is wrong with you."

I have not mentioned it at all on FB even though majority of my RL friends are his friends also. It is because of his family. I asked him if he wanted me to tell his Mother. He said no. If he ends up staying tonite, I will tell his mother and his godmother anyway. They have a right to know. I will give him today to not tell. LOL

It was funny...He has worked in that hospital for 20 yrs. He is a very personable kind of guy. He knows a ton of people. And when I say *knows*..I mean we were in the ER and a couple people he knew, saw him in there. Before you knew it, the internal network was buzzing and people kept showing up to see Fred. He is loved.

So I have one cup of coffee in and I have called his department to tell them he is not coming in to work. Fred will call me after testing to tell me when visiting hours are..and/or if he is coming home.

Keep those thoughts people..I really appreciated it. I think you all helped me sleep last night.

Kathie,

I totally get what you are saying and that is how I have always been when it comes to things like this. I feel positive energy brings a positive result. Now I am not a Pollyanna thinking that is going to be because I said so..LOL

I think it is because I lost my father when I was so young.

Do not worry about me (right now). I am fine. I am drinking my coffee, took out the trash, and going to put the ribs in the crockpot. Oh yeah..those ribs I bought are going to his friends house. We are not eating that anymore.

His poor friend Alfredo..he took Fred out to Mohegan Sun Casino for their monthly guy thing. They had THE best brick oven pizza and that is what made him really feel like crap. He has been feeling yucky for DAYS (i hit him for that) but something about being out and about made it worse.

Thank you Kathie. I will keep you all up to date.

Oh crap Holly..Now I know what the elevated muscle enzymes (cpk) mean! And he is not an athlete so it is not any of his muscle muscles.

Still calm...they have him in there before anything happened.

I am NOT going to do it but I have to state for the record..that I really want a cigarette right now!

Heidi, are they testing for gallstones? A sonagram is the simplest and most reliable test. Some gallstone reactions will cause elevated enzyme levels.

Kathie, you read my mind! Heidi, ASA I read about Fred and the pizza, and your description of his rubbing the area of his liver, gallstones were also my first thought! The post-cholecysectomy diet isn't as much fun, but he'll be a lot more comfortable; and gallstone pain can be just as scary for the sufferer AND the family as a heart attack. I hope he doesn't have to have a chemical stress test; THAT sucks! (been there, done that)

Kathie, Holly, you took the words right out of my mouth! I, too, thought "gallstones" because of the pizza and where it hurt.....

Heidi, you hang in there, girl. It's just gotta make a difference to Fred - and to you! - that he has so many people at the hospital who care about him. I'll bet he's getting the red carpet treatment, and he deserves it.

I'm with Kathie and Holly and Mary. Bruce has had three heart attacks and one emergency gall bladder surgery and believe me Girl, the two are VERY similar! We were certain he was having #4 when his gallbladder went bad and when he was in the hospital the first time with it, they put him thru the nuclear stress test and all the other cardiac stuff. All came back normal so they let him go home and less than 24 hours later he was back in the same hospital with the ER doctors scrambling for an operating room to get the gall bladder out. So tell Fred to pull whatever strings he needs to pull to have them do the ultrasounds on his gallbladder and look for any of those nasty little troublemaking stones hanging out in there.

And as for *you* dear friend, you're doing an excellent job of dealing with this but you're doing it in true "Heidi" style.....not panicking and sensibly waiting to get the results without freaking out. (well, as much as any wife can possibly do, but you know what I mean) I'm especially proud of you for not smoking even tho I know how much you would like to. I know what Fred means to you and how tough this is but you're doing a great job of dealing with it.

Hang tight sweetie. Take deep breaths and wait for the test results. Nothing will come along that you can't handle and I'm pretty certain that they're going to tell you that it's his gall bladder. That's a walk in the park to have removed and easy to live without.

<big hugs> All will be well.

Deb

Oh Heidi,

Just saw this. Prayers and positive thoughts out to the WAZOO on the way!!!! If it is gallstones I know how painful and scary it can be. Been there and done that. Hang in there and please keep us all informed.

Have not heard from the Dr yet.

He is still in pain and he is on morphine patches.

They did nuclear stress test, regular stress test (1st), and nuclear scan. Echocardio, and blood work. I will tell you all what I find out when we find out. I do not have much mind to chat or type now.

Thank you all!

Okay,

I got some stuff done that I had to do so I can think now.

The gastro dr (who has been seeing him for awhile) does not think it is the gall bladder BUT that does not mean they are not checking it. The pain has been going on for days (probably more then a week). He has been having the dry heaves the past days.

It was not the pizza that made him sick. They saw a kid vomit in front of them at the casino...when they got outside...he just started dry heaving. I am not making excuses for the pizza but he told me he only ate one piece. He said he was feeling kind of off before they went.

I am being strong but as the hours tick by with no call..I am getting kind of upset a little bit. But I will not let it show. I have to go back now and sit and keep him company plus wait to hear what the Dr says.

I will definitely post when I get home.

He is home now.. Yippee!!

Heart is fine in every way shape or form. The tests on the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas all came back clear. They are all fine. They think it is gastrointestinal. He has to double up his Nexium for a week and get an appointment to follow up with the gastro dr.

Thank you all!!
