what2craftnow
I have to say I am just blown away at how awesome the Fling kit and additions are this year. Truly amazing! Yep, Dean & Co. certainly went ALL out this year to make it super-fantabulous for all. I ordered the kit and a couple of add-ons, just in case I get a creative streak. Sadly, mini's and my creativity have been non-existant last several months, but I am hoping this kit might kick me in the proverbial b*tt when it arrives I truly don't need to start yet another kit seeing as I have several unfinished ones collecting dust, but we'll see. To all who are joining in - have a blast with it! This one ought to rock the house down with all the possibilities.
havanaholly
I watched Alfred Hitchcock's "Jamaica Inn" a little over a week ago and the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw the kit was what fun it would be to try to reproduce it! Since I have neither time nor room to build it for a long time, anyone is free to use the idea.

morgansmith
Last year I got a notice from Greenleaf saying mine had shipped. I placed my order first thing Monday and haven't received a notice or my kit. Anyone know what the deal is this year? My original idea hasn't changed but it sure has grown. Every day this contest gets more perfecter and more perfecter Morgan
NotKateHepburn
I ordered on the 22nd and I also do not have shipping notice or a house. I figure they got awful busy so shipping might be a tad slow. I have a couple of ideas but will have to wait to actually have the house in hand before one really sticks.
Selkie
I'm blown away thinking of everyone watching their tracking and I haven't even ordered yet. I think - key word - think - that I know what I'm going to order, finally. My head is way too full of ideas/possibilities for this contest and that is complicating deciding exactly what to order. But then when I consider the great price and free shipping and what I might want for future builds - the possible uses of the components - I've gone completely mad !!! Help !!!!! I need to order something soon.
Bea Killion
I ordered mine on Monday, but it still says it hasn't shipped yet.
jujurodgers
I guess I was wishfully thinking, cause on my order it says ordered and unshipped and then has the date, the 21st...i was just telling myself, i guess, that it meant as of the 21st it hadnt shipped, but in reality it had shipped? LOL sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and it says mine will ship ups...so from what I gather GL tells you when it has shipped? email?
morgansmith
The waiting...............and waiting......................the way I see it, it's more time to plan! More time until the kit is actually in front of us. Just talking about me here, but once that thing is sitting in front of me I'm only going to have eyes for the building. I'm not having the challenge of too many ideas of what to do, I know exactly what I want. It won't all fit!!!!!! The list before me has things crossed off, added, uncrossed, notes next to the item, prices, time to make, and more. I am checking every supplier I know of for the little oddments that I can't live without and keeping my fingers crossed there's some great eBay auctions. So.....how is everyone else making great use of this time? Morgan
rbytsdy
So.....how is everyone else making great use of this time? By changing my mind on what the build will be. But this time it's a really fun idea so I'm going to stick with it.
Bea Killion
I emailed GL, but they didn't email me back, since Thursday.
jujurodgers
I looked at their shipping info and it said that if it was ordered monday before noon i could expect mine to show up on this coming monday? gives you a map of the country and expected times of arrival
CatColorado
I ordered Monday afternoon, and it arrived today. I didn't buy a base kit though, just some of the add ons to play with. Obviously I'm not "flinging" but the dormers tugged irresistably at my imagination, as did the trim.
Selkie
Well, I finally placed my order for SF11. I got an assortment of items, some for this project, some finishing items, and some components to save for future builds - unless of course the SF11 morphs, yet again, into something else. Yikes, it always adds up way quicker than I expect !! At least this time I had DH blessing ahead of time. One question though, did anyone else have difficulty getting the purchase list to indication you were purchasing both addition #1 and addition #2? No matter how I entered it, it always added one item to whichever one I had entered first. I did send an email to customer service right away so I'm hoping that it will sort itself out at the shipping site. So, now I can join the rest of you in the waiting game. Hopefully I won't change ideas too many more times.
tsdream6
Well it seems everyone here is very excited about this years Spring Fling. I havent started my first dollhouse as of yet. But I think I might take a chance at this one. I do have a few questions, I read alot of replys but still couldn't find the answer. Some where saying that there were faked doors can we change doors and windows. Where can I find the spec of what we can do and cant do. Also I was thinking that since I wanted to build more rooms onto my was to be first dollhouse. maybe I could use this as the addition to it. Im just wandering how can I tell if they are the same thinkness in wood. my house is 3/8 persicion cut. Or is the GL house thinner than that. havanaholly
Greenleaf uses 1/8" thick plywood for the kits; the Corona Concepts kits, also made by GL, seem to use 3/16" plywood.
THmini2
I wish I were doing this one! It looks like a tudor to me. There is one in the Dollhouse Emporium that looks simular to this with the stairs. Base house and stairs. I love the Greenleaf kit! I just can't afford it right now. The donation house is coming along. I am up to the point of being able to start painting it and have bought scrapbook paper for the two upper rooms so far. Haven't seen what I want for the lower rooms yet. We are going to be in Chicago for the Bishop show on sat. the 9th. More looking then buying of course. It will be so nice to get away for the day. Then my DH has an operation on the 11th. So I will be busy for awhile. Best wishes for all who are entering.
morgansmith
okay, I am not a GL expert. I have built their houses for over 20 years and have been a miniaturist for over 40. I attempted to enter last year and the death of a friend left us with too many responsibilities to finish so this year I am soooooo deteremined  Anyway..... as for can we this that and whatever else to make the contest kit our own. My understanding has always been that 'kitbashing', the term used for morphing a kit, is encouraged. Especially in a contest. It is about our own interpretation of the kit. This year, it's a bit different. The kit was designed by GL for the purpose of our being able to bash away! If I am wrong, please correct me, somebody, but, my understanding is, do whatever you want to make the kit your own. Just remember, the original kit being obvious is probably a good idea. Since you have never made a house it might be a good idea to check out some sources for how to build one. Check Greenleaf's site for the supplies they offer and another one with supplies is www.miniatures.com, what is also called Hobby Builder's Supply. That will give you an idea of what is available to do to a kit. All kinds of doors, windows, trims, whatever you can imagine, it's there, or the stuff to make it with probably is. I'm still waiting for my kit to arrive but am having a blast figuring out EXACTLY what to do. Ha! It changes with every step doesn't it?????? kreativitea75
I know the base kit comes with complete rules for the Spring Fling, so hopefully that will answer alot of these questions. I've never entered, but have admired many of the previouse years' entries and would say bash away! Have fun with it, if nothing else, you are going to be left with a beautiful project that will last far beyond the announcement of this year's winners! I cannot order until the end of the week and cannot wait to see it in person....so many ideas, so little time! Although I can appreciate the longer timeline - no way I would have gotten it done by Memorial Day!
LLyn M.
I finally ordered too!! I have ideas but no theme..does that make sense?? I so wanted a theme. Well, one will show up I'm sure. The important thing is..I Ordered!!
