Selkie
I think this qualifies as a miniatures. It's said to be the world's largest carving. Can't verify that claim. But it is fabulous.http://themetapicture.com/worlds-longest-wooden-masterpiece/ It has all kinds of buildings, landscaping, people, ships, and more. It says it took 4 years to carve. Incredible to me.
CheckMouse
Wow! That is some carving job!! :jawdrop: That's not something you leave to the glue! What kind of a blueprint, or vision, did he have before he started?
havanaholly
It's so good to see that the Chinese have kept their art traditions alive! https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=large+chinese+carvings&qpvt=large+chinse+carvings&qpvt=large+chinse+carvings&FORM=IGRE
Guest
We have several lacquer cased carvings of this type around the house. We've had them probably for the best part of 30 years and I still find new details. I might add though that this one is somewhat larger than ours! Thanks for the link Selkie. Selkie
I get so fascinated with all types of art. I'm not getting much done for all the looking I'm doing these days. Hmmm?? Maybe there's a lesson there somewhere. Duh!!
