Tape wiring question

The only way to accomplish this, in my opinion is to:

-make sure there are no ripples in the tape, smooth it down really well with a credit card.

-cover the tape with thin shipping tape to avoid corrosion. Again, smooth it with a credit card.

-apply a very thin layer of drywall compound over the entire wall to keep the wall texture consistent and wait 24 hours to really dry. Sand it smooth, I would do this outside.  If inside wear a dust mask. Vacuum really well and wipe down excess drywall dust.

-paint the area with with primer.

 

Are you sure wallpaper wouldn't be easier?
