Has anyone got experience of building the above kit.  We purchased it on ebay some years ago, it has furniture kits included. We have not opened the box yet but it appears to be vintage 1978 era from what information we can find through Google.  Its not a name we come across very often. Not sure if the company still exists.  Its about 4th on our list of kits to construct.

Thanks

Mike

The house was originally sold at Sears. I have built this house and the extension with my middle school after school program group. It was splintery so needed lots of sanding The pieces are labeled with numbers and the instructions where good so it was easy to build. The furniture was hit or miss but probably would have build better if the wood was treated before punching it out of the sheets and the project wasn't being done by 11 and 12 year olds. The only modification I made was adding standard 1" lumber to the base to make the house heavier on the bottom so it would be easier to move around.

I've never built it, but I've seen that a lot of people really like that house! I sure wish miniatures were as popular with the general public now as they were 35 or 40 years ago. We had so many choices in those days, and so many stores had wonderful selections of miniatures in them to choose from!

(Yeah, I know some of the stuff built back then was pretty bad, but there was a lot of good stuff too)!

Mike, I have two Arrow kits- like Agnes said, the wood is somewhat flimsy, so when separating the punch-outs - use a cutter and be prepared to sand, they splinter really easy. I haven't built mine yet, they will need reinforcements. I thought about using matboard to shore up the walls, but that's mainly because I like to mount wallcoverings on matboard first and then glue them in. It's a matter of personal preference.

The furniture kits are sometimes a hit and miss. For me they're just not the right thing. I'd rather build from scratch then use those - plywood just doesn't make them look right, but that's just my opinion.
