jrchob
I really wanted to make the Lace House. I talked with Norms Dollhouses several times about the depth and there was no way to make it so that I could get it through the doorway in the basement once completed because of the rear dormer. So I found a laser cut 1:24 that has the vertical strips and gingerbread and will add more gingerbread. I plan to do the house in white but want another color, maybe on the window frames and selected parts of some trim. While I think a beige would break up the white a bit but not overpower, I really don't like beige. Any suggestions? http://www.laserdollhouses.com/online-store.php#!/Kristiana-Tudor-Dollhouse-1-24-scale-Dollhouse-with-shingles/p/35031722/category=8577029
havanaholly
What about a light maple stain?
KathieB
What about a very soft sage green accent against more of an ivory/cream base than stark white? Or if you want to stay in the beige range, maybe a darker, more milk chocolate brown than beige? Next time you hit one of the big box DYI stores or a paint shop, pick up some color chip samples and play around with them. Get some you think you'd never use as well as those that have instant appeal. You never know what may look good to you until you test them visually.
kathi17
I like Kathie's advice about the paint chips. It's the easiest way to decide what works and what doesn't. There are some really beautiful houses by Cinderella moments though, that use a lot of white with grey, and hers are beautiful.
eskava
I am working on this house right now. I made mine stucco with dark stained wood trim. I like the idea of a light wood stain. The wood trim has the burnt edges which might be hard to paint a light color.
rbytsdy
What a pretty house! I like Kathie's sage suggestion, or maybe a soft coral?

It's pretty much on the surface.
jrchob
I like all the suggestions-thank you. I did plan to use a creamy white. A milk chocolate brown with the creamy white might be nice especially with the front door the same color, although I do love sage green. (I painted Victoria's Farmhouse in that). Do plan to go to the paint store on Monday. The link I am putting is a picture of the Lace House- the look and feel I am going for. http://rockymountainwoodcrafts.blogspot.com/2012/06/lace-house-miniature-and-real-thing.html
shannonc60
Oooo, I too want the lace house but too big/heavy for shipping to Australia (making my own in 1:24 scale instead!). I also agree sage green with ivory. Or maybe a pale yellow with ivory. Either wsy, look forward to seeing this come together.

havanaholly
it looks like the RL original has pale gray accents as well as a medium and a light burgundy.

I believe it was painted those colors @ 2010. This is more what the original was like. Apparently there had been a lot of deterioration. It actually was moved in location because of a casino. I find this house fascinating! http://realcoloradotravel.com/mountain-city-historic-park/592/
