Westons Nana
I'm really struggling with all of the gaps in the 2 bay Windows. Does anyone have any tips?
fov
Lots of glue in the joints, hold it together with masking tape while it dries, and the glue is dry fill in the gaps with wood filler. Or you can glue strip wood into the gap to create a cleaner corner (quarter round works well for this).
havanaholly
After I got the corners glued together with minimum gapping I cut bamboo skewers to length and glued them into the "V" formed by the sections of the bay, and after they were dry I spackled over them.
Luanne
I asked this same question while I was building mine. I used both bamboo skewers and spackling paste.
Sable
All the above plus a good sanding after dry.
Westons Nana
Thanks everyone. I tore one of the bays apart and tried the skewers. I just can't seem to get the spackle to not show through. I've primed every piece. This is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Ugh

Not understanding why you had to tear the bay apart. When assembled per the instructions, there is a wedge-shaped gap between sections. The skewer (or stripwood) gets glued into that space to mostly fill it. The remaining narrow voids are filled with Spackle to make the outside wall solid and smooth. (I add the Spackle by putting a bit on a fingertip and gentle working it into the space.) A light sanding when the Spackle is thoroughly dry finishes it up. Then the wall/corner is painted, which covers the Spackle. Can you share a photo of the problem?
Westons Nana
Thank you for responding Kathie. I'll send a picture when I get home this afternoon. The problem area is the bottom strips. I decided to redo them because I couldn't get them to look flush with the 2 top pieces.
Minis On The Edge
Try mixing a quarter teaspoon of cornstarch to your sparkle to make it thicker. It always works for me
Minis On The Edge
You can also use wood filler for any gaps. It's just harder to paint but because it's thicker, you won't see through it.
Westons Nana
Thank you so much. I decided to redo both of the bay Windows tonight and be a little more patient....I'll update pictures as I progress.
Westons Nana
So far I think I'm having better luck using minwax stainable wood filler
