Kitchen Cabinets

Hi, Happy New Year!! Does anyone know where to get kitchen cabinets, top and bottom? I have a large kitchen but smack in the middle of the wall is a double window. I need cabinets that come apart and can be arranged to fit. Thank you!

Hi, my first dollhouse kitchen had a window in the middle of a wall so I ended up using individual top and bottom cabinets and designing my own kitchen. Google dollhouse cabinets and you'll find a number of internet stores sell them. Also a lot of kitchen sets make the sink cabinet to fit under a window without the top cabinet attached. Try miniatures.com

Thank you. Finding a ton of bottom cabinets but not a lot with top. I'll check them out.

Not inexpensive but look at Elfminiatures for custom cabinets and kits:

This is a thirty year old Walmer. I had cabinets in them when I first built her. I'm now redoing her and a lot of the cabinets are lost or damaged due to time and little hands. Thanks, I'll check them out.

There's always Kris' tutorial on kitchen cabinets; if you don't happen to have mat board, 1/8" basswood works as well:  http://1inchminisbykris.blogspot.com/search/label/How%20to%20make%20kitchen%20cabinets%20from%20mat%20board.

Thanks, that is so pretty!! I don't know if I'd be able to do it...

Sure you can. One step at a time ... as our Administrator Tracy (Minis on the Edge) often says: "by the yard it is hard but a cinch by the inch" :D

Took the words from my fingers! :p They are a bit of work, but oh-so-versatile:

Hi,

I bought this set from miniatures.com and cut it to fit my kitchen: http://www.miniatures.com/Modern-White-and-Stainless-Kitchen-Set-P19663.aspx

There is a picture in My First Build album.

Love them, bought them. The dilemma with them is they're connected top to bottom. I tried to separate mine...it didn't go well...

Did you separate them? I looked at your first build pics and there's no white between top and bottom, looks that way anyway.

I'm using a couple of HOM top cabinet kits to make overheads for my San Franciscan. They are incredibly easy to build, have opening doors and they come as bare wood so you can paint or stain them any colour you like! :D

They also have a very similar shelf, that you could use for some variety or just leave the doors of one of the kits. They are meant to be cabinet tops so if you wanted to butt them together you would need to remove the cornice trim from opposite sides of two cabinets to get them to sit flush. I wouldn't see this as being a hard job, the wood is easy to work with and a good hobby hand saw would do the job.

The only problem you may encounter is sourcing them. I think the company is out of business but they come up on ebay fairly regularly.

Here's an ebay listing so you can see what they look like.

I've found these also as I was cruising around the miniature sites today, looking for things to spend money on... :shy:

You can find all the individual pieces to the kitchen you tried to separate on this website also.

Hi Mary

I've just ordered mine from http://www.minietchers.com/

As I only just ordered and have not received them I can't vouch for the quality but Shellie has been very lovely to deal with and will custom make cupboards to fit your space! I got mine in 1:24 scale but since each piece is individually cut and can be customed she could possibly do a 1:12 for you. Reasonably price too for customed cupboards.

Good luck

I haven't made kitchen cabinets (yet--they're waiting to be buit), but i've made a lot of furniture from MiniEtchers and have been very happy with it.  You should know that the doors and drawers do not work, in case that makes a difference to you.  Aside from that, Shellie is very accommodating.  She custom designed a rocking chair for me, and it is absolutely perfect.
