She will be convinced when either she doesn't get any offers at all, or when she gets just a few hundreds offers....with a lot of luck.

This log cabin is original and beautiful...very tempting...https://madison.craigslist.org/tag/d/doll-house/6399636678.html

I can just imagine a beautiful bearskin rug in front of a blazing fire in that cabin.  That seems like a very good price too.

Thanks ladies, I am so excited about the elusive Granville coming to live with me.  She is to be here on Tuesday the 28th.  Woohoo!,I will have time to start on her over the Christmas holiday.  I will definitely post to an album as work progresses.  I am thinking she is a Queen Anne style, but I could be wrong.  What do you all think, Queen Anne, or something else?

I thought it was modeled after the house from 'It's a Wonderful Life'?

Beautiful. If *that* house were appraised for $5,500, I wouldn't question it. ;)

Same hear, I can't believe she is selling her baby. I am glad I live so far because I would be doing #s like crazy to try to get it. It is my favorite RC's dollhouse.

I found this house on Australia's version of Craigslist, Gumtree

I think it could be a cute Christmas house and is already slightly Christmas-y on the exterior... The shutters have pine trees on them. :D

I'm a bit inspired to do a Christmas house by Jodi @Its_a_sm_world_after_all & I dunno.. I kinda dig it.. :)

The exterior is nice, but inside you'd be starting from scratch. It doesn't appear to be electrified. I'd offer them US$60.

Good point on the electrification Kathie. I didn't even think about that. I did a bit of research, its built from a set of plans (1185) by Creative Crafts out of Illinois. It was released in the mid 70s, I've only been able to find one other for sale in the US and you are spot on with your pricing because its offered at $60usd. It's in rougher shape than this one though. I'm going to sit on it tonight and if its still there tomorrow I might make a cheeky offer.:D

Sam, these houses show in my area very often and always with different prices, it is called the Swiss Chalet, and it looks small but is not. Here is the one that is available right now https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/clt/d/vintage-dollhouse-german/6399879271.html

$75usd seems high. It needs work inside. The outside is adorable. If I LOVED it, $75 seems fine. But Ideally it would be $50. And to be honest, it would probably go for $25-30 usd in my area.

Yes! Make the cheeky offer! That is what I do. It can only encourage a discussion and possibly negotiation...or, they will agree!

I think her price on that is really nice. I'd probably go get it if it was near me. Wow.

I wonder what the new project will be that is displacing this lovely house?! Wow.

I think it is adorable. It looks like Santa and Mrs. Claus would be happily sipping hot coca inside. If it was $50 usd I'd be obsessing over it!

@Its_a_sm_world_after_all  Jodi, you have started a trend:bigwink:

Btw, that is the perfect balcony for Santa and Mrs. Claus to do the official pre-sleigh loading address from.

It looks very Scandinavian to me maybe you can keep that feeling in the Christmas House. I like it and I think you should go for it, be cheeky. and good luck. I would like to see what you do with it. It is that time of year, if you are good to Santa he may be extra good to you . ...

This RL house in North Carolina looks a lot like the Granville. https://www.visitnc.com/listing/nc-rural-heritage-center

Here is another that has shades of the Granville to it, particularly that dormer with a balcony https://circaoldhouses.com/property/steamboat-victorian/

And this one http://innonschroonlake.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/first-blog-post.html

Samantha, I think you are right about it being a Steamboat Gothic Victorian.  I have never heard of that style of house.  I suppose if I am going to keep her true to her period, she is going to be a white house.  I am not fond of white houses, but the picture of the John Blue house is absolutely gorgeous.  Laurinburg, NC is only a 3 hour drive from my house in Spartanburg, SC.  The next time I am out to Spartanburg, I plan on taking a trip over to see that house.

The interior of the house in Missouri is such a inspiration for decorating the inside.  I just love the woodwork in this house.  The curving window and door trim is so unusual.  Would love to use that in the house, but I have never seen that available in miniature.

I love visiting the historical houses of the south.  Thank you for all the information you provided.

Cynthia, another hidden gem within driving distance from Spartanburg.  I will definitely add this house on my list of places to visit.  Looks like I will planning a longer visit to Spartanburg than usual in order to take some trips to see these houses. I will do more research and see what else there is to see on my trip to visit these houses.

Well, Susie, Carrie, and Cynthia, and I think there is one more on the list of  members looking for a Granville.  Here is another chance.  I will be interested to see how the ebay auction ends up and I hope if you are going to be bidding, you will be the lucky winner and maybe we can build this grand lady together.  I knew eventually another one would show up on ebay, and no matter what price it sells for, I am happy with my purchase.  It always a gamble on eBay when you are looking for an item specifically.  It just so happens that I will receive a very nice monetary award for 20 years of service to the company I work for in mid December.  So, I spent some of it on this house.

It's actually the mini copy of Rosemont in Waxahachie,, TX.  It is considered a Queen Anne  but has Steamboat Gothic elements.
