Those are some great dollhouses in Seattle! But I don't think the one listed as 1/2" scale is really 1/2" scale? I don't see how those dimensions could be right (38" high and 19" deep?)

It doesn't look half scale at all. Maybe it was a typo and she meant 1:12 and not 1/2. No way is it 1:24!

Yep, those are Houseworks windows (the small one at the top is a Classics, but Houseworks makes the same size). The ones on the first floor are the taller skinny ones: https://www.miniatures.com/Victorian-Slim-Working-Window-P17967.aspx

Found this house on Gumtree (Australia's version of Craigslist) and it looks familiar to me. Has someone built it from plans.. I have a feeling there are plans out there for this house. Could be wrong.. Could the DH experts please weigh in. :)

Also, does anyone recognise this house?

Sam, I always loved this house, here you can find the plans for sale I think http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/store/index.php?app=ccp0&ns=prodshow&ref=R14_3060&sid=0tij82ceg6izedbfi6zm036l953j7shb

also, look how much they are selling this one for!http://www.mcssl.com/store/mydollshouse/catalog/product/f51b4b780f1144f2b92f964c0cc652b2

For $140 it is a very good deal, a steal I would say. It is a very big house, very rare. I would grab it fast if I was there!

Mine is 30 min.

I waited years for my Beacon Hill...but it finally showed up only 10 minutes away, lol. But I do think a wider radius means more houses! Hooray!

I got it!!! Hurrah!! So happy.:cheer:

Thunderstorms forecast here today but this was the only time the seller was available. Spent the entire hour and a half drive home rat racing the clouds (the house is so big it had to travel in the tray of our ute) only to get a complete white out downpour 10 minutes from home! :badmood:

The house is made of ply, well constructed and mostly painted so I think it's survived relatively intact. The exposed ply floors are drenched though.. I've dried them with a towel as best I can and now have a fan on them. We shall see tomorrow if they are warped beyond repair. Any suggestions to minimise the destruction?

I'm so glad you got it! It looks fantastic in the photos!!!

The way you told the story of the rain, it is like supernatural forces were trying to keep the house, lol!

How is the drying going? Can't wait to see what you do with all those rooms!! And stairs - love the stairs!

That is such an awesome and unique house! Not only will you end up with a gorgeous and roomy new home to design and play with, you'll have a harrowing story to tell! Totally worth a 3 hour odyssey in my book! Can't wait to see it become incredible!

Nicely done, but unrealistic idea of the market, imo:

But very nicely done.

oh my goodness, that looks like a life size empty storefront available for lease...about the same cost too...it s magnificent, I'd love to create something that made my think it was worthy of that price.  Impressive.

I think his work is exceptional in terms of historical elements. He is able to not cram a dollhouse full of stuff to keep the perspective. When I think what the asking price on ebay for some houses are...

Taking a long & loving look at the store's ceiling & working Victorian freight elevator (I saw a full-sized one no longer in service in a 1:1 hardware store in S GA) and all the other details, I don't think the price is out of line.

Oh I'm not saying 8k (at least) didn't go into the house...I'm just saying it is a tough market to get anything out of. But there is no problem with pricing things at the price you should get. I have houses I'd price high because I won't part with for just any amount. In fact, I won't part with them period. So I'd probably price them at 1 million (I'd out-Broel Bonnie Broel!).

So I have a sofa I bought in the 1990s, still have it, have kept it very clean (under various slipcovers) - classic lines so no reason to get rid of it. It was purchased at a upper scale department store. It will probably be with me another 20 years.

MY 1:1 SOFA COST ME LESS THAN THIS 1:12 SOFA! lol!

And I like this and would like it in 1:1 as well:

I wonder if this is really petit point.I can't tell from the photo.

I saw a firescreen at a recent mini show that had a petit point insert about the size of one of the arms on this sofa. It was priced at slightly more than half of the cost of the $630 sofa. If truly petit point, this sofa is a bargain! :)

I saw a lady plop down $500 dollars for a chest of drawers in Seattle....I nearly fainted. It was probably worth every penny, but yikes! I can't imagine being able to do that.

The seller of the sofa has some really nice items. Kris comfort has a kit for a knoll settee.

Looking at the close ups of the back, it looks liek it may indeed be petit point. Its not woven.

I mean, lets say it took her 50 hrs to make just the petit point that. That's only 12.50 per hour for skilled work JUST for the petit point panels. Add in another 10 for all the finishings and your price per hour goes down to $10.50 an hour. Really a paltry sum per hour for hand made.

Many artisans use older petit point work taken from handbags, compacts, etc.  I'm not saying June did this on this particular sofa but she does have a very similar one on her website and describes using vintage 1930 Austrian petit point.  Any thing one is lucky enough to get from June will find it exquisite and she is a very  sweet lady!  There is a seller on etsy selling recovered Bespaq (mostly) pieces using petit point  from older articles.
