How could you tell? I had a mouse in my basement (he is gone now, thank you) and there was a spot that was especially "hamster-y" smelling. But to his credit, he did not enter any of my dollhouses. That reminds me of a book called "Gus the Ghost" - where the ghost and mouse enjoy life during the winter before the family returns to the summer house. Have you been checking OfferUp, Craigslist, and now even Facebook in your area? I have found marvelous things in my own backyard (Aka the $65 Beacon Hill with copper flashing. Still so happy with that one). But I had to check those sources off and on, and some got away, but eventually the right one appeared at the right time. If you see them in any old dollhouse, make sure you wear a dust mask and use gloves to clean out the offending turds. Mouse turds can carry Hanta virus and exposure to mouse and rat urine can lead to leptospirosis or rat bite fever. Janet, if in the next day or so you feel like you have a cold coming on or feel achy like you have the flu, get thee hence ASAP to a doctor and tell him you're worried you were exposed to Hanta virus and if he laughs, kick him in the rear and head to the ER. I didn't know this, there were no actual droppings, just the smell which I think came from the item box itself, I'm sure it was stained with mouse urine. I'll monitor my symptoms.
