If you Google for pictures of the interior, you'll see that it could be recreated in miniature. Most of the wallpaper, trims, furnishings and accessories are available in miniature, or at least a very close approximation. It's a project I don't need but one I'd love doing. I've toured the actual house in Black Hawk and it is lovely. Not really relevant, but Black Hawk has been utterly ruined by the casino industry. It is a TOTAL HORROR. I avoid it completely and visit Central City just up the road. Absolutely love it. Also Georgetown, CO which I mentioned in a previous post about the Pink House there. Here's a walking video of Central City and another of Georgetown if anyone's interested. Both just great places to visit and only 45 & 60 minutes west of Denver, respectively. Edit: P.S., pause the video to read the sign near the beginning of the Central City video, describing the population. It cracks me up. I like a town that can poke fun at itself. It struggles to survive and to hold onto its history and architecture, while adjacent Black Hawk continually sells itself out and thinks 30-story casino hotels are acceptable for historic preservation. Preserving history is the only reason Coloradans voted to allow Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek to have gambling. Boy, did Black Hawk ever screw us over. I completely loathe it, can you tell, lol? Edited May 7, 2019 by KellyA
fov
Interesting modern(ish) dollhouse: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tag/d/pleasanton-custom-dollhouse/6883643879.html The exterior is different but the shape of it reminds me a bit of the Highland.
jbnmini
@KellyA - I just realized that last summer when driving thru Black Hawk that we must have driven past the Lace House.....and I didn't even realize what I was looking at!! And I agree with you- we had been up there umpteen years ago and this time when we came around the corner and saw all of those highrise casinos, we were just dumbfounded...and disappointed. We crossed our fingers and hoped Central City hadn't suffered the same fate - - whew! it had not! Unfortunately, there was some MAJOR road work going on in the center of town and we were hard-pressed to find some parking. And then traffic soon came to a screeching halt. We were on a bit of a time schedule, so hubby and I just gave up the idea of getting to walk thru town and headed back to highway back to Denver. I was somewhat disappointed, but this trip was pre-knee replacement so walking a lot was not really a good idea.

It has some pretty steep streets. You know they moved the Lace House not long ago? Needed the land for another fricking casino hotel. I heard through friends who knew some of the workmen that the house suffered quite a lot of damage but Black Hawk covered it up and denies it. They painted it some hideous blue color and now it looks like some new-build cheesy child's dollhouse. Ugh.

I like that a lot! Something about the construction - the way the windows are built, what the shingles look like, and etc. - makes me think it might be from Moonbeam Dollhouse Co. I think they might have been based in Canada decades ago? Does anyone else know about them? I have one of theirs and I don't know, just some of the details look like how they built their dollhouses. Here's a picture of my Moonbeam, does anyone else see similarities?

So I had to go thumbing through catalogs again because I just knew I'd seen this house before. What would I do without you guys? LOL Anyway, the house is called the Bannockburn and was put out in a plan book by Sterling Designs by Joe Goddard. Finished size was 54"W x 18"D x 17"H. I'm surprised it's only 17" H - it looks a lot higher than that in the pictures.

I agree, especially since it would have been so much easier to paint/ paper and finish the walls BEFORE installing all that fancy door & window trim. And I think you nailed it with those balusters. Am I just seeing things, or are those exterior windows and doors not actually cut out? They look to be just framed with stripwood and the plywood they're on is just painted. I have seen that before and it can look pretty good, but I'd prefer actual openings so you could see into rooms. Here's a picture of a house that did the same thing. I didn't even realize upon first seeing it that those are mock windows and not actually cut out. Second picture is a close-up so you can see it. I could see finishing a dollhouse that way if there were any chance a child might try to play with it, which might be why the interior was never finished? But, then, why bother with the delicate balusters on the stairs? I would also prefer openings I could actually see through.

When I saw it there was a $450 BIN price (but it's gone now since someone has placed a bid). They're using a picture of the 1:12 Thornhill. The upstairs windows and front door are different in the 1:24 version.
Mid-life madness
@fov I do not know anything about half-scale, but I thought some of the half-scalers out there might like it. There is potential to get a kit for a good price.
