Anyone think I should contact her and tell her about the Washington?

The detroit houses are great - that first link has a great layout (big livingroom, dining and kitchen to right, with smaller bathroom or library off livingroom...I love it.

A $350 Washington that needs a lot of work! That was funny!

The first one is a Hofco Americana house. I bought mine for $100, and yet I ran across another one and they were asking a couple thousand for it. People price their stuff so weird.

I just saw this on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lawbre-Circular-Staircases-for-Dollhouses-/332016700890?hash=item4d4dbccdda:g:ZJkAAOSw-RRXCElV

Her 3rd and 4th pictures don't look like Lawbre staircases, but if I understand the auction, the last two pictures is of the only staircase she has left. And if that's the case, whoever buys it is going to get a heck of a good deal. That's Lawbre's special staircase and it's going for $209 on their website.

You don't get a little sad at all that wasted bay window space? I always feel weird when those open up and move away from the house and become their own little vignettes - which some people decorate perfectly (chair/quilt/windowseat) but I cannot ever do them justice. I feel a front opening with a lot of architectural detail(bays and turets) can seem like a waste.

But I like that house.

Front opening Queen Anne. I really like this house a lot better as a front opening house.

Oh neat, is that a modification the builder did? I don't think I've see this house front opening before. It makes sense with a house so big -- it's really too large to put on a turntable without a lot of clearance.

Well, I picked up the Victoria and it was even better, the kit had one piece of a room division broken and they gave me the kit for free! They had all the pieces nicely identified and classified, and they even gave me the paint that they were going to use. Very nice people, he said that he didn't understand part of the instructions and that the people at the RGT website didn't answer his question, so he just gave up, lost interest. 10 more people ask for the kit after we talked.

Thank you! I am working fast to build an RGT Imagination kit for a friend's granddaughter that is moving to Florida this month, and I want her to take it along with them (to avoid having to ship it, way to expensive as you all know), then I have to finish the Noel and then it will be the Farmhouse,s turn. I will try to post something about the progress of the Noel house, it is going to be very different than usual, at least I am trying! hehehe

Kelly,

I saw this post and I had to investigate.  I had seen this auction before and passed it up as I have 2 other curved stairs already in my stash.  But I took the plunge for $40 including shipping I figured I couldn't get hurt (too much) :ermm:.

It arrived today, and it is  the Lawbre staircase!  I got a great bargain and a beautiful set of stairs! :happydance:

Thanks for pointing that out!

I think I will use it in my next build (which I will start soon after a real life project is completed very soon!)

Matt

Left the US for a"few weeks" and arrived back home five months later...

Found an add on Portland CL on Saturday for "Victorian dollhouse" for $150.00.   The photos showed 3 big boxes of milled siding and bundles of trim and smaller boxes and two curved staircases. The seller didn't know which house or what scale. But what the check...there where two curved staircases and the seller was willing to drive h Alf way to meat me so I met the guy in a Trader Joe's parking lot.

So... for $150.00 I got a RGT Foxhall manor including the finishing kit and the conservatory addition!  Did I need it? Um... Yes.

I wondered where that had gone to! I noticed it had disappeared yesterday.

I think I posted that ad here about a month or so back, and then I saw the ad again last week. I was thinking about it but I decided I really didn't like the Foxhall enough to drive all the way down to Portland for. I didn't know it came with the conservatory, though! LOL Congratulations on a great buy and welcome home!

Matt, you're welcome! I couldn't afford them right now and I'm so glad someone from this forum got them!

Marla, that $200 kit is the Allison Jr.

OK, I found some nice buys:

This one comes with a Lawbre staircase, although it looks like the newel posts are missing:

This one ends in an hour - not sure if they're going to sell the dollhouse today or next time or what they're asking for it:

EDIT: Oops - this was yesterday! But I'll leave up the ad so you all can see a pretty dollhouse.

Not sure about these - they look like they may have mold in them:
