Now I want to know what this mysterious Oakcrest house looks like! I would not be a good candidate for Let's Make a Deal!

They say this is a vintage Noel Thomas shell for $200:

This is the same as my first dollhouse ever - I remember it had zero doors, but I loved the stairs and the upper deck. I thought it had been made specially in my town, but it appears to be a mass produced number. Who knew!

And here is a built Franklin for $120 - I'd consider it for rehabbing but I have no room:

I'd want to do mine in William Morris paper. I love the 3rd floor curved doorways.

That house looks like an SW crafts Cape Cod... I've never seen a built one. Interesting. :)

Yes - that looks just like it! My parents got my house at a wood furniture shop. I wonder if someone was building these and selling them through the midwest? Interesting. I have saved that photo! Mine had zero doors or window glazing.

I'm always lamenting the wasted potential of front-opening houses because bay windows and entry ways are often part of the front that gets "removed" from the main house. But here is one where I like how they did the washer and dryer in that space

I don't think there was an inside in this particular model. But YES...I'd want to see that staircase and the modern fireplace (where Aunt Agatha stumbles out). And her tiny kitchen with the 60s appliances (green stove!). She burned dinner in that green stove.

I totally want a miniature model of it.

And that mural!

Where did you grow up? It's similar to my first dollhouse, but not exactly the same: http://www.emilymorganti.com/blog/?p=8741

I grew up in the Boston area and my parents got it at a local shop that either sold wooden furniture or wooden toys, or both. Over the years I have seen several like it on the Boston Craigslist and one had information about the builder, which I thought I saved but now can't find. This particular guy built the houses and sold them in his store, I don't know if he may have based the design on the SW Crafts house or if it was a coincidence. The one you posted looks more like the SW Crafts house than mine does.

I grew up near St. Louis. I thought these houses were coming out of our local woodworker's shop (which sold unfinished furniture and wooden rocking horses and stuff) - because my friend had the same house from the same shop, and it was solid and so woodworker-ish (not miniaturist - not details) and sturdy. So I wonder if the wood shop was getting them shipped in, or making them in the shop from these kits? Our shop also had a hotel and old west saloon in similar styles on display. It was nice wood - smooth. My house had inner walls of pegboard material with solid wood trim.  I thought the hotel was amazing - all those rooms!!!

If they were building from scratch, it would be an easy design to copy. The materials sound similar to my dollhouse - it's all real wood trim, not miniature scaled. (In fact the scale is a bit off, my house has low ceilings and doorways.)

That's about what I'd want to pay for a Lemon Twist, but not on eBay. I look for bargains on eBay, especially with shipping so high. Plus, I don't think the Lemon Twist is all that rare if it's still being made. But I have to say, I've always liked that house.

The asymmetry of Walmer's always gets to me...their doors are always off center (because they are giving you better spaced room inside). I like georgian symmetry I guess.

There's another Walmer (or Lilliput house) that's identical to the Lemon Twist called the Raspberry Parfait except it's a front opening house and the front door is centered.

The house has come up for sale once or twice here in the Seattle area, but I have to admit I've never seen the inside of one. Since it's two rooms deep on the bay window side, I was always wondering if there was a side opening.

I would just keep searching eBay for the plans, though. I've seen them on there a couple of times.

I just found this - this might be a Plumbrook.
