Stairs ???

I ordered 2 sets of stairs from miniature .com last week. Ordered the 3-3/16w  ones and they are the same size as the pair that came with my DC VH-600.  I don't know why I didn't know that... Duh. I was thinking they would look a little more (delicate) or finer then the ones I have. They look the same. Has any one used the smaller set from there? They are 2-1/2 w, and the risers look to high. They don't give the riser measure on either ones. I made a set years ago and one thing I remember is..... """ I SAID I WOULD NEVER MAKE A SET AGAIN """.   Well guess what I might be doing. The good thing is I might not get to it until after December !

Do you mean the Simple Stair Kit? http://www.miniatures.com/Simple-Stair-Kit-P17202.aspx

I used that on my Orchid but don't have any good pictures, and no longer have the house. I don't remember the risers being unusually high. You might want to check out Earth and Tree, they have several different stair sizes that they make themselves, as well as some with pre-assembled railings. http://earthntree.com/miniatures/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=72_91

Micro Mark's magnetic gluing jig makes installing balusters a whole lot easier!

I have that Holly...but I think I need a spacer jig for the spindles. Mine never stay straight!

OK - I say that - and I have only ever made 1 set of stairs. So who am I to talk? But it was one of the many things that put me off building 1:12. In smaller scales I just buy the stairs all done up.

If you drill a hole in the end of your stair tread for the baluster to fit into it helps.  I put  piece of scrapwood that lets the balusters sit at the distance I need when I glue them to the treads.

With the house I'm working on, I didn't like the plain stairs that came with the kit and I also have trouble with spindles. I purchased

a pair of assembled stairs and cut the width to fit. Did this with the second floor also but a cheaper version.
