jrchob
In the eight houses I have made, I have never had a problem like this before. This summer has not been particularly different as far as humidity goes and I am making the houses in my room in the basement. I am using the same wallpaper paste (minigraphics) and most of the wallpaper is Itsy Bitsy. I am getting wet spots showing through the paper. It actually feels wetish (more than damp).I thought I was getting out excess paste by using a credit card to smooth out and remove any bubbles when applying the paper to the walls. I apply the paste using a brush to the back side of the paper. Any suggestion?
Mid-life madness
Maybe glue it to card stock first? I wonder if the paper quality has change?
Guest
Somebody else recently had this problem. I'm going to go find the thread.. I'll be back. EDIT: Ok here it is... seems to be potentially a humidity problem. http://www.greenleafdollhouses.com/forum/?app=forums&module=forums&controller=topic&id=40759#comment-652358

Possibly I spread the paste too thick.
havanaholly
Next time try spreading the paste to the wall. I also put the paste on the paper, because when I put it on the wall first I wind up having places I have to go back over with the paste.
L Swearengin
I have yet to use wallpaper paste. I use tacky glue spread super super thin. Let it set until tacky but not quite dry. No problems so far.
chapchap73
I used Minigraphics Wallpaper Mucilage for my houses, and the majority of my walls are scrapbook paper. I've never had an an issue like what you are describing. The mucilage is thin enough to put on with a foam brush, and I lay it on wax paper while brushing it on so I can see if I have any areas that are too thick. All that being said, I did have a little trouble with some of the made for dollhouse papers I used absorbing too much of the mucilage in some spots which made it harder to get it on without it ripping.
havanaholly
I use regular premixed wallpaper paste with whatever I hang on the walls and I haven't had an issue with wet spots.
Sable
Could you have possibly added additional water to the paste as I did once because it was a little thick and I thought adding water would be a good thing? It wasn't. Just give it a chance to really dry for a few days. In real life wallpapering I had bubbles appear days after applying it. They all smoothed out once completely dry.

The Minigraphics wallpaper glue isn't thick so no water was added. The wet spots showed up weeks after the rooms were papered. 4 rooms were perfectly fine, two were not. I've set a fan facing the two rooms and that has made no difference.
jrchob
Here are photos. When I feel the dark spots, it's wet.
1martinimomma
Wow, that is bad. I haven't seen that happen before. Hopefully, it will disappear when it is completely dry.
Guest
Hmmm... Maybe you should PM the other poster and see what brand paste they used.. maybe you guys got a bad batch.. it just seems really strange tha none of us have ever heard of this before and then two people have the same problem in the same month? jrchob
I am going to remove the wallpaper, clean the walls, let dry and re prime if necessary. I will use Zinzer sure grip wallpaper adhesive. Then as Holly does, apply to the wall. This paste is pink and then turns clear. It might help to see the wall coverage. Thanks for all the suggestions! Sable
Weird! Looks like the ink/dye ran too.
chapchap73
That is really strange. Maybe you got a really fresh kit that needed more curing time?

This is the Chateau de Champlain RGT limited production kit that was produced in Sept. 2014. It is MDF. It is strange as I applied the wallpaper as I always have done. chapchap73
That makes it even more strange. I'd be tempted to contact RGT about it, just to see if they had gotten people with similar problems. A limited edition would make it easier to keep track of production issues.

You mention re priming - perhaps use Kilz as a primer to stave off any potential bleed through of whatever this was when you re-paper.
