shamrockgirl18
I recently visited the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. There was a cabinet for dental tools that is meant to look like a dollhouse! They were produced in the 1930's as a way to make dental offices more welcoming to children. This one was in use from the early 1930's until the early 1950's. I had never heard of these before!
KathieB
Practical. It beats using a McKinley on the bathroom wall as a place to store extra rolls of TP.
havanaholly
None of the dentists I went to as a child ever had one of those!
shamrockgirl18
I struggled with severe dental phobia for a long time (thankfully I have a good dentist now)- maybe if more of them had 'friendlier' offices with dollhouses, I wouldn't have dreaded going all the time. :-p
tilliejam62
Such interesting information - what really would have helped with dental phobia is if the sound of that drill could have been chirping birds or a pleasant waterfall, etc. My friend use to pass out in the chair as soon as she heard it come on and she was an adult. LOL
Elsbeth
But it would be so disappointing to see what looks like a glorious dollhouse only to find it filled with scrapers and pokey things. And no rooms - just drawers. AaAaaaarrrrghhhh! But interesting. Nice find and thank you for sharing.
