HI From A Newbie!

Hi everyone! I wanted to introduce myself and say hello.  I'm new to building dollhouses but I've loved them since I was a child.  I always promised myself I would build my own dollhouse one day, so last week I gifted myself the Laurel and I started it on Sunday.  This forum has been a great resource and I wanted to thank everyone on here.

Wish me luck guys! I'm using gorilla glue and my hand are rougher than sand paper right now LOL

Hi, Iraida, and welcome to the forum. Are you using the type of Gorilla glue that expands as it dries? You may find a wood glue or even a white craft glue to be more satisfactory.

Hi Kathie!  Yes I am and I'm putting way too much.  It expands and end up looking like a blob mess.  I will try the Elmer's wood glue instead.

I found the wood glue to be a little runny for some things.  I used white glue in a lot of places that I was concerned about drips and it worked well!  I think I tried just about every type of glue on my house trying to figure out which on I liked.  Lol

Good luck on your first build!  I just completed first house and now I am hooked!  I can't wait to get started on another!!!

Good choice.

Too much glue can be a problem. If you apply a thin coat to each of the contact areas, let it sit a few minutes, and then press them together, there shouldn't be any runs. For small areas or inside slots on Greenleaf houses, I apply the glue with a toothpick.

Often I run a small bead of glue in the corners where the wall meets floor or ceiling and where wall meets wall. Capillary action draws the glue into the crevice, leaving a nice, smooth joint that I know is solid.

I have only used Aleene's tacky glue on all my houses .  Works great.  My first build over 20 years ago is still holding strong

Elmer's wood glue or Aleene's tacky glue -- both good choices.
