I have read the Rik Pierce booklet but the one thing I'm assuming ( based on pictures is you don't prime the wood ? SO just checking with everyone who uses

paperclay/airdry do you prime the wood? I did see where you paint between the roof tiles but he still doesn't do all the wood . Getting ready to start my first house using paperclay and want to start on the right foot.

Are you putting the damp clay directly on the wood or after it has been formed and dry? Since paperclay has moisture in it, I would prime first to protect the wood from warping. Also, if you are placing it on as a damp product I have found that these products shrink by at least 10%. Maybe test it first, let it dry and see if shrinkage is a factor.

Not saying this is the best way but I just personally don't prime, I spread the wood glue on and put the clay over it without drying the clay first. I've never had anything warp.

That is the way the book seems to do it also .
