Half scale speed shingle coverage

It's been a while since I used these and my brain just isn't working right now. The website says each strip is 4.5" x .75" and there are 34 strips per package, which covers 112 sq inches. 4.5 x .75 x 34 = 114.75 so I guess that's where that number comes from. But since the strips overlap each other by at least half the height of the shingle, shouldn't the coverage be more like 4.5 x .375 x 34?

I have about 250 square inches to cover on my back-to-back Victorianna and want to make sure I buy enough. I guess what I'm asking is, for anyone who's used these lately, did the coverage match what it says in the store, or did you need more than you thought you would?

chapchap73, I'm not friends with Math either, but I am friends with Google and this site 3 Ways to Determine Square Inches - wikiHow helped me tremendously figuring out square inches for my 3 triangular Duracraft Heritage gables. I'm late to this thread, only by a few years - I definitely bookmarked this site!
